The Nokia 6500 slide mobile phone shares its model number and its fondness for 3G technology with the Nokia 6500 classic - but please don't make the mistake of thinking they're the same phone underneath. This distinctive camera phone has quite a few surprises in store.

It starts on the outside with a scratch-resistant stainless steel case that contains a high-resolution colour display and a 3.2 megapixel camera.

Great price. Heat.
#4
This phones has lots of bugs - research before buying.
#5
I'ts not too bad, but the camera's not as good. Even though it is 3MP, N80 camera is better.
#6
This should have clearance in the title (second user/tarted up/14 day return etc etc)
banned#7

#8

Very difficult to get these unlocked. I know I work in a phone shop. Certain places are unlocking these but they are charging £25. Plus if it has the latest version of the orange software, then they can't be unlocked yet.

These phones are hard to unlock but i bought a "turbo sim" yesterday and whoopi i can use the nokia 6500 slide that i bought in march, (i had to wait till i'd had it for 3 months before the network would unlock it)

My wife has this phone, and really likes it....... She had the samsung g600 for a month, and it drove her nuts. I bought hers from ebay.

Phone has got a terrible reputation! Don't do it!

This phone looks good, but it's a rather basic Nokia in functionality. The 6120 classic is a far better phone in-terms of functionality, as it is Symbian 60 (series 30) based, so you can run lots of software on it (including GPS).

Eh? Don't you mean Symbian 9 Series 60 (S60) based?
Get your point though. S40 phones like the 6500 are are aimed at the fashion market and are very limited in what they can do (i.e. Java games for kids), whereas S60 gives you full smartphone functionality. See here for the difference:-

Not PAYG ones.

I think considering it is CPW, it is sold unlock... as CPW rather stock all their phones unlocked rather keeping stock of specific locked phones in their stock room... Regardless if its PAYG or contract.

Anyways, if you compare this with the 6120c, the 6500 classic slide has a better all round build compare to the 6120c.

my girlfriend has this phone and looks gorgeous !! it looks the part but as said already it has so many bugs !!

Absolutely, the 6120c is a dark horse, a shrunk candybar N95 without GPS and reduced camera. Almost the perfect phone except that it suffers from the poor battery life that plagues all N series phones

It's ideal for me, I rarely use the camera on a phone (and when I do, I don't need high quality pics), I have two GPS units already, and I'm used to poor battery having had a HTC TyTn for over a year! :) Currently on the Three mix and match 1100 (for £20 a month), it's available free. Great deal.

Since quite sometime now, all the Nokia phones I have bought that were PAYG from CPW in the last few years have been unlocked.

Hot for me! Bought this for the equivalent of £260 (after cashback) from Dial-a-phone 6 months ago but that includes 400 mins and 500 texts a month.

I have to disagree. I find the camera on my 6500 slide provides a better quality picture (providing you keep it very still) than my N80.
