I've only seen this phone available as an 18 month contract new. However, for a 12 month contract being a clearance model maybe not so bad after all.

A good deal I think..not really sure as I haven't been watching these lately. However, fantastic and under-rated handset I think. Very slim yet packs in a lot of features including wifi and native SIP client for VOIP.

12 months free over the phone, but no Quidco then:-(

HOT deal! Specs here: http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_e65-1860.php

Might go for one myself!

I'd prob go for the one on thephonespot, since osps asks for original statement. But I've been on osps for 3 years now and they're very reliable.

Has anyone seen whether these inclusive minutes are ANY Network? I cannot see a description anywhere. Also can you order this and get it delivered to someone else? Many thanks.

This is an excellent phone, i've been using one for around 6 months. It has some great features and is simple to use.

Anyone know if there's a compatible wired car kit available for this phone?

Thanks
#14

Wired will be harder to find.

Other stores available...
#15
Be a little careful now: they are now operated by the e2save office and staff (who are incompetent compared to the old osps).

Being reading up on feedback for this company

It mostly isn't looking good

Or is that unfair?

I would wish to use my payg o2 number with this deal.
By the looks of it that may be used as a complication for me not to receive cashback
#17
I'm on a contract with e2save, got my cashback no worries.
#18
This phone has a good sprinkling of bad reviews regarding the buttons on the front not working, also it seems it does not have an alarm function which is a massive oversight.
#19
I can confirm it does have an alarm function. Also, I've never had any problems with the front buttons and I've had the phone for 3 months.
#20
This phone does have alarm function, but no recurring alarm, i.e. alarm every day at a specific time. Though having said that, one can find a free alarm download, so that's not really a problem.

Anyone gone for this yet?

"By using reconditioned/clearance stock, we are able to offer you even further savings on your monthly line rental! These items are either ex-demonstration, trial or mail order returned. These are not flawed products although they may carry very minor cosmetic marks. For your peace of mind, each and every handset has been quality inspected by our engineers & reconditioned if necessary. Each handset also comes with a full years manufacturers warranty. Please note that reconditioned handsets are usually repackaged once tested and do not come in the original branded box. These products are only packaged with a manual and charger, other accessories and memory cards are not guaranteed."

I've had one of these for about 1 month & its great.

I use a Parrot Minikit with it in the car & its also pretty nifty!

Excellent Phone!!

But I cant sign to CPW for my contract although im not worried about them going bust, they have screwed up a few times and do need to be chased...

*AND*

If I remember the o2 contracts are billed via CPW and they are the service provider and o2 provide the airtime, id rather just do direct with the network...

unless things have changed and we are signed DIRECTLY to o2...?
#27
How is the company making a profit?

Hi,

Can somebody confirm whether 0845/08744/0870 are included in O2 CPW contracts?

Thanks

Hi,

Can somebody confirm whether 0845/08744/0870 are included in O2 CPW contracts?

Thanks

The O2 CPW comfirmed this to me in email on 25th July for a Price match deal.

"Hi,

As per conversation today I can confirm that 0870, 0844, 0845, 0808, 0500 DOES come out of your inclusive minutes. Once all your minutes have been used up you will be charged at 20p/m. I can also advise that you can call any UK mobile number and any UK landline number starting with 01, 02 or 03. Numbers that DO NOT come out of your inclusive minutes are as follows; 0871, 07744. These are charged at 35p/m.
Carphone Warehouse needs to make you aware that this is subject to chnage in October this year, you will be notified in due course.

Many Thanks for your call today.

Kind Regards,"

If they DONT make you aware of this when you take the contract out are you legally allowed to cancel in October? :giggle:

I'm seriously tempted by this, but it seems too good to be true!

Can anyone confirm if the service provider can be unlocked? If it's a 3G phone can it be used with "ordinary" sim cards?

e2save site has "All Price Plans exclude Itemised Billing at £0.99 per month" under the tariffs, so an extra £12.?
osps bundles insurance (£7.99pm) and vip support (£2.34pm) which would need to be cancelled.

I'm interested in this deal as I'm looking for a WLAN mobile device (I can't seem to trust the 770) but I can't seem to find much info on it's wifi capabilities apart from that it does it in landscape (which is a bit annoying). Has anyone tried running any Flash files on it like with YouTube and the such or playing flash games online?

Does anyone know how well it handles a navigator programme like TT 6 or Navicore? I used to run TT 6 on an XDA Exec which was a bit slow, leading to a missed turn every now and again.
[admin]#33
I"ve got one xfirebladex so can help a bit. Wifi mode has nothing to do with landscape - wifi is just a connection option. Anything like landscape when browsing would be controlled by the browser software and I don't think it does landscape by default actually.

If you're just looking for a wlan device for browsing then e65 isn't probably best as the screen is too small for any serious use. The resolution is 240x320 which is not comparable to the n770 resolution.

The main reason I like the wifi option is to make voip calls when at home or anywhere with an open wifi connection.

Edit: Here's a link to a discussion on Flash and e65 http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/discussions/board/message?board.id=messaging&message.id=3936

Sorry, I was referring to the browser in portrait when I said wifi, my bad. As for the content, it seems best for regular browsing (i.e. cheating in pub quizzes etc.) so I might give it a miss. Thanks Admin!

On the other hand I might take up the offer and sell the phone to buy a tablet instead, the O2 deal is worth doing alone as O2 retentions aren't helping out with my contract at the moment.
[admin]#35
Yeah for usable browsing personally I wouldn't get an e65 as the resolution is too low. The browser is great and will take just about any page and render it properly like a normal web browser but it's a lot of scrolling around in 240x320 even though it is rendered fine. I use the browser for browsing the site here of course ;) and also things like checking train times, look up some stuff in google, things like that. I"m also pretty fussy though and like a full screen or at least n770 800x480 resolution to browse and post with. The big reason I like it is that the form factor is very good considering the functionality - you won't find any other wifi equipped phone this size (or at least nothing that I know about in the UK).
#36
Does anyone know if it's likely to come unlocked?
#37
O2 phones are pretty much always unlocked

Just spoke to OSPS. They are doing a 12 months free on the E65 if you order by phone. I did specifically ask whether non-geographic (08xx) numbers were included in the tarrif and the sales agent said that he can confirm they are NOT included since June this year. I would therefore request people to check this thoroughly before taking the plunge with O2 for 08xx numbers to later find that they are actually not included.

i spoke to OSPS earlier, and they told me they do NOT have any E65's left in stock!!!.... the geezer tried to flog me a samsung u600 instead!.

Usually the sales people doesnt seem to know much. When I called the OSPS customer services, they asked me to call the CPW-O2 section if I want my answer. The CPW-O2 verbally told me its included and sent me an email confirmation at my request as in my last post.
