Possible to get a brand new Lumia 1020 with a built in 41MP camera for ~£5 more via a O2 refresh deal with a free grip case and earphones via redemption with Nokia.

Mentioning as an alternative to think about although the 735 is a newer phone.

I'm assuming you ordered the phone in black.

The yellow version seems to get sent out okay and I find it looks fine.

Wrapped up in a flip case the yellow does not even show too much.

Unsure what the colour the camera grip will be...maybe they send black for the yellow phones and yellow for the black phones?! Probably whatever the person packing the order grabs in the warehouse.

If you buy this keep in mind that the charging plate and speaker will not arrive until the New Year............bought this phone 2 weeks ago and the MS site where you apply for the freebies is still not accepting the IMEI number of the phone. Apparently O2 have to send the IMEI numbers to MS/Nokia and this takes several weeks.....

Phone will happily accept a giffgaff sim without unlocking - you may have to swap sims though as this takes a nano sim.

Call the 0844 number on the form web page. They'll sort it out quicker and will let you know when you can then successfully submit the claim form.

Good luck. Been told the 1020 is out of stock and they have cancelled my order! After 2 weeks and having taken the upgrade fee, NOW they say they haven't any stock. Terrible service, 'Tough S***'attitude, no effort made to offer compromise or fulfill my original order. Cancelling both my contracts.

Yeah it apparently takes 2 weeks, which is understandable, as you could claim the offer and return the phone during that return window that O2 offers. Tad annoying though.

i thought this was already posted at £139? Bought one for my mum and if i was indebted to ios (bought apps) i prob would sell my 4s and jump over.

I presume this is locked to 02.

Has anyone found a reliable & reasonably priced unlocking service for the 735 please?

On eBay they seem to be about £13.

Thanks

This comes with Cortana? Microsoft really pushing the old Halo angle on these devices

gud 1 :) thanks

Was really impressed with the 520 only switched because of a lack of third party software - the Nokia stuff is great - hope Microsoft can make these competitive they ahve a lot going for them.

Little off topic but I am actually looking forward to Cortana being on the new windows 10 :P

If you know someone with an O2 contract they can do it for free.

It has 4G.

I bought this phone the other week when it was on sale, it's a pretty good phone. But I still have to get in touch with Nokia Care to claim that free charging plate and speaker. Bit of a hassle but can't really complain since they're free.

I have purchased one of these the other week when they were £129.99. There’s a few things you should know.

Firstly the phone comes locked, and is classed as PAYG. If you want it unlocked on PAYG you have to wait 12 months and pay them £15.
If you’re a contract customer they will unlock it for free. However, what O2 *didn’t* tell me, and what caused a 2 week stretch of shenanigans, is that the contract sim MUST be used inside the phone for a while. (24 hours is recommended). This caused a problem for me; firstly my sim is Micro; this phone only takes Nanos. Secondly, I couldn’t afford to have my number out of service (Personal reasons). However, I had no choice. So I swapped my SIM from Micro to Nano (This took 3 minutes) and used the nano sim in the Lumia. Then I put in the request (Again) to get it unlocked. Then I swapped back from the Nano to the Micro (This took 10 HOURS).
Reason being I wanted to use another number in this phone, and the Micro in my original phone that came with my O2 contract.

So bear this in mind if you're asking a friend with an O2 contract to do this for free; they need a Nano SIM, and will have to use your phone for about 24 hours.

Next up, the free gift. You can’t redeem them at the moment. If you enter the IMEI number into the promo site it’ll say the IMEI number has already been used. Having spoken to Nokia Care they’ve confirmed that this is false; basically O2 have yet to submit your IMEI number. However they’re ALSO suffering from technical problems with their website. I’m now having mine submitted manually. But to do this they need proof of purchase. When I placed the order I didn’t get any. I got an email saying that my order was ready to collect from store and that’s it.

My online O2 account shows that I have purchased this phone, and I’ve sent that to Nokia Care. I’ve yet to hear anything back on that, but the people I’ve spoken to have been helpful. BTW, Microsofts website on this is nigh on useless, so if you do need Nokia Care the number is: 0844 409 6620

The phone itself is rather bloody lovely though, must say. Worth the £139.99 let alone the £129.99

Edit: "Make it personal with changeable back covers" - These probably won't be cheap. The back covers have the gubbins in them for the wireless charging. Any covers you get for this that are cheap won't allow you to wireless charge, if that's what you want. Won't be like the days of the Nokia 3310 when you could get covers for £2 down at the local market. These will be £15+ a pop.

You have to wait 2 weeks before claiming afaik. That's why it's not working if you're trying via the website.

This is the sort of thing Microsoft need to be on top of, and sadly aren't. It all adds up to part of the buying experience, MS need to up their game.

It's more than 2 weeks. Mine is now on day 18 and still doesn't work, hence me dealing with Nokia Care directly.

It has been two weeks and it still doesn't work. But I spoke with them through their online chat system and they said my IMEI is eligible. Sadly they said they couldn't do anything to fix the problem, and said I would have to call Nokia Care. Which I will do at a later time, no rush at all.

I wonder if there has been a change in policy.. . . . I've bought countless refresh deals, and unlocked via my SIM only account, and I've never had to have a SIM card anywhere near the phone I'm unlocking. The unlock code normally comes though in less than 24 hours.

HI there
does that deal only work if you already have an 02 contract? ( sorry old and slow so need things explained to me...)
am looking for a nokia Lumia 1020 for a present for my son as apparently the camera is best of the lot.

You don't have to wait 12 months they will do it right away, I bought the 1020 a couple of weeks ago, topped up £15 and requested O2 unlock it. Code came through a couple of days later.

I had a similar problem with the free camera grip for the 1020. When I phoned them they put it through manually and I could request the grip the next day. They didn't ask for proof of purchase, just confirmation of the date I bought it - though I accept this is a different offer so there may be different requirements.

bought this back in October when same offer in 02 shop great phone and specs for the money ,free wireless plate charger came in colour black and speaker came in green and took about 25 days to arrive and also got 10gb storage on one drive links to my xbox one and laptop with no problems heat added

I didn't think that you did TBH, but honestly it really is quoted in their T&C. They may ignore it, but it's there.

If you're a Pay & Go customer, your O2 mobile can be unlocked 12 months after purchase for a one-off £15 fee which we'll deduct from your airtime balance. This policy may vary according to the handset you have purchased.

What, any android phone whatsoever?

At the same price point it seems to be comparable, though it is a bit of a niche product given the front facing camera.

Will it work with a tesco mobile sim? Which I think is O2
