"The Nokia N900 with Linux-based Maemo software takes us into a new era of mobile computing.
It's got a 3.5-inch resistive WVGA (800x480) screen, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, an ARM Cortex 8 processor, and 1GB of RAM, and is crammed with 32GB of internal memory with a MicroSD slot for expansion, GPS, an FM transmitter, a 5-megapixel camera, a 3.5mm jack and a gajillion-band cellular radio, including, crucially, support for 3G data."

This is the new Nokia N900, it has more things in it than I can list ppl, so if you want to know a bit more take a look at: http://maemo.nokia.com/n900/.
Place your order through quidco (10% cashback - £49.90), and use the Nokia 10% (NOK10%JAN2010VC) voucher from from amibees to get 10% off your cart. Quidco for this tracks within hours. Nokia has automatic free delivery for items over £100, so remember to use "standard" postage.

This is the lowest I've been able to find this so far, from a reputable source. If there are anymore discounts to be had let me know ;).

I thought Nokia had evolved to the far superior capacitive touchscreen as opposed to the resistive one found on this model. The resistive type is less responsive and is prone to wear over time

Yup & thats one of the main reasons why I won't be getting this phone. Good price though OP, haven't seen it cheaper!

Yeah, I know what you mean guys, but I want the option to use a fine tip stylus and a keyboard. The only capacitive phone to have a fine tip stylus at the moment is the HTC HD2. Well, still watching and hoping :D.

you can use a fine tip stylus it's supplied with one..Probally the best phone on the market :whistling:
But I am bias as Nokia gave me one for nothing, been testing it for them.:thumbsup:with the new firmware this phone rocks

I have ordered the phone, cheapest I could get it for was 449.10. There is no quidco for it, only 10% discount code. This will be a good handset because it features linux based Maemo 5 Operating system. Better than symbian anyway. Got also a HD2 is fast and really very good. No need for stylus.

Nice! great news, thanks. I ordered one and my quidco tracked been a bit unsure as I did want the fine tip stylus. That's sold it, I will be keeping it when it arrives tomorrow :D. I have to ask though, how did you manage the Nokia testing? :O.

Really? mine tracked in about 4hrs for £49.90. Have a look at -->http://www.quidco.com/nokia (@ Mods - If I'm not allowed to add the quidco nokia url, remove it - cheers).
I've heard good things about that HD2, might look into that later, after playing about with the N900 for a bit.

Well, mines didn't track. I'll cancel my order tomorrow with nokia and try reordering it. Let me know, if the device is better than other nokia's, once you have played with it.

No problem, I'll let you know , be careful with internet browser cookies and Quidco, it can be funny at times.

quidco have 20% nokia cahsback so will the new price be £349.30? cos if it is ill be buying right now
#12
om* - that's just not fair :O! It comes to £449.10 with the voucher and then you get your cashback 10/20% off the original order price of £499. I think I'll have to cancel mine and order it again. Thanks for the info! I'll try mine and if it tracks I'll edit the post.
#13

I've been trying to cancel it all day, but no joy, it got shipped at 8:10am today, now it comes down to if I want to reject the delivery wait for the money to go back and re-order. It takes about a week for my credit card to sort that kind of stuff out, that's after Nokia has finished processing. So I'll most likely end up missing it, unless a new voucher comes out tonight :x

Well, good to know it tracked. I've heard of Nokia cancelling discounted orders, not sure what they're playing at. I guess I'll live with loosing the extra, as I can't cancel mine and reorder in time.

Just ordered.

Should be 499 - 10% = 450
Then 20% cashback = -90 -> 360

I've read carefully through all the quidco and nokia info and see no exclusions that would affect this. So it really should be that price.

I've ordered. will see what quidco tracks. Hope I'm not in for a "discussion" with quidco/nokia - the legal footing around cashback is clearly lacking.

