First time posting so please go easy.

There arent that many 12 month deals around and considering that offline this phone is £499.00 alone, this is not too bad a deal as you get unlimited texts AND unlimited DATA in this package which is a must if you want to get any decent usage out of this phone because lets face it, its all about the online experience with these devices. (its called an Internet Tablet no a phone apparently).

The other thing is its not like the other deals which are from Carphonewarehouse and its derivatives and affliates which is always a plus point in my opinion from my own experience. Also read reviews that Nokia Retail are part of mobilephonesdirect.co.uk who are a lot easier to deal with regarding support, but thats what I've read, I'll tell you for sure when I use them! (I dont work for either parties and yes I am getting this deal!).

Please post if you know of any better cashbacks to these people, I couldnt find anything on Quidco for them but it would be sweet if there was more cashback offered.

I couldnt post a direct link to the deal as the page uses frames and stuff but if you click on the image then go down VIEW TARIFFS and click on the VIEW ALL PLANS and then select the Your Plan £30 + Web deal. There are others with slightly lower overall cost but I felt this was a good balance between upfront and line rental. Whichever one you go form please make sure its the one with "+ web" deal unless you dont need data and can make do with wifi.

Cold voters please post a better deal (so I can cancel this one and go for that one!) There are other deals posted here from mobiles.co.uk which is part of CPW but I couldnt see the deals through quidco so it could have expired. Not going to write about the phone specs, if you dont know what it is by now, its likely you wouldnt be interested :)

If you find the £149.99 too high for upfront theres a £40 a month and £83.99 deal with the same specs if it helps.

Bear in mind that Vodaphone's idea of 'unlimited' data is 500MB per month.

really??? thats pants! I was getting 1Gb for £3 from 3 on my last contract.. I'll have to look into how much the extra is.. in that case it might be prudent to go with the non data deal and pay for the data on top.

Thanks for the heads up cowbutt :)

I wouldn't expect that pay per use data on vodafone is very cheap!! Am with them, on the 500m deal, and there data charges, outside of this, were horrendous = may still be.

not voting either way atm, it's sparked my interest, just unsure whether vodafone direct would offer something comparable.

Just remember: This isn't a phone, it's a mobile computer running Linux with a phone tacked on. It's still a little rough around the edges but Nokia (and the maemo community) are patching those bits up.

In that vein, this might not be the phone for you. Don't just look at all the shiny features (of which there are quite a few) and buy one, go out and have a play.

And it's worth noting that Nokia occasionally have 10% off deals that make the SIM-free route worth it.

I bought my N900 on preorder with two 10% off vouchers (paid around £370 inc delivery) and because I'm a long term customer my (SIM only) O2 contract this year was something stupid like £8 a month after discounts and up-front cashback including 3gigs, 1000 minutes, 1000 texts, etc.

In short: shop around, haggle with your current network and dare to look at the dreaded SIM-free option. You might save yourself a small fortune.

No more deals anywhere.. in fact the carphone warehouse contracts are even dearer!
