can i use this phone with my BLYK sim???

Note that Skype for the E65 is only available on the 3 network. It's not currently available as an application for other mobile networks.

If the phone is unlocked it should work.

As BLYK runs on the Orange network even if its locked to Orange it "should" still work.

This is the Same as virgin Sims in T-mobile phones i believe.
#11
garbage 456 mentioned it is a nightmare to unlock.
I am looking for one of these for my bro as it is an excellent phone for the 3 network.
What's involved in unlocking?

And Tesco in O2 phones?
They're partners or something like that anyway.

is this Unlokable?

I have this phone and it has never worked properly. nice features but too many software bugs, poor battery life when you want to use the features, 2MP camera looks more like VGA quality and nokia refuse to release any fixes via firmware.

Just have a look at the nokia official forums for a massive stream of complaints.

AVOID!

Does this have Wi=fi, can't see any reference to it on the blurb on the orange site?

On the contrary, i use this phone on 3 and i think it is the best phone EVER invented. If you take up the £5 unlimited (subj. to fair use) internet add-on , these are some of the things you can do with this phone ..

- Surf internet hot spots (or at home) using wi-fi
- Browse the FULL internet using opera mini (this is awesome! and we're not talking a single column WAP-ish browsing experience)
- use Skype (free on 3)
- use Microsoft Messenger (free on 3)
- use FRING (free Voip/SIP utility that allows you to use your skype out credit to call any landline).
- FRING also integrates with Messenger & Google Talk.
- Use the phone as a USB modem on your laptop. Mobile broadband anyone?
- Vyke to send sms's over the web for 1p each (Thanks to the person who posted this!)
- Use the phone as a bluetooth modem to surf the web on PDA.

Granted, the firmware does need an update as there are a few bugs, but with all the features above, i can live with them. For £20 a month (with 500 mins thrown in), i really can't complain. Can you?

Best phone since sliced bread. I don't think any phone this size even comes close to what this baby can do.

On another note, those thinking of joining 3, don't forget you can get £60 credit to share (30 quid each) if you get a friend to recommend you. That's almost 2 months worth of line rental. There should be loads of 3 users on this forum :)

As mentioned before, the only phones that can connect *directly* to Skype are on Three's X-Series (which includes the Three-branded version of the E65).

However, using Fring (a java program you download to your phone), you can call your Skype buddies either using wifi or your data connection.

I have been using an E65 daily for nearly 12 months and have never had a problem with it at all. Battery lasts for ages (unless you have wi-fi on all the time), and camera is fine for quick snaps.

Here's another vote for the E65 (the best phone I've owned) and several for Three (please check them out before you renew your contract).

Anybody here picked up a dirt-cheap 3 Skypephone?

Thanks edi, torn between this and the recent Sony p990i, though this seems a lot lot smaller.

3 unlimited addon is not Unlimited, its Fair use....... (Just so you know)

Also, I had this phone. The camera is shocking and it's a bit sluggish when switching menus sometimes but it's a very nice looking phone. Sadly I twisted mine in half when I was angry. Bought a k800i from carphone warehouse on orange for £69 and I much prefer it to the e65.

hehe .. nowadays, everything seems to be 'fair use' ..
A term i think should be banned. But in all fairness, i think it's 1 GB, which is plenty for mobile browsing.

This might interest a few of you.
As it is a smart phone, you can install Sav Nav software on this phone such as TomTom.
You will require a bluetooth GPS receiver, sold separately.

Blah, I hate "unlimited" fair use policies. I have "unlimited" internet but because I download too much the speed is capped during peak times.
I have "unlimited" calls on my mobile. Fair policy means that it's actually 2000 minutes, not that I ever use that much! Just hate that it's not what it says on the tin!

totally agree.
I don't know how they get away with it.

BTW, you can also get little applications from google. It runs on your phone let's you use googlemaps, gmail etc...

I do agree with some of the bad points about this mobile that people are quoting.

I bought mine from foneplanet and even though it has been full of issues since day one, they will have nothing of it and force me to use nokia to repair it. Which, if anyone needs them to do something for you, beware. They are useless at service.

This phone is excellent, its features are some of the best available, size and looks is very cool. It does suffer from a buzzing keypad issue which underlying has an effect on the battery. The batt on my phone lasts for 2 days with bluetooth and wifi off. Nokia say this is normal.

However, I have got an iphone now and I am keeping my e65, its still a top of the range handset. This deal for £99 is amazing. I would snap this up if I diddnt already have it!!

Excellent phone, excellent deal. Just get on top of nokia if it goes wrong!

You can use sip client instead on any network. OK for Skype calls.

Unfortunately my experience is different. The last two times I've bought phones from Orange Accessories (fulfilled by Dextra Solutions - nothing to do with Orange BTW) they have both been in terrible condition: scratches on case & screen, missing/broken parts and dents on bottom of phone (probably from being dropped). They claim the phones are 14 day returns... the reality is they are repaired phones, anything up to 12 months old.

Your mileage may vary.

this deal has been running for 2weeks.........

got mine at day 1- didnt thought it to be a "hot" deal otherwise would have posted it on here!- due to out dated spec 2meg cam for example

p.s was £79 - also got it unlocked by calling orange u will need to top up £20

Nice phone and well made. Unfortunately the camera is not very good and also crashes quite alot (software bugs!)

Battery life on the low side as well, but overall not a bad phone though if it didn't crash often then i could put up with the rest of short comings!

Hmm, are you sure edi? To my knowledge Skype uses a proprietary P2P protocol and a SIP client wouldn't work with it. A SIP client works with SIP services only..

The handset is delivered directly from Orange. Last one I received was a refurb Moto Razr.. abs Mint condition :)

Sorry StormB that was info from edi after he asked me :) I thought the question was about voip so said just use the built in SIP client.

I've got an e65 which I use mainly because it is one of the only small form factor handsets with wifi and SIP client built-in. This means as long as you can get a wifi signal you can use whatever voip provider you want and dial out using the native sip client. When you hit a contact it asks whether you want a normal call or an internet call so it's as seamless as that (well other than you have to set up the wifi access point).

I used skype out once but the quality wasn't that great so I haven't bothered since. If you really needed skype out as compared to normal voip then it's probably acceptable.
