You're a fool.
Have you even bothered to check the Lumia deals before you spout such fanboy nonsense? People may actually be voting the Lumia 800 deals cold because they don't think they are good value. This phone is way over priced as is the Lumia 900, that's why the've been giving away £200 headphones with them! For the record, I have Lumia 710 myself, which is far better value.
Some of the recent Lumia 710 deals:

The majority of Lumia deals are 'hot' if you care to do a search.

Comparing the Lumia 710 to the 800. That's a fair comparison.....(sarcasm).
Is there really that much of a difference between them to justify the huge price difference? Take the Pay as you go phones at Carphone warehouse, £130 for the 710 and £450 for the Lumia 800.
Same size screen, same resolution screen, same amount of RAM, same processor, same features, same OS, same apps. All you're getting is the OLED vs LCD, 16GB vs 8GB NAND and 8MP vs 5MP camera. The 710's battery is also replaceable whereas the 800's is fixed and to me the 710 is a better shape as the corners are rounded so they don't dig into you.
I'm obviously not alone in my opinion as the 710 deals get hot and in some cases very hot, while the 800 deals don't!

I think most people would rather have 32GB, than some over priced headphones, trouble is WP7 OS doesn't support 32GB, let alone 64GB.It also doesn't support dual-core processors (but in fairness -doesn't need them) - thats why there aren't any WP7 phones with larger storage.
As mentioned above, the combination of an iPad and a Nokia Lumia 710 isnt a bad one - if you have a limted budget, but once you own the new ipad, you'll want an iPhone. The IE9 browser on a Nokia 710 is excellent, as is the screen for the money.
People just think its odd though if you have an iPad, and bland looking Nokia Lumia 710 (well that's my experience), people are curious about Nokias though. Businesswise its better just to go with the flow and own an iPhone (that's what comes across).
Trouble is, its obvious, the hours that have gone into testing iPhone's iOS, the little refinements, details - they truely make WP7 look like a 5th graders poor attempt at copying it. WP7 is also trying far too hard in its attempts to be different, that's it end up being far too trendy for its own good, to the point it sacrifices been intuitive at times.
Poorly designed icons such as the battery indicator and Wifi notification disappearing. Nokia Drive crashes back out to the tiles, on startup - a fair amount of time for me, even though its offline maps are a godsend when they work.
Yep, WP7 does the job, but it needs a tonne of more work. As said the Nokia Lumia 710 is a good phone to dip your toe, if you like WP7 (and plenty do), that is the point to buy a Nokia Lumia 800 (you'd be better waiting for WP8 though), but there isn't much to justify paying more than £250 for the Nokia 800.
Bluntly put, avoid the Nokia 800/ Nokia 900 Phones - they aren't worth it, and not because they aren't Android/iPhone. The Nokia Lumia 800/900 are already obsolete, you'll just lose too much cash owning one. At least with the Nokia 710 its a throw away device in a year or two.
My hunch is WP7 Phones aren't getting an update to WP8, if they were MS/Nokia would have said so in the last month to clear up the confusion, after it hit the headlines that WP8 requires more processing power than is available in the current handsets.
If you really like WP7 then go ahead and get a Nokia Lumia 800, but an iPhone is a better investment if you do any business to business related activities. The iPhone is the standard business tool of choice, bar none - everyone has them.

As the OP works for CPW -isn't that classed as 'self promotion'? , it does state this is a community site, and self promotion may result in a ban.
That's different from a say a company who may post various deals under different usernames pretending them to be regular users, self promoting will be their sole intention.
I have done lots of research into the Nokia handsets and WP7 and came to the conclusion that these phones are just basically a fill in until WP8 arrives, as been said before the newer WP8 will not run on this generation of handsets.
Its been widely blogged that these handsets will not get upgrades to the newer operating system when it is released.
The only thing that these Nokia phones have over other brands out there is the Nokia Drive free offline satnav and low overhead on the processor with W7, the screens are also very good especially at the 710 pricepoint..
This wasn't enough to make me part with my cash though but I was tempted, no sdcard is a major stumbling block nowadays too.
Mehn! It's like all these Microsoft haters have personal grudges with them; maybe MS have done something to y'all or you guys just happen to be a blinded useless fanboy with no better thing to do than to chat rubbish. IF YOU DONT LIKE IT THAT DONT MEAN IT IS RUBBISH. ONE MAN'S MEAT IS ANOTHTER MAN'S POISON

There are problems with WP7 just as there are with Android and iOS. That's the way the world is.
Nokia Drive works for me perfectly. It hasn't crashed on me once. As for an upgrade to WP8? I really don't care; I used the same WM6.5 phone for 3 years; it did what I needed it to and I'm quite happy with the size of my **** so I didn't feel the need to spend £400 on a new handset every 12 months.
Lastly, this is not £372 for a PAYG phone, it's £372 total cost for the phone + plan over 24 months.
I can see why other tablets (including Windows 8 tablets do/will struggle to compete). The new iPad a well rounded, complete piece of kit (its obvious years, have gone into the user design), but overall this is probably more due to the ecosystem thats being generated around it, not iOS. In contrast, the whole marketing of WP7 has been a complete fckup by MS/Nokia from the word go.
Do I use the iPad for everything - no, its not a replacement for a laptop, but I see what there is to like and it certainly organises me. I'm happy to rely on it, where are I'm not with the Nokia Lumia because it doesn't feel finished. With Nokia Lumia's I see what the problems are, and I'm stating them, if you don't like - don't insult me personally for it (for one thing there is no point - as I don't insult back).
I'd probably feel the same about recommending an iPhone 4S if Apple said actually the 4S isn't getting iOS6 (we don't know it is, but given past updates - there doesn't seem another phone in the wings to put iOS6 on). So WP7 not getting a WP8 update is a bit like Apple saying no future updates for iPhone 4S, it would be a p1ss-pour response if Apple did.

There have been just as many articles saying that all current gen handsets will get WP8, plus the fact that WP8 test phones have all been Lumia 900's. Everything is a rumour at the moment, but Microsoft should be announcing WP8 and it's plans for it in June.

If you read between the lines, only some handsets will get the WP8 update. It would be suicide for them to not update the lumia 710,800,900 to WP8 as they simply don't have a large enough userbase.
I'd assume though that phones such as the Lumia 610 though will be stuck on 7.5, which may be why that phone has a very low profile. If that can run WP7.5 with half the ram and almost half the processor speed as the other Lumia's, there's enough headroom for the 710/800/900 to run WP8. Although obviously the WP8 experience on a 710/800/900 may not be as great as on a second gen WP8 phone with dual core etc.
