only thing I can say is the battery lasts 1 day so if you need it for longer without a charger, look for a proporta charger also. other than that, I loved the phone

screen is amazing at 352x412 resolution - higher than that of almost any phone on the market, bar VGA ones obviously.
#5
Really great phone but I wouldn't pay 79.99 for one, especially a recon'
#6
I wouldnt pay £79 for this when you can pick up a NEW N73 (great phone) for not much more , voted cold
#7
bit of advice to you all reading this

the phone suckes i think compared to whats on the market now picked on up for £42 on ebay a couple of months ago. wouldnt pay £79.99 out for one. call virgin up and get a better recon for less prada was £65 a month ago see whats on offer this month.

the n73 is a buggy and slow mess... with poor buttons for texting and a history of joysticks falling out and generally flaky operation...GREAT :)

Where can we get the n73 for not much more?

I have N80, painfully slow menus operation and battery life poor but good camera and screen

Yes this is a great phone I have no probs with the batery like other users have done. I love the sybian based phones and have a 2 gig card with tomtom on runs a treat you nead a seperate gps receiver though. Perhaps 80.00 is a bit on the steap side

prob mean the symbian phones. I think half the population would love a sybian based phone.

oops steady on

Warning - the last two "reconditioned" phones I bought from the Orange Accessories website were in very poor condition (dirty, pieces of the case missing, scratches on the screen and marks on the case from where the phone had been dropped by the original owner on a pavement!).

The phones were obviously just second-hand phones that had been swapped-out by Orange under warranty and then repaired. (Note: the website describes these phones as being ones which are returned by customers under the "Orange 14-day Money Back Guarantee").

Your mileage may vary.

I had it too, was one of my crappiest phones - dodgy slider, buggy wifi, abysmal battery life, numerous shutdowns - was secretly pleased when I lost it. My N95 isn't perfect but is a marked improvement.

£89 on Tmobile at currys

This was the worst phone i ever had, battery needed charging twice a day. The menu was slow, so you end up pushing the buttons 2 or 3 times thinking it hadn't pushed. Then you end up having selected the wrong function.

Never again, live & learn tho.

Sorry "Cold".

this is a great phone. didnt have any problems with mine at all. i've recently upgraded to an n95 but i wouldnt have any problems using the n80 again if i had to.

Nokia has fixed problem of slow nenu with software update and for better battery life if you dont need 3g turn this off see post on nokia forums

overall though n81 should have kept the same screen res

Not sure what phones half the people in this thread have, but its not the N80.

My N80 is great. I agree battery life isn't amazing, but 1 day is massively exagerated, mine lasts probably three days on average. Perhaps you should try turning your bluetooth and wireless off when not in use...

The slide mechanism isn't great, its too easy to slide it up in your pocket and its constantly being unlocked like that (sliding it back doesnt automatically lock it either). Apart from that, its been great. Great screen, runs quickly enough for a smartphone, mine hardly ever crashed (think its crashed only a couple of times, nowhere near as many times as my N70 did, or even my TyTn2 does)

I too have an N80 (bought from this company) and apart from a few minor niggles which I've since resolved, this is a TOP phone.

There's no point saying you can get a new N73 for the same price or less, because the N73 hasn't got wifi, which sets this phone apart. It's like saying you can get a Ford Escort for £1 - so why buy a Mondeo Estate for £2?

This is a great phone. Like someone else said, jam TomTom on it, Fring and Truphone for internet calling/IM via wifi and you're all set.

Great deal. Paid £89.99 for mine a couple months ago, wouldn't be without it now.

Battery life's not that bad, and if I'm away from a power supply for a few days I just pocket my spare battery and swap the other one out when it's low.

Some fools don't see a bargain when it's under their nose. They must have big noses!

Due to its high res screen, this is the best smartphone I've tried for sticking tomtom on at a decent price (the qwerty windows mobiles don't really count as they're in a different size/weight league to the N80). You still need a bluetooth gps receiver mind you.

Its all about personal preference as ive got an N73 which is a fantastic phone and much better IN MY OPINION than the N80 i had before the N73.

Id recommend that unless someone who has a particular reason for needing a phone with Wifi or paricularly likes slide phones that the N73 is a higher spec than this older N80 and that for £20 more id rather have a new N73.

Id even say that the N70 on Vodafone pay and go for £70 is a better deal than this N80 having owned all 3 phones

But each to their own..........
#27
well I have n80 still going strong upgraded to the N80I firmware, you will not find a cheaper phone anywhere with Wifi, UPnP VOIP functionality. Can't beleive someone said get the N73 I have one of these also I use for work and they are GARBAGE! can't use it on anything else but Nokia Carkits or you get terrible echo randomly, shuts itself down for no reason etc etc.
I know my Nseries I have had them all and the N80 for what it is is great.....
#28
This phone is the worst phone I have ever owned and promptly got rid of it on eBay as soon as the contract was up,
This looked an awesome phone when it first came out great features, but none of them worked properly constantly froze I had numerous firmware upgrades done by a nokia dealer and nothing worked. wouldn't even open up an sms without freezing.
So please do not waste your money on this piece of rubbish ( I got a Sony K810i since and what a superb phone I've had it for 6 months and no problems)

The N73 is NOT a higher spec than the N80, nowhere near infact. And the N70? I owned one of those too, now that was complete junk. The N80 with a remotely new firmware has none of the problems claimed by others here. I've also been through most of the N series, from the original N70 up to the N95 (sold that after 2 days...) and most of them inbetween. So far, the N80 has been the best of them.

Can't really compare it to something like a K810i, as they are completely different phones for different audiences. Tomtom or VOIP on a k810i? No...

That will be why Nokia still sell the N73 and N73B on Contracts and dont sell the N80 then eh??

Bottom line is this is a lot of money for a phone thats over 2 years old, particularly when its reconditioned.

Anyone who is particularly into gadgets and the features mentioned will already have a phone that does them, most people interested in recon phones id imagine will be after battery life, call quality and a decent camera / flash

As i said before each to their own

the n73 is way better so dont know what ya on about. the n73 rules with the n95 being better if you have the extra cash to spend. at the end of the day the n80 sucks and so many people here have said it. this isnt worth it for the price. end off

Evidently it a matter of opinion.

Hey, it's Christmas, whatever. But I hardly think you can shoot people down in flames (n80 sucks) for offering their recommendations. Unless it was you that was dumped in the manger, in which case I'll take your word as gospel.
#33
i thinkthe n80 sucks big time. i have had it and can said been there had that. as many others have said. a lot of c rap get something better for the price easy. this phone is over 2 years old should be way less brand new.
#34
I am on my 3rd N80 in less than a year - awful phone! My N80's latest trick is switching itself off when you send a text message! Leave well alone!
#35
Speak as you find!

Had my one for a while now and its a bloody good phone, if I didn't have to spend a fortune unlocking It Id have one at the drop of a hat!

Hot!
