Just popped into my local store, have the nook on offer. The lowest I've seen for a new HD+

I know there are cheaper refurbished available but these are new units.

May be of interest to somebody. Possibly nationwide and online as the tech assistant said they were clearing all remaining stock.

Great screen. Replace the nook Android with cyanogenmod Android and you have a great 9 inch table for £99

Looking to do that on the kids ones. It's a great tab, if you could just move apps to the sd card like on normal android there'd be no need to go to cyanogen

Try the one beside Ikea (dunno what you call it) we always seem to get the offers in there when no other Sainsbury's has them. When the whole Nook ereaders where going for £29, reports on here that none where left in any retailers in UK, we had been in Ikea popped into Sainsbury's there to check and they had 10+ in stock. Last time the Nook HD was going for £69 towards Christmas again most out of stock but that store had plenty. Sorry but it's not close by me to check for you and I wouldn't trust ringing them.

Might be wrong, but I thought Nook stopped making these, hence why there were loads and loads of deals on them last summer...
If so, how are there still new units "out there" ??
Heat added :)

Cyanogenmod 11 (kitkat 4.4.4) is running stable. No more nightlies.

Easy to get cyanogenmod on nook HD +. Games run well. Screen is the best at price point. 9 inch as well. Battery life is good. But no cameras. Speaker is good too.

Thankyou but I've already been they've sold out and their show model is a dummy.

I would agree to disagree with the reviewer....

For me, the build quality is great - feels very solid and sturdy, almost like its a unibody, and very ergonomic, its also comparatively light compared to similar size tabs, the hole in the corner works for me - I hold it with the knuckle of my left thumb resting in it for extra purcahse.

To some extent I agree about the custom power cable - but the supplied 2A USB charger is decent quality, and in reality you only have to carry the charger and a usb cable for your devices, i could mention iDevices as a similar example...

Ive had mine for about 18 months, cyanogen, very decent

These are great and the screen is hard to beat, but I had 2 units due to regular crashes (1st one) and WiFi issues (2nd one). By the time I took it back last month, my only option was a refund. Apparently Barnes and Noble won't repair them any more! I never got round to installing the mod rom and can report that the nook os is demanding of lots of patience at times, though it works well when most of the time. I got lucky in the end as John Lewis
#22
... offered a refund instantly and the same day I found a Sony Xperia Z for £149 (last one in stock!). To sum up I'd say go for it but keep that receipt safe. Other than the issues I had, I found the WiFi to be quite slow, though this was always a known issue.

If you have a bit of money and limited technical knowhow/patience, androidfornook.com will sell you a cheap little card that you just pop in the slot and boot from that. I have one. It works well and dean from that site gave me an update to a later android version free about 12 months later.

#28

I have a Nook HD and my wife has an Nook HD Plus (7 and 9 inch). Question, if I ordered and paid for the download to put onto a micro card, would I be able to use the card in both tablets?

I'd say no as both devices use files (one hummingbird the other ovation)
It really isn't hard to do for free if you follow the step by step instructions.
Then you also get the choice of it being a permanent mod on the tablets memory, or just a dual-boot option with the microSD card.

I bought one of these for the wife, it took me around half an hour to install Cyanogen.
I was so impressed I bought myself one, I had this one modded in five minutes.

hi which mod did u use , i was looking at the nook2android and that looks like its all on the sd card is that best ? never done android and the jailbreak on iphone is simple ? just looking at best option and easiest cheers

Thanks to OP got the last one from Sainsbury Farlington. CM11 beckons. It has a great screen at first use.
#36
I bought one a while back, paid £170 and I installed CM on it for my folks.

It's an awesome tablet, great for Web, screen fantastic, video, and value for money.

Glad some folks have managed to bag some sock remaining. £99 squid is great and B&N have some beautiful quality add ons at good prices. May also be with scouting Sainsbury's for accessories too!
#37
Installing CM is easy, go to Google xda developers and nook HD + I found it to be easily done!
#38
Got the 10" screen version. Works generally fine for me, occasional software issue where it re-boots which having looked on Google seems to be common, but to be honest its not that often. Plus got from John Lewis 3 year warranty still have over 12 months left on that. Mine is 10" 32GB version think I paid £150 almost 2 years ago (I think).

No camera but I just wanted it for web browsing, sky go, games, emails etc.
