Maybe a bit specific, but for anyone who took out a £15 for 500 minutes a year and a bit ago are now eligible for a free upgrade at 15 months.

I took this contract out in March 2007, and have just rang them up to see about upgrading.

They offered me a brand new (not a refurb!) Nokia N95 8GB Black on a new 18 month contract for £15 a month.

I'm sure this cannot be beaten.

Available by ringing 333 and talking to upgrades.

Good luck.

Hey adambaz, coincidentally I spoke to 3 customer services during my lunch break (well before your post) to upgrade and all they offered me was the N95 8gb for £30/mth over 18 months. They said it was the best they could do so I've asked for my PAC and am seriously considering leaving. Now I hear of deals such as yours and I'm so livid I'm gonna call them up and let rip :x

Before I get myself too worked up tho, are you sure its not the older N95 with an 8gb card that you've been offered? BTW, great deal for me mate - just wish they would offer me a similar deal. How did you sweet talk them into it? ;-)
#2
I am on the £15 for 500 minutes but no texts.

I've had it for the last 15 months or so.

It's definately the Nokia N95 8GB Black (I made sure of that!!)

I didn't have to sweet talk at all! Rang them up yesterday to ask what the best they could do, and they said that I'd have to phone back in 9 days (making it 90 days before my contract was up)

I rang back this morning instead (impatient, I know) and they were happy to offer me more or less any phone I wanted. The N95 was the best of the bunch. I asked for Mix and Match 1100 for £20 ([instead of £27] which they somethimes offer). They said that I could take that, but if I did, there would be an extra £15 per month charge -as you can see on the Three site.

I actually didn't even accept it on the spot then, and rang back about an hour ago, and was offered the same thing again (and there weren't any notes relating to my query, because the agent was talking to me like it was the first time I had enquired.

I tried to push for free data or some texts, but the bloke said that I wouldn't be able to find the N95 black on another carrier for less than about £35 p/m. So paying £15 and getting one was a bargin - I agreed.

What contract are you on atm?
#3
Lovely as it is I think I want to see what offers are available on the new iPhone before I sign an 18 month contract right now.
#4
I think you'd be best to give them a call back and make sure that you don't have the £15 Video Pack on top of that as well. The N95 8GB on a Mix and Match tariff should have that as a mandatory add-on, the advisor has maybe forgotten to mention it, but you're better to check that your total cost is £15, not just the tariff.

Let me know how you get on though.

I'm on the Direct Talker 1000 which gives 750mins 150tx. Normally £35 but on half price so £17.50pm. I might just call them back and see if they'll change their minds. Got got a text from 3 with my PAC!

I've been on their £15 texter (600 txt 75 mins) since April last year.

Is it possible for me to get it? :S

That's what I thought, but it's definately not there. Just the same as before, I confirmed it about 20 times before agreeing.

The thing is, my contract shows on my bill as £25, and then a £10 discount is applied every month.

That's just how it works. I wonder if it shows as a £25 tariff, and therefore eligible in their books.

Great for anyone on the same tariff as me (or the text version that was out at the same time [600 texts + 75 mins])

Yes!

It should be.

You may have to wait until you are within 90 days of contract expiry for an upgrade though.
#10
It's a damn sight better deal than what T Mobile are offering (both T-Mobile and anyone punting their contract). I'm paying 35 quid per month (35 flex) and they still wanted between 50 and 80 quid for the phone.

Guys, I would have a read here if I were you.
http://www.3g.co.uk/3GForum/showthread.php?t=73126

Requesting a PAC from 3 does not normally force them into giving you a good deal, you normally have to cancel your contract on 30 days notice and within the last 7 days you normally get a call from the retentions (or some other name) department offering you some of the deals mentioned in the above thread.

If the original poster was offered such a deal, then you should have either recorded the call or got the deal in writing as 3 have been known to deny offering such deals.

For the record I'm with 3 (and very happy with coverage and services), but will be cancelling soon as the upgrade deals were not as good as the deal I'm on at the moment and hope that the seven day retention team call me up with a better offer.

I have just tried this and she would not budge - just kept saying if I wanted the nokia n95 8gb it would have to be an at least a £25 per month contract - am i ringing the right people? im on £15 per month taken out in March last year on the 600 text 75 min
#13
I am also on the £17.50 direct talk contract and was offered last night Mix and Match 300 at £25 on the N95 8GB OR £18 for N95 non 8GB. Would be very interested to hear any more about £15. Saying that have just seen the New Iphone and although £35 a month I am extremely tempted with the changes they have made.

N95 VS Iphone ??

Phone again and speak to someone else.

Technically you ARE on a £25 a month contract - you just get a £10 discount a month.

Check your bills, this is what it shows as.

As I say, ring back, and speak to someone else.

I'd spoken to 3 different people, who all offered me the deal.

Just got off the phone to 3 and the best N95 8gb deal they could offer me was 300mins 150tx £5 free downloads for £25pm or 500 mins for £25 both on 18 mth contracts. I said no thanks and will take my PAC and find a cashback deal elsewhere. I know its a gamble going for a cashback deal but the risk should be minimal if I go with a reputable company such as e2save or OSPS (or so I think...).
Just fed up of being lied to by 3 and given incorrect information. They used to have good deals but I think its time to see if the grass is greener on the other side :)
#16
I got the silver N95 for £15p/m from O2, they wanted £20 for the black one and I wasn't playing ball. For £5 per month a £20 MicroSD card works out a better deal.
#17
i just rang up to ask about when i can upgrade and they offered me a deal that wasnt as good as what i was looking at on the internet!!!!

