Nokia N73 PAYG on T-Mobile only 74.99

PS6706 code gives you £25 off = £74.99

My first thread. Hope this helps.

Some would complain that N73 is very slow, but if you update its firmware to the lastest version(4.0812.4.x released - 22 May 2008), it works fine. Nice phone.

Press *#0000# to get your current firmware version.
Check the latest firmware version released by Nokia at http://europe.nokia.com/A4577224

Note: It seems that EmpireStore has cancelled all the cashback from cashback sites. I am afraid there is not any cashback available now.

Voted HOT, it has a color screen (hopefully)

**** phone. The symbian OS on it (I believe it is v6) is not a patch on the the version found on phones like the 6233 etc. I find the OS on mine to be frustratingly slow, even after firmware updates. The knob on the joystick will fall off after 6 months also...

Also, the bluetooth on this is the worst I have ever come across on a phone...

terrible phone, mine does not ring sometimes when somebody calls, just get missed call message later

Nah, that's the iPhone...

One of the best phones Nokia have ever released, Voted Hot.

The lens on this camera is amazing even though it's only 3.2m/pix the picture quality is nowt short of fantastic, it runs TomTom and loads of other kiler apps that just cannot be ran on any other phone. I have had one for 2 years and wouldn't swap it.

Keep the firmware up to date and you won't have any issues. Bluetooth works fine on mine? Bargain at this price....

BTW: Cue Sony Fanboys.......

The 6233 isn't a Symbian phone. It has Nokia S40 v3 on it.

This is an excellent phone... have used it for more than a year, before moving on to N95. never had any bluetooth issues whatso ever.
IMHO, All nokia phones are symbian phones, this is a S60 operating system phone, make sure you update the phone to the latest firmware always and you will have it running very efficiently, this is a smart phone where as the S40 (6233 etc) phones are non-smart phones, so they are bit quicker.
dropped calls, i dont think are related to the phone as I have same issue with my E90 & my previous N95, I am on O2 and I have always had this problem with them.
the camera on this is excellent and the video recording too.

believe me, if you like the price, buy it, you wont regret it.

Apologies, the S60 r 3 OS on the N73 is tosh, whereas the S40 OS on the 6233 and other more recent Nokia phones, is much better. In my opinion that is... I use both a 6233 and an N73 and hate my N73 with a passion.

So what does the 'S' stand for if it is not Symbian then - 'series'?
#9
yes agree good phone, and for that price a steal... how do you go about updating the firmware? thanks

? Operating System .... i used a 6233 and an n80 - internet on n80 is brilliant but buggy. now i use a 6120 and it is as good as the best - n95 etc .. lacking multimedia functions but has great internet. The 6233 however is the best phone to use - butons are easy nice battery - top phone , never liked this n73 anyway

I know what OS stands for!!! I was referring to the S in S40/S60...
#12
Yes S stands for Series. I have a nokia 6120 which is Symbian based and its great. I did have a friend that had a Nokia N73 though and he said it was really slow. Sometimes the modifcations the networks make to the software doesn't help things.

#14
Same as above . Any pointers about the cashback of £5.25? Cheers
#15
Hey,

Where do I get the upto date firmware???
#16
Please post some links.
#17
I've had this phone about a year and a half and can't understand the bad reviews it gets as it's been brilliant for me, certainly doesn't drop calls or have any bluetooth problems and can be on for weeks without any problems, only reason it goes off is when i forget to charge it. Runs tomtom brilliantly and the camera on it is great for a phone, good flash on it too. Here is a sample photo. As soon as i got mine i changed the code on it and flashed it with the OS from the Music edition version of the N73 and it's been a rock ever since.

Hey,

You get it straight from nokia, plug your phone into PC and run the software update. You can trick the update software to thinking you have a different version of the phone or from a different region to get different versions of the firmware. Some are more stable than others. Have a google on changing the product code on an n73

Hot indeed!

I've used one of these for over 18 months now, didn't bother upgrading the other month as there's nothing substantially better out there..

Joystick still works on mine, it's pretty fast, and has an amazing web browser.. it's a tad chunky but I'm used to it now, and good to know it's that cheap if I lose mine..

I've got an N73, updated to latest firmware, its a good phone, its bulky and a little slow, but the battery life is good, lots of apps, good internet access (Opera Mini 4 is the way to go).

Keys are small though, so not good for big fingers.
#28
it is a good product. but is there any cashback?
#29
Excellent find!

Bit confused now though, I was thinking of getting this I have been so pleased with my 6233 but having read the other replies it sound like I may be best sticking with it. Would like the smartphone features of the N73 and SatNav on the phone would be cool but may now save the pennies in readiness for the 3G iPhone (possible launch date tomorrow - 10th June)

That'll make for a good Fathers Day present!

Phone is good size and camera is great. The software lets you down though. it is slow to open apps and turns itself off all the time. I got rid of mine yesterday as it was turning itself off up to 4 times a day!. the last n73 i had did the same , that is why i got another one hoping it was just a dodgy one. but looking on the net there are loads of others with the same problem. I had it upgraded to the latest firmware too. gone back to the bulky but reliable 6680 at the moment until i can afford an n82 which is supposed to be the bees knees!. i wish this phone worked well as the camera is great but it just doesn't.
#32
i got this phone about a month ago and have had no problems what so ever (apart from "zoomed in " images are little blurred . Even used sat nav on it and it is fine!

thanks v much for the info. updated to music edition! here

Terrible phone - this was the phone that put me off nokias completely (i've been a nokia phone owner for years).

They are very slow after being turned on for a few hours, the firmware is still full of bugs, and although they will run fine for a few months - the problems WILL start to appear later in the phones life. Plus this is on T-Mobile - an expensive network with very average coverage.

If you do decide to buy one, then make sure you debrand it and put on the stock nokia firmware..guaranteed to be newer and more stable than the network branded one :)

Never had any trouble with mine and i've had it atleast 2 years. Much better than the non symbian OS nokias, i've got tomtom, snes, mega drive and a few symbian games on it and its great.

Its slow to boot but worth the wait.
