Please be aware there are lots of Firmware issues with the N96, i would wait atleast a few month till Nokia release a new version of there software.

can't find the N96 on 3's website :? is there a direct link, cheers

Is this a good deal?

I'm not voting either way but if the phone goes wrong, you have to ring 3 customer services. This will probably take at least 30 minutes just to get it swapped over.

Poor customer services from 3 and quidco never tracks.

I wouldn't touch them. :p

I have had 5 contracts on three for various family members and they have all been tracked and fully paid up.

Please note to keep a note of your web order reference number at the end of the order, this is needed if there is problem with quidco.

I initally thought that it was hot, however I have just had a look at the phones4u website and they have it for £35 a month.... however you get 600 minutes and unlimited texts (Capped at 3000)... seems a lot better for a fiver more.

Except it isn't a £5 more - it's 18x £5... £90

Depends how much you call I suppose - neat gadget :)

It only takes 30minutes if you speak Hindi, if you speak english, you need to know what page of the script the agent you speak to is on.

I have been with three before and by far the worst customer services in the world. PERIOD!

Exactly..... up to a couple of years ago I would have said that 3000 is just ridicules,.... However I have a teenage daughter and know that 150/200 a days is easily achieved.

3 you get 150 texts if you use the rest on minutes, if you use 2850 at 0.12p per text that's an extra. £300 plus a month.

This deal is for those who want the N96 at the cheapeast price on contract, if you are a heavy user then this deal is not for you.

how can there be firmware issues if it hasnt been released yet.

lol couldnt quite put my finger on that one well spotted!

Im not sure if this is a good deal or not, as discussed previously, 3 are pants, full stop.

But the N96 on nokias website is £530 (i know hardly anyone would buy it for that price) where as 18 months of this deal works out at £540

Unless anyone is actually going to use the 150 video mins that three keep on forcing upon people, this would basically be a 300 mix-n-match deal.

At £540, I'm not convinced this is worth it. I would rather buy on from ebay for £300 (soon enough price will settle at £300) and get the contract seperate.

Just have to wait and see if O2 CPW can beat this deal.

re firmware you can always download the latest version from Nokia..

As it has been out in China/Japan etc for a month or 2 now, and is available in the UK, Nokia are aware of the issues but like always it takes along time to release a update.

N95 8gb Is Better!

hows that?

Yeah the N95 8gb has 8gb and the N96 has, erm 16...

same camera

same gps

except this has got geotagging and a tv (admittedly which doesnt work),

The Nokia N96 has the same dual slide design as the N95. It’s a very similar phone with the same 5 megapixel camera, 2.8 inch screen, HSDPA, Wi-Fi and excellent multimedia functions. It has 3G, HSPDA and GPS with Nokia Maps and Geo-tagging. It has the Nokia web browser with Mini Map and an RSS reader. The N96 is slightly longer and wider than the N95 8GB but is 3mm thinner, so pretty much the same size.

The name suggests that the N96 might be a successor to the N95 8GB, but in reality it’s more of an alternative specification. The Nokia N96 has 16GB internal memory which can be expanded to a huge 24GB using an 8GB memory card. This is the N96’s main advantage over the N95 8GB and the biggest reason why people might choose the N96. Other minor improvements include a newer version of the Symbian S60 OS, v9.3 as opposed to v9.2 and the addition of RDS to the built-in FM radio. The N96 also has a DVB-H TV receiver but this is of no use in the UK as we don’t have any DVB-H TV broadcasts.

On the downside, the N96 battery offers only 3 hours 40 minutes talk time between charges, whereas the N95 8GB has 6 hours talk time. The dual ARM processor on the N96 is not as powerful as the N95 8GB and it lacks a 3D graphics accelerator, although most users won’t notice any difference. The N96 also loses a few insignificant features such as infrared, nothing worth losing sleep over.

So which is the best phone? The N96 has that huge memory, which is definitely an advantage in a multimedia phone. In terms of design the N96 is more modern, it looks similar to other new Nseries phones. But the N95 8GB looks meaner and more exclusive, in fact it probably looks the more expensive of the two. Which leads me on to the price, you’ll pay around £200 more for the new Nokia N96. Compare deals on both phones and decide for yourself.

And you use 10 hours minutes & 3000 txts per month?

Example: Practically every i-phone user!

Struggling to think of any other justification for buying one..except of course for the huge amount of money Mr Jobs has poured into marketing his old bit of kit.

if the 300 minute tarriff is £15 a month and this deal is £30 a month then how can the phone be free?

This is a £500+ phone - in reality no one is going to give it you free without signing up to something.

When new phones come out, you usually have to pay as well as signing up for a contract.