I'd be careful and ask for confirmation but it seems like a good deal. N95 8gb for less than £20pm is a good deal in my book.

Sounds like a good deal, make sure it's not a refurb.

An extra £3 for another 150 texts and double the minutes. Plus 50 video calls and texts, and MMS and £5 downloads?

Grab it before they change their minds!!!

The only reason I suggest you call back, is that I'm a member of staff within 3, and there is no such offer. It's Mix & Match 500 you're on, which has the mandatory £15 Video Pack, the only people who can override this are the senior complaint handling team, not the retentions guys.

I'm certainly not saying you've been misled, it's likely to be a genuine error.

To answer some of the other queries, 3 provide upgrade offers in various value tiers, if you're in the highest value band of customer, to get an N95 8GB on the Mix and Match tariffs, you have to pay a one off fee of £270 if you don't want to pay the additional £15 per month.

If anyone has this offer and it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Make sure you ask about the Video Pack Add-On!

Caveat Emptor - Buyer Beware!

Don't forget, the new iphone 2 is coming out on july 11 withnew features like GPS, homebrew support and other cool stuff.
Prices as follows:
8GB -------- $199 (£100)
16GB--------$299 (£150)

Steve Jobs has said that he will try to make these prices fixed - worldwide.
The launch is worldwide too! meaning we get it on the same day as the yanks!

You probably will be able to unlock them too - after it is hacked - so no contract from O2!

I'm not on mix and match 500.

I'm on Video Talk 500.

They said to me "If you change onto a Mix and match, you'll be liable for a £15pm charge", so they advised me to stick with what I've got.

My contract runs out in september and im after an upgrade, the earliest date i could do this is thurs 12th so he is ringing me then, im after an n95 8gb for £15 or w910i for less so will update with how i get on !!

I'd think twice about One stop phone shop... They've cost me a lot in the past as well as welching on the cashbacks! :x

As for the lies you get from 3, I think most are the same. Voda can be real pains in the Rolf or maybe I just get unlucky when I ring them... EVERY ruddy time!

In that case the one off cost is £300, again, no option for free of charge phone, even to high value customers. VT500 doesn't have the Video Pack option and max discount on handset cost is £50, so at best you've got a scary invoice of £250 on it's way next month.

Rather not say but it's a regulatory role in Head Office, my username would get me recognised and i shouldn't really be advertising any of the company process' or procedures. MSE is generally a good guide as to what's available but it will still vary based on an individuals value score (for retentions, not new sales).

That cannot be the BEST scenario surely.

I should be laughing shouldn't I?

They cannot add any more to the monthly contract, if they've not said anything about additional charges (apart from a £1.99 delivery charge) then they'll have to take the hit.

I imagine all calls are recorded?

Only around 5% of calls are recorded at the moment, but systems are being brought in to record 100% of calls in the very near future. If you do have any issues then escalate through Customer Services or pm me your number and i'll get someone to give you a call.

I've just rang up again to clarify it again (about the 4th time now)

Definately nothing to pay on top - free upgrade.

Keeping the £25 Video Talk 500, with the £10 lifetime loyalty discount - as before.

great phone if you can get one at that price.

just got one myself as an upgrade to my vodafone contract.

"That's what I thought, but it's definately not there. Just the same as before, I confirmed it about 20 times before agreeing.

"N95 8GB Black paying the same as you are now, £15 a month" "

Personally I'd send them a letter recorded confirming the terms and conditions offered.

I agreed to a contract upgrade in April last year and basically the person lied about everything.

They said that I'd have certain conditions and that it was only a 10month contract. I had a dispute about something else and I have clearly put it in writing to them repeatedly that I've been told I'm only on a 10month contract and could therefore give notice after 9months. I've also had it confirmed on the phone by multiple people.

You can see where this is going. Basically they've turned around and said I'm not. I've sent letters back and forth showing that I've mentioned it repeatedly and had it told to me, but their view is that they never actually confirmed this to me in writing.

It's not 3's policy to send out contracts on upgrades. During the dispute they did decide to send me a contract in April 2008 (more than 12months since I originally agreed)!!!!!.

Basically I'm in dispute with 3 and with Otelo the ombudsman at the moment but it's costing me loads in time and effort. Would be easier to pay the £50 but it's a matter of principle.

I agreed a contract recently with Vodafone and put the terms and conditions in writing so that it can't be dispute. It's worth the £1 odd and effort writing a letter to make sure you don't get scammed by them as it's a nightmare proving otherwise.

They've even got debt collection agencies after me.

around 8 months ago i was paying £30 a month on two contracts but getting it all back on cashback from mobileconnections (those guys from Birmingham may know of them, closed down and scammed a lot of people!),

anyway told three wanted to cancel, lo and behold 7 days before the end was nigh, get a call from india somewhere offering the same contract at only £5 a month for life with a £25 credit, im gonna try and do something of the sort with another contract i have got with three.
