Good price for a great phone. Too bad its on Vodafone.

BadBoyTC - im sure it can be unlocked - or is there something im missing like heavy vodafone branding? is it something i should avoid as i was tempted to buy?

Most market phone stalls can unlock this, they will have a BB5 unlocker. Alternatively, it can be done yourself using the Dejan software with a DKU-5 lead. As for the Vodafone branding, that can be removed yourself too.

Some reviews seem to say the Sony K800 series are better, I have been looking for a cheap PAYGO phone the K750 has been attractively priced, and the K800 seems to have a better camera, how does this compare? Thank you.

yes, you can unlock unbrand the software for under £10 or DIY.

but you will still have to stick with (if there is any) a voda logo printed on the handset itself or voda branded box or manual.

can someone clarify the amount of branding on the handset?

handset can be debranded no problem, can't remember the software atm as had hdd failure and lost the program, however; I have debranded a few.

both k800i and k750i are very good phones, both have been out for a while though. 1.5yr, 2.5yr respectively.

i find SE phones very easy to use and reliable, Nokia not so. but Nokia has better PC synch support.

so if you rely on your PC calendar, contact then Nokia, otherwise SE.

I wouldnt advise DIY on N73 using software... these are available for under £2 @ flebay :)

Better spend a fiver or tenner and get the job done in a high street shop

Easy to unlock and easy to un-brand as well you just need to be 100% you have the right code.

The phone it's self has a vodafone logo on the key to the right of the 3&6 for internet and also the vodafone logo in the metal just below the screen. The box will be vodafone branded.

Replacement covers are easily available and easy to change if you want rid of everything vodafone.

I've unlocked and de-branded mine (when i debranded i flashed with music edition firmware) and got a black cover.

I found my vodafone N70 to be unusable. It was vaguely tolerable after having the standard firmware put on it -- but I still found it very slow and unreliable, with a poor battery life.

It's also an old release of Symbian with a low resolution screen. The camera's nowhere near as good as that of a K750 -- which is what I went out and bought on PAYG, and put my SIM in, simply because the N70 was so frustrating to use.

(In the end, I got so annoyed with the N70 I threw it, very hard, against a wall. Then sold it for spares and repair on eBay.)

Just spent a while looking at phones on behalf of my girlfriend. This looked cool, and had all the features she wanted, but most of the reviews and comments I've seen haven't been too positive.
Seemingly the phone has some significant reliability issues, and also is noticeably slow when navigating menus and features. Apparently the N73 fixes most of the issues.
She got the nokia 6234 this morning as it was cheaper, did most of the same things, and seems well made.

Fabula, there was a N73 bargain posted here the other day, here.

i was given a N70 by my company on orange. i unlocked unbrand the software in a shop for £8 couple of months back, before knowing it was able to DIY!

i haven't use it, but passed it on. what i realised was that it was slow with the orange software, but even worse with the generic software.

have friends used it, mix of experiences, some like it, some say the battery life isn't good, some say it's slow responds.

but it's a symbian phone, so it should give a geek's something to play with, not so much a benefit for non-geek users.

althought N73 fixes a few flaws of N70, N73 isn't much better i have heard.

i think both N70 and N73 might be just not powerful enough to run all the powerful features it's trying to deliver.

lol at your last comment....i feel the same about mine and cant wait to change as im out of contract...was going to get the n95 and sell my n70 on ebay (with nice new but very cheap cover from a HK seller on ebay) - but then i spoke to some ex-colleagues who reported that the N95 has the worst return rate ever - higher than ALL the other phones on the market put together!) - oh well

i am getting a simple phone next.....one that allows me to make calls...lol!

my work gave me a nokia 6300....simple, small and great little phone!
