The new Nokia E71 is only £229 on Three Pre-pay. INSTORE
Stores get more delivered on Tuesday.

EDIT: its now online on their website but for £239 (including £10 credit)

Possible £11 back if buying online via Quidco on the Three website? making it the cheaper price ( £228 online with £10 credit as well)

Not ALL stores will have it but big stores definitely do.Stocks are limited at the moment but my local store has them.

It supports Flash lite so works with Youtube.It has GPS built in, you can get TomTom for S603rd edition as well.

Nokias are usually quite easy to unlock, ive not found info for this YET though.

* Form: Monoblock with full keyboard
* Dimensions: 114 x 57 x 10 mm
* Weight: 127 g
* Volume: 66 cc
* Full keyboard
* High quality QVGA display

* Size: 2.36"
* Resolution: 320 x 240 pixels (QVGA)
* Up to 16 million colors
* TFT active matrix (QVGA)
* Two customisable home screen modes

It's usually nearer £300 everywhere else. Yes this has been posted for sim free but that requires Quidco and noone has confirmed it works yet or received it.

It looks like a great phone and great reviews so far. Also has GPS!

I've just noticed they have added this phone to the 3 Website now on pre-pay as well but for £239, however that does include £10 credit. It wasnt on there earlier when i checked as i have been phoning round.

They have a choice of Grey or White. Instore in two shops now they have said £229 to me.

I'm mid contract and when i rang three they wanted to charge me £249 i was like ummm no!

really wanted this phone but it seems after speaking to 3 it has agps
here is the info i was given if it helps anyone
Priti] An A-GPS receiver can address these problems in several ways, using an Assistance Server:

The Assistance Server can locate the phone roughly by what cell site it is connected to on the cellular network.

The Assistance Server has a good satellite signal, and lots of computation power, so it can compare fragmentary signals relayed to it by cell phones, with the satellite signal it receives directly, and then inform the cell phone or emergency services of the cell phone's position.

It can supply orbital data for the GPS satellites to the cell phone, enabling the cell phone to lock to the satellites when it otherwise could not, and autonomously calculate its position.

It can have better knowledge of ionospheric conditions and other errors affecting the GPS signal than the cell phone alone, enabling more precise calculation of position. (See also Wide Area Augmentation System)

Some A-GPS solutions require an active connection to a cell phone (or other data) network to function, in others [2] [3] it simply makes positioning faster and more accurate, but is not required.

As an additional benefit, it can reduce both the amount of CPU and programming required for a GPS Phone by offloading most of the work onto the assistance server. (This is not a large amount for a basic GPS - many early GPSs ran on 386/16 or similar hardware).

[chris] so basicly to use the gps it would have to connect to the network?
[Priti] yes
[Priti] Are you planning to buy a new contract online ?
[chris] thanks very much for your time, was only looking at pay as you go, already have a 3 contract at the moment
[Priti] ok

still going to vote hot - good price for this phone

A-GPS just speeds up the first fix to GPS sats. it's an option that can be turned off on all GPS equiped Series 60 phones. doesn't have to use any data if you don't want it to.

Think of it as an extra feature if you want to use it. If you do enable it the amount of data it uses is tiny..........your talking Kb's not Mb's

Yeh but thats pre-order. i'd be using it on three uk anyway and im impatient :)
They ALL will have 3 months free with nokia maps, its a standard trial

You can get garmin, tomtom and sygic for this phone which wont need to use the net to get the maps anyway
#14
hi... any idea how much 3 charges to get the phone unlocked? thanks in advance
#15
When you're selling it on in a few years it wil be worth more unlocked (ie purchasing through nokia) than it would being locked to a network.
#16
I read somewhere, you can get like a SD/ or whatever media card it takes, that you can use a program to avoid paying the Net costs, this might be not true, but if anyone out there does, then im well on my way to getting this phone sim free, and getting the sd card or whatever media it takes to use as a Sat Nav tooo.
Theres plenty of mobile applications out there that simulate nokia maps and use the onboard GPS....

Picked up my phone today! So far loving it! Google maps works amazingly fast and ive installed Garmin XT onto it for full sat-nav with voice directions!
I've been playing with it all afternoon and the battery still hasnt gone down one bar!

Putting my w890i into retirement i think!

Garman XT? is that free?
#19
No its not free...

I just tried TomTom but it currently doesnt load properly on the E71 so a no go at the minute.

I also tried Sygic which doesnt activate properly as it didnt recognise the numbers on the keyboard.

However the newer version, Sygic Mcguider works perfectly and actually has more direction and road detail than my TomTom standalone satnav as well as speed limits.

The Nokia maps app has also just been 'tweaked'so you can get free voice directions. The nokia maps app is v quick at getting location compared to my standalone tomtom.

Looks like quidco's only 5% for Nokia now :-(, really fancied this phone as well and would prefer an unlocked version. Oh well.

I doubt it will be long before you can unlock these with phoenix. or just pay 3 for the unlock code ( around £15-£20 usually)
Then change its product code to flash it to unbranded firmware, not that the 3 branding is bad anyway. the icons change when you change the selected theme.

are you sure three will allow to get a pay as you go phone unlocked or is it just a guess from your side??? reason for asking is neither i could find any information on the web or in their shop or via their customer service.

thanks.

Good Q, maybe ring them up and check? I thought the laws changed recently meaning they have to?

If not a nokia turbo sim might work (£25), or pay to get the unlock code from one of the many BB5 imei unlockers online(£29)

Unfortunately the phone is too new for there to be enough information on this so far

Three CS charged £15 (Credit Card) to unlock my Huawei E220 modem.

Contract customers "might" need to complete the minimum term.

Bought one today and CS can't unlock the phone for at least a month. Some new phones CS don't have the unlock code for.

I'm taking down to a local phone shop to get it unlocked for £30 :-(
