Orange were selling these direct on eBay a while back, and could have been got for £120 or less.
#5

You really believe it was Orange:whistling: OK you carry on believing that
Problem with buying off ebay or similar

It was definitely Orange, as I have bought phones direct from them off eBay myself.

They are not selling them on there now so don't bother looking.

I have this and like it.
One of the best screens on the market with hvga 352x416 when most other top end phones have half the pixels with qvga 240x320

Do not expect to be unlocking this phone though.

orange will unlock PAYG phones for £20, they have to by law as youve bought the phone outright.

Nokia N80s are good, put it on 3, get an xseries addon from £5 for unlimited (really 1gig) off internet access. i stream TV from my computer at home and listen to 6 music on mine. Also google calendar is useful when available anywhere, and email, handy.

put it on 3,

That is one Network I would never use. :whistling:

Just for peoples info.
I bought an N80 off ebay, not brilliant condition, but ok, and being clever wanted to upgrade the firmware to internet edition. Unfortunately I bricked it.
I took it to my nearest nokia service centre who posted it back to nokia. (I told them I was syncing with my pc and it just locked up)
They told me that I didn't need a receipt or anything as the phone was covered by a 2 year warrenty and they hadn't been out that long (phew!)
Anyway, a week later I got the phone back and it was the same one, (imei no.)however it had a new case etc (no scratches anymore) was unlocked (I told the service centre I had got it unlocked) and was totally unbranded (said I was on O2, which I am)
I then changed the phone code (forgot last time, doh!) and reflashed the internet edition firmware, and hey presto! a recondition, unbranded, unlocked N80!

Thanks heavens for a 2 year warrenty!

So good that for the first time since I have had a contract phone I am not upgrading it this year.

Me too...

I can't find another phone that will do all the things I want it to do, in a pocketable size. For example: downloading podcasts, watch divx, surf via wifi, play mp3, GPS (with a bluetooth dongle, of course), and take decent photos.

Plus, as mentioned above, the screen is gorgeous :)

aren't these now unlockable with the BB5 unlocker from Dejan?

Edit: maybe not... N90 and N91 are...

:giggle: You think :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :whistling:

I know. Take a look:

Ebay ended items for N80 brand new, prices starting at £92 for one without a charger (no big deal,) upto around £160, plenty around the £100-£120 mark. If a seller has good feedback and 100% then its worth it IMO. Great phone although the battery lie suck compared to my 6680/6630 and I dont even use the WiFi or BT much

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I got an n80 refurb from 3 (12 month warranty) a few months back on talk 1000 (750 mins+150 sms), £100 quidco and £17.50 per month for the whole 18 month contract, total price including all mins £215 or £11.94/month. Anyone paying £180 for a refurb PAYG N80 from Orange is being slightly ripped off. also remember folks, Refurbs from Orange only have a 6 month warranty as opposed to a 2 year warranty when new.

No linls to ebay pls..

If you want to buy in flebay, you get what you pay for. You can live without a charger or a dent but not many others. Also, a refurb phone will be in pristine condition from Orange with 12 months Full warranty :)

Sorry for the link. Yes you do get what you pay for, and Orange price for a 6 month warranty refurb N80 of £190 is a rip off. Its made out that Ebay is full of dodgy sellers, those with a bit of nous about them know better. If people are concerned about buying phones that might be barred ask the seller for the imei number of the handset, simply call the network or Nokia and they will tell you if it is lost or stolen.

I was simply pointing out/giving evidence that these phones CAN be had NEW with 2 year warranty for far less than £190. For anyone who wants to check this simply do a search for N80, finished items, above £80.

Regarding Orange's warranty on reconditioned, its 6 months not 12 months:

http://www.orangeaccessories.co.uk/whatrecon.aspx

Reconditioned phones are phones that have come back to Orange through our money-back guarantee. When we get the phones we repair faults, replace parts and re-package them, ready for sale here.
Most people can’t tell the difference between a brand new phone and a reconditioned one. Also, the phones here come with a six-month warranty - this is in addition to your statutory rights.
All our reconditioned phones are on pay as you go, which is good for you because you can decide how much you want to spend each day - there’s no set amount each month.
