lol - can't disagree with the CS issue :) '3' are very much alike! Fortunately I've not had to have much to do with them! Mostly just retentions, who are firmly based in the North East of England - lovely geordie people :)

BTW - quidco just tracked after around 10 mins.

Was going to go for the Dolphin 25 but i think you might of mis-typed the correct info..

Dolphin 25 unlimited txt 600min - £165 c/b - Is that correct?

EDIT: It should be £30 cashback

My apologies - that should have been a Dolphin 30 deal. The Dolphin 25 is 400min unlimited txt with £140 c/b on 24 months, OR £30c/b on 18 months. I'll amend te OP - thanks! It was a heck of a lot to type out! :)

A pal of mine has one on Voda - they're mint. Smaller than the N96 with pretty much the same functionality. Take away the problems with the N96 s/w, add in a FANTASTIC OLED screen, add in FM transmission to listen to MP3s on the car stereo - and you have the N85. Pretty amazing phone!

I'll be getting mine on Orange very soon, so will update you, I'm sure! :)

im really confused as to which one is best now, i have seen:

Nokia n85 on vodafone, 18 month contract

unlimited texts
unlimted mobile internet (defintely after this)
600 mins

£40 per month £210 cash back (not up front)

effective cost £28.33 per month

is there anything similar/better with orange?

Visit Beepy and take a look at their deals - some of the £40+ tarrifs come with a choice of unlimited calls, texts or data. They have the best upfront cashback too.

Hi just to let anyone know who is thinking about buying this dont! I warn you now Beepy are truly awful, I ordered a phone, next day delivery did not arrive got an email two days later after numerous emails saying it was out of stock! Customer service is not great cancelled mine but still waiting to have it refunded back onto my card I used.
Dodgy looking website if you ask me, loads of great deals but they may go bust leaving you with a expensive contract and no free gift. Search Beepy reviews it may put you off.
I hope this helps someone!

Yes, I have one on Vodafone - got it pretty much as soon as they came out, as I'd been waiting for it for a while. It's one of Nokia's best-kept secrets! No idea why everyone is promoting the N96 over and above this - it's certainly superior IMHO.

Pretty much spot on. It's not got much built in memory, but I think they all come with an 8GB MicroSD card (mine did, anyway), and they're reported to accept 16GB ones, too (I've not tried this yet, though). The N96 has an ARM9 processor, while the N85 has a faster/more powerful ARM11 processor, so nice and responsive. The screen is excellent, although the font they use on the standby screen doesn't do it any particular favours - you need to see it displaying photos or videos to see what it can actually do. Being able to display the time/date when in power save mode is a nice feature you can't do with a colour LCD screen without killing the battery.

The only down-sides are the lack of the built-in stand, and no DVB-H - but since the latter is not being broadcast in the UK, it's not really much of a loss. It's got a bigger capacity battery than the N96, although I have to admit battery life is a bit of a disappointment. I'm sure it could be stretched out to the quoted figures (which are better then the N96) if you turn off most of the features, but with a phone as feature-rich as this it's really a shame not to make the most of them, so I tolerate needing to recharge it every couple of days (and it does recharge over USB, too).

The OLED display is actually a lower power consumer than standard phone screens and for a fully featured smartphone, 2 days is good.

HUKD links to all sites via their own affiliates - and was categorically NOT part of the OP!

Seem to have a good rep with fellow hukd'ers: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/295432/beepy-co-uk-anyone-used-them/

I know a couple of people that have used them too. As with most companies, upfront cashback is FAR easier to claim than redemption - and this is a distinct advantage over others.

Yeah, I have seen more bad than good reviews of them tho! I cant beat your deal but have came close with another retailer! Dolphin 35 18m contract £34.26pm, 600m/ulim txts + £125 hassle free cashback = £491.68 over 18 months

That's still a cracking deal. This is my first order with them, so needless to say if they mess up I'll be letting people know on hukd!

I'm always willing to give companies a chance, where I have at least some positive reviews and there's a good deal on offer. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly, and I get the upfront deal in good time!

Yeah I hope it goes ok coz I have seen some good deals from them! by the way the other deal if you want to take a look is at buymobilephones. I am looking for a good deal with a ps3 preferably 12month contract

You did read the OP, yes? This is an UPFRONT cashback deal - no sending in bills, no waiting months for the next installment. Short of them going under within the next 4 weeks, my cheque is relatively safe.

And how does the phone seem? Build quality,? Battery life? Sound quality? Speed of responses? Etc.....?
#32
Had a full day with it now, and really pleased. The build quality is very good, with no 'loose' fiddly bits. The only VERY minor criticism is that the red and green keys, when lit up appear to have tiny flecks of white shining through in one or two places, as if they aren't fullycovered in red or green. VERY minor, I know!

The features are great - I've tried out the sat nav and maps with great success, very responsive. The FM transmitter is equally as good, and will come in handy on long trips. The camera is top notch and does great closeups too. Keyboard keys are ever so slightly too close together, but I think that's just me being heavy handed and moving from one phone to another.

Too early to comment on battery life, but I've been taking photos, using sat nav, internet browsing, wifi, texting, and it's still virtually full after a day. Sound quality is great, with two stereo speakers on one side of the handset.

All told, it's everything the N96 has and more, crammed into a FAR sleeker, smaller phone. Very impressed indeed, and highly likely to see out the 18 month contract with this handset - something that's NOT usual for me!
#33
Sounds good. I have been really tempted by the N85, but think I might now wait for the release of the N97, which looks awesome!
#34
I'm really not so sure about the N97. I reckon it's a glorified communicator. I really dislike the way the screen sits up, and I'm not too fussed about a qwerty keyboard. Horses for courses naturally, but the N85 truly rocks.
#35
Had the phone a month, submitted my chequeback form and it arrived within 3 days - bargain! Really pleased with the service at Beepy!