I've dilligently saved & cut/pasted every web page relating to cashback/account/order...
#30
Tracked at 59.88. That's 15% not 20%. quidco is CLEAR on the site. Do I raise issue with quidco or nokia? Do I have to wait 14 days? I was planning to wait until order confirmed

I've opened a "clan" on quidco for discussion

I have been watching this post with interest as I decided I would like to buy a N900. I noticed that Quidco have rectified the 20% tracking error so I placed my order last night (tracked within a couple of hours at 20%). Soon after I placed the order my credit card company rang to confirm I was aware of the purchase - I confirmed it was a legit purchase but they told me the order had been cancelled by Nokia! I had no notification of the cancellation until this morning - I called Nokia and they told me to get in touch with my credit card company, when I informed them I already had they asked me to check all the details I had given - these must be correct as my credit card company received notice of the transaction.

I have tried several times now to put the order through and every time I get a server error - Is this Nokia way of not having to pay out the cashback!!! Very fed up now. Anyone else had similar problem?

I had a smooth checkout process earlier this week (albeit with the tracking error), but I got a call at lunchtime the next day from my CC company. They were checking the transaction. However I asked if they'd approved it and they confirmed they had.

Didn't hear a peep from Nokia, but had dispatch confirmation, and handset out for delivery as we speak.

I'm trying very hard to leave unopened until 26th. (can be returned free)

Apparently nokia are announcing a new device then -- no idea what, but for the sake of a few days... it's going to be a tough few days! I know there'll be a faster/better maemo device in 2H10, but that probably means really available around xas/jan, nearly a year away. No sense in waiting for that, am only doing it as we're talking days.

Good to hear that you didn't have any problems. I have until the 24th to place another order so I might wait a couple of day and try again as I really want the bonus of the Quidco cashback otherwise I would probably wait a few more weeks - in which time I will change my mind several times to which model I want!

The trouble with new phones is there will always be a better model waiting in the wings
#35
Mistymouse I had the same problem, ordered phone a few weeks back using a 10% code from Nokia and went via Quidco (at the time was 10% should have waited...). All went through then got a call from my credit card company that they had declined it as flagged up and I had to redo.
I tried to reorder again and kept getting that server problem, not sure if coincidence but I clicked on the edit address on the last page of ordering, reconfirmed and after that the payment went through.
Both orders tracked in Quido, so hopefully one or both lol will validate.

I went through exactly the same number of issues - and finally received my phone today. Any credit company would flag it and reverse the transaction unless you tend to spend 400 quid in one transaction on a regular basis. Also, the Nokia website is damn slow and keep crashing or being overloaded, so be patient and try different times of the day. I had like 4-5 attempts before managed to order mine. Quidco still tracked at 15%, so raising this now. Also notice that a memory card is not included (as per description). But as I said, if you are patient enough - you'll get there. Mine took about 2 hours to order (with all the clicking and calling and 2 cancellations), but I received it 2 days after I finally placed my order. Good luck!

Thanks for your responses.

I decided to try once more using a different browser (firefox) and a new email address but same credit card and what do you know....... it went through! Quidco not tracked yet, but my original order (the one that they cancelled) is still showing as tracked. What a palaver - I really hope the phone is worth it!

I thought Nokia had evolved to the far superior capacitive touchscreen as opposed to the resistive one found on this model. The resistive type is less responsive and is prone to wear over time

Capacitive isn't far superior - both systems have their advantages and disadvantages, capacative screens offer poor precision compared to resistive screens which can work from a very small point which is very useful on the N900 which has a far more sophisticated web browser. While many people have complained at the lack of capacitive screen on the N900, I suspect most haven't haven't actually used it as it's very responsive and of those who have actually used it, few seem to complain.

I bought my N900 before Christmas, never tracked on Quidco and still trying to get it sorted out.

Nokia seem to have dropped the ball sadly. I used to be a big fan of their phones but they just seem so sluggish and dated in comparison to the iPhone and Android.
