I have found this in Coventry's ASDA instore: Nokia Lumia 520 O2 mobile for £45 (was £90) and seems a good deal. ASDA Online sells it for £99.00. It could be available in other places as well.

good price. I saw they'll not be supporting wp8 after September next year, just to bear in mind. at this price I'm tempted to try one.

Good job this phone supports the latest WP8.1 update then... which will be supported until at least July 2017 :)

Lumia 520 is a brilliant phone for it's price. For anyone looking for a budget smartphone, this is worth looking at, especially for this price. BTW, all Lumia's will soon get the WP8.1 update from their networks (or you can get it now if you wish to, using the free Developer Preview program).

All phones which support Windows phone 8 will support 8.1 and the next iteration of the OS. This is a cracking bargain phone which will benefit from fully downloadable offline satnav as well as the exclusive Nokia apps. All you need is a decent screen protector as it is prone to smudges.

Great deal for a basic windows phone with lots of features. I have been using wp 8.1 since beta release, great improvements to and finishing touches on an already great platform. No front facing camera for all those wanting to skype etc. but the rest of it is great for the extremely low price. Hot!

I agree, however I believe this phone to have build quality issues, a friend of mine has this phone and has suffered from the power button failing and so have plenty of others. Since I've witnessed it myself I would be cautious of recommending this model.

Here's a fix which might be permanent or at least restore the power button functionality for a while longer (obviously don't bother if under warrantty, get the phone repaired/replaced) >

Last week it was only the 520 on Vodafone and not O2, if the op is correct and this is O2 it's a different deal.

which ASDA store please ? Walsgrave or Whitley ?
#25
My 76 year old father in law just bought this as he wanted a budget smartphone and he loves it. I must say i was impressed with it too for the money and far better than i expected even compared to my iPhone 5s and Samsung GS3.

Windows phones are certainly coming on to when i used to have my old QWERTY HTC bricks with Windows

I downgraded to this, it's a decent phone with a ridiculously long battery life. It's a definite downgrade on android but I'm trying to be less attached to my phone these days.

I'm looking a phone for my mum who needs it to be easy to use. She likes the idea of a smart phone for the photos etc but won't use internet, just calls and texts. Any idea if this would be ok for her?

Thanks x

Yes perfect for that. My mum did the same coming from her very old Motorola flip thing as she wanted to join us in this decade (plus her phone battery was more or less well past it).
She's happy with it other than the battery life - as her old phone she could charge it once a fortnight or more - I have told her that a smart phone will use way more.

They still cost £95 on ebay it's really good price maybe I will buy few and sell them on ebay with double profit haha X)

Not in Gravesend. Has anyone found this over anywhere else?

I think these can be unlocked with a paid for code (they will need your IMEI) I'm not sure how the software updates are pushed out.
I think with Windows Phone to can developer unlock the phone and apply upgrades but this might need a paid for Microsoft phone developer account.
Windows phones get their updates via the carrier, O2 in this case.

This phone is very popular and makes up a large portion of the Windows Phone population.
