I thought it was now impossible to get both these now on account of you having to get 3 to email your friend a link to the relevant recommend a friend page? Any ideas if this can be circumvented (ooerr, big word, I'm just hoping it means what I think it does. :-D )

I was not aware of this, how do you take advantage of this?

deal can be cancelled @ any time but you have to pay a penalty for breaching the contract. Usually this is the remaining line rental for the whole contract term. :)

Is this really so? I'm considering getting this deal, but only a days battery life is terrible. Would that only apply if you leave it on all night too?

I went down to the 3 shop at the weekend to try the phone and it's great, but will of course order online for the quidco etc. Don't tell them this in the store as the staff suddenly lose interest in you, lol.
#14
I think if your only using it as a phone it last for days its when you start using the camera, gps and mp3 it drains the battery much like any other phone. This is best deal ive came across so far my contract with 02 is not up until next month so i will hold off till then.

After a quick Google I don't think that is true.

Must admit, that is news to me, and i often spend time lurking on the 3g forum and i've not read about that there.
I have had a long running arguement with 3 about contract end date and believe me, they want you to pay even if you cancel a month early, let alone 9 but i am open to hearing what you've heard :-D

Agreed, I also found the applications on the handset were very slow and the camera was next to useless with it taking five minutes to open then five minutes to take a shot then five minutess to process it and as for the GPS, well i hope anyone planning on using this never gets lost...

And then there is the dreadfull rattling of the slider and the replacement handsets.

Sold mine on ebay for 325.00 and went back to using my Nokia 6111....

So to anyone thinking of getting this phone maybe try google for "n95 slider" and "n95 battery" before taking the plunge, 18 months is a long time to be saddled with this phone

I got my hopes up then. I'm not giving them the remaining 6 months of my contract just so I can end it early! If I'm going to pay them then I better be getting all of the free texts/calls!

on my second now, love the phone, hate the battery,,, about 4 mates have the same phone all have the same issue... i dont play mp3's and take photos i work and use the phone 4-6 times a day... 3-4 mins a time..

i guess if you dont use it at all and leave it on the side it might last longer than a day!?!?

You can buy an extended battery for these if memory serves have the 3 network disabled VOIP on this?
#23
These break so easily!!!

Had 3 in 4 months!

The mic and earpiece go crackly and the screens are very weak!

While its working though, its an incredible phone! the video/photo quality is fantastic!

Just have a backup phone for all the time your phone will be in for repair!

The N95s are getting much cheaper on eBay now. My wife bought a brand new N95 with a 2gb card for £270 delivered.

Might be another option for people who don't want a contract, or for people on cashback deals like my wife and myself.
#25
i would stay clear of thsi phone. its top nothc on paper, but its failed to deliver. Battery life is poor, some people dont even get a day out of it. Software failures are common, Most retailers will advise you to stay clear.
The samsung U600 is about the best you can get at the moment, but the G600 is out in a couple of weeks, same phone but with a 5 megapixel camera.
The Sony Ericson k850i is also out soon with a 5 mp camera.

All these battery horror stories are nonsense as far as i'm concerned, I charged the phone yesterday, took it off charge approx 7:15am, since then i've took some pictures, text and rang people, added ringtones, played some games, listened to some music, watched a few videos and generally messed about with my new toy, yet shock horror i've still got the full 7 bars battery. Thats over 24 hours with what i'd call moderate use. And unless it goes from 7 bars to 2 instantly it's safe to say the battery is holding up well. Maybe if people turned off WLAN scanning and changed from Dual Band to GSM they would experience much better battery life also.
#27
battery life on mine is poor but I've heard the latest firmware improves things.

Must be the case, still on 7 bars!

I looked at getting this phone, the best contract price I could find was free with O2 and £35 a month for 18mths, although I could change to their cheapest tariff after 9mths. I haggled for the 'phone free' part in the shop.

I've read that most providers stop the VOIP part of the phone, apart from O2.

Also, I wanted this phone for the GPS, but it is quite a poor chip inside, and anyone who wants to use satnav ends up getting a bluetooth gps add on.

I concluded it wasn't worth having a contract for me, as I don't make enough calls, so looked at ebay. But paying over £250-280 for a phone that is liable to break is quite steep, so ended up getting a N73 (which will run Tom Tom 6 which I wanted).

Oh, and my m8 can't get the wireless network working at all. I've tried, and it doesn't seem to work (even though I used to set up networks for a living). There maybe a software update for the phone though.

Out of interest - if you don't use the MP3 player or Camera, why did you get this phone? I'm thinking of upgrading, but not sure what features I need.

i dont mean i never use them, just not day2day use.. ie work and home...

i use them when on holiday or weekending in the hamptons.... ;-)
#31
On the Threeshop website it states if you take out the £28 Talker contract you will receive credit back after 60 days, how much credit back are they offering?
#32
None, it's some standard offer text linked to the price plan. There's a couple of phones it applies to but it's the cheaper ones.

Dont feed the trolls.

I was thinking of getting N95 on 3 but I fugure it's not worth it.

So N80 for around £100 on Ebay.

Get a 18 months free line rental from Phones4u and pay £5 month add on for internet and I have all I need!!
#35
Does anyone know if Three have disabled the voip feature on this like Orange and Vodafone have?

Also would it possible to use Truphone on the 3 network?
#36
Ordered this using every offer available, arrived today :) Quidco is currently tracking, bluetooth headset arrived (basic but will probably do the job), free 512MB card which is useful for storing downloaded map data (UK is about 120MB), and managed to get a work collegues number for the referral thing! :)

It's a great phone, my only issue is with the camera but appears to be a known issue with latest firmware in that lines appear over the image in low light conditions. I doubt there's anything that 3 could do if I returned it if it's already running the latest version so will probably have to live with it.
#37
Just to let you know, I have this phone I have everything turned off e.g blue/t gps 3g connection etc. If i charge it over night and use it for around 15 mins worth of calls iam lucky if it last's until 3pm during that day. make sure you take your charger to work!

The online 30 contract is £30 a month with free phone for 18months... Hubby just ordered it and went through quidco for £35 cash back... He was due for an upgrade but the useless call center people kept saying they couldn;t do it for less than £35 a month... even though it's on the website for £30...

Not sure if 3 is the same, but with my vodafone 18 month contract, I can upgrade the phone after 12 months.

I've heard from the register that Nokia are bringing out a new firmware for the N95 which will improve the gps a lot http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/07/19/nokia_launches_a-gps_service/
