on the hunt for the cheap N800 listed earlier, I just got back from the nottingham store, where i picked up their last nokia N810 for £79.97 (they are ~£230 everywhere else)

it's instore only, and not everywhere will have them. but if you go looking for the N800, ask about these too, for £40 more, its a much nicer bit of kit

heres the info on the N800 - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/317883/nokia-n800-internet-tablet-down-to-/showthread.php?t=317883

Interesting, as an N800 owner I've been waiting for a replacement to the N810. It's not been announced or scooped by the gadget blogs, (Save for the spec to include Maemo with HSDPA integration).

Maybe there will be an N97 with Maemo (N98)?

Does look good!

Ooooh ... who has actually SEEN ONE in store ... ANWHERE?

Stupid stupid pc world deals, should be banned ! :)

In fairness, I have spotted a deal in my local store - some Creative USB Sound Blaster X-Fi for just £20 ... but I'm not going to post it on here, I can't imagine there'll be any anywhere else.

Well actually I had to be put through to 3 different people and they basically said they have never stocked it so I didn't bother asking further questions. May pop down to my local later on this afternoon though as it's quite a big store. Doubt I'll get anywhere though.

I went to saynoto0870.com and put the 0844 number found on the PC World website to find the Nottingham store number, puts you straight through to the store

Just called them, Out of Stock in all stores.
#12
anyone else get one??????????
#13
The N800 was posted this morning and as pointed out by lots of people who called PC World, they've never stocked them. If the deal is genuine, then maybe it was a one off store?
#14
Next thread? Nokia N820 £99 @ PCWorld instore only.

its not a one off though, is it? if you read the n800 thread they have been found in stock in several stores (including nottingham at the time)

i went down to notts on the offchance during my lunchbreak, asked a member of staff, and they said they had sold all 12 of the n800s this morning. but they had ONE N810 still in stock for 80quid.

the member of staff then went to the cupboard and got me the last 810 in THAT STORE.

but if several stores had n800s in, theres no reason they wouldnt have 810's in too...

i could post my receipt, but i can't be bothered (flickr and imageshack/etc are blocked at work) - if you dont want to believe me, fine. but dont vote cold just because you cant get it online... go to your store. ask the staff there if they have stock... i did, and i got lucky!

PC World do a great deal and all they get is flak because stock is limited - this isn't advertised by DSGi anywhere, and it's just the community on HUKD that post this.

How is this a con?

Don't you mean £99.97? :)

Someone did post this morning that him and his mates who work at PCWorld picked these up for £40 each! Needless to say no-one else managed to get one ...
#21
This is not the usual cold case file. It is an oddity whereby the cold votes are presumably from frustration at the limited PCWorld's best deals. Thanks for posting wanye.

2 in stock at the Aylesbury store... or at least, they were at 2pm when I bought the last N800 :)
#23
To be fair, I didn't believe this either but went looking anyway during my lunch break. Went to the PC World in London, Kensington High St.

They looked up the N800 on their system (item number 554720) and there were around 3 left in stock in their City and Staples Corner branches at £39.97 (They can check stock in other branches on their system).

They also had 2 x N810s left in this store on a shelf in the basement (next to their laptops) for £79.97. Don't know how long it will be before these are snapped up though.

I just purchased a netbook so although tempted did not go for them.

Having said all this, I know the frustration of looking for stuff that people claim is available in stock in these places and then not being able to find them but I also know that I have been on occassion been able to find these good deals.

Just wanted to even out the comments as if you shoot people down all the time, they just won't bother trying to bring good deals to other people's attention in future.

Good luck to whoever is looking for these.

thanks, after a few of the earlier comments, i was wondering why i bothered

incidentally, the code on the receipt is 0000822074 if thats any use

Just bought one from the Newport store. They had one left after I bought mine. To think I was going to buy one for £175 on ebay!

Excellent price. The salesman was surprised I knew about this. The boxes were marked with a price tag of nearly £150. So I think they were hoping customers wouldn't pick them up!

Yes that is the code on my receipt.

Heat and rep added. Just bought an n810 from the Basingstoke store - still one left and a couple of n800's if anyone is interested.

So its not a con, just limited stock!

I got mine from PC World at Parkgate. Hot from me, thanks very much for great post!

I'll hold my hands up and eat humble pie. I voted this cold after ringing PC world and then being told they have never stocked it. At a chance I popped into PCW on the way home and ask if they had either the N800 or N810 in stock and they told me they had 2 of the N810'S and the other 2 were reserved. The guy told me not to bother with the N800 as the N810 has such superior features and for £40 its a bargain. One's going on the bay and the other I'm going to keep and have a play with. (Bought instore Blackburn).

It will work with any phone as long as it has a working internet connection. I bought mine to use via wi-fi and its working fine on my network at home, I am going to be using it on holiday with the wi-fi in the hotel and also as a video player and MP3 player on the flights. Thanks again to the OP, its the best gadget I have bought in ages (a proper netbook )

I just walked in and said I am looking for one of those Nokia internet tablets, "oh yes we have them on special offer, follow me" so not all PC worlds staff are clueless. Gonna try the GPS tomorrow.
