This is a fantasic deal! It seems that everyone is getting shot of their Nook stock at the moment. Whether it be ebay, morgan computers, etc. There has been some awesome deals recently, but for a brand new one with 12 months warranty this is a steal. Bought one recently which was second hand and cost more than this.

This tablet is a really decent piece of kit. If rooted and a custom rom is installed it is even better. But I must point out not necessary - it still functions brilliantly with stock operating system.

Get them while you can.

Don't forget that Nook are getting shot of their accessories at £5 each. Really nice cases and worth getting a spare charger. http://www.nook.com/gb/store/accessories

Expand the memory with micro SD card slot up to 64Gb

should read 'get them if you can' I've not been able to find any, been after a cheap but decent android tablet to use with her furby, at this price I thought would be perfect, but no stock! hardly surprising I guess. good hunting!

Good tablet ,i bought 2 for the kids at xmas and despite being slightly mistreated they are still running fine and have a better looking screen than my nexus 7 .only bad thing is that the os is slightly laggy and they don't seem to be getting updated os ,but great to read on or for kids

Had 2 in Macclesfield this afternoon. I was tempted to get them and shove them on ebay but resisted :D

the specs in the photo and description seem to be for 2 very different products, which one are you showing the deal for?

I did see that and just assume Sainsburys are dorks, It is very much for the Nook 7" HD tablet. I had to lift it off it's security stand to get the pic.

Agreed, looks like it's not the HD version, and therefore not a great deal.

It is the HD. Will nip back tomorrow if I get time. There is no other Nook that is 7" or 8Gb than the HD.

Description says 1Gb RAM but the Sainsbury's pic states 512Mb.

Which is it?

As it happens, the 8GB Nook Tablet (not HD) had 512MB ram:

Also HD model has Android 4.04, this one has 2.3.

Really looks like the non-HD model.

I can confirm that this is the HD model as I bought one a couple of days ago for this price from Sainsbury's. The actual model number is BNTV400

only the HD models have been available since 2012. the nook tablet was discontinued long ago and as far as I'm aware never sold by sainsburys! Anyway I can confirm that the deal is for the 7" nook HD. the HD+ is also on offer but I forget at what price.

It'll be the HD, if you can find one snap it up - good tablet and a no brainer at this price. That said my local sainsbury's stopeed selling Nook tablets over 6months ago.

Wish there was an easy way to check stock in local stores. Otherwise a good price if you can find one.

Title needs changed asap. Completely wrong title and completely wrong specs. Embarrassing when you actually upload a picture clearly contradicting your title. See elkays comment.

I went to my local and it was the tablet in the picture above, not the HD version.

Ok - nipped back to get these pics to show the tab - which is a HD. I spoke to the bloke on the electronics desk and he said it was definitely for the HD - the specs on the stand were for an older tablet. The two that were left were sold this morning.

We rang our local store and they told us where there was stock, worth a try if you don't want a wasted journey.

Guide to install Android 4.2.2:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317500

Make sure you download the files for the HD model (codename HummingBird) and not the HD+ model (codename Ovation).

They are also working on Android KitKat but it still has a few issues at the moment. 4.2.2 (CM 10.1) is very stable and provides a more enjoyable experience than the stock ROM.

Found two today. As above, can confirm that it is the HD" version.
If you are contacting the stores, be sure to say it's on clearance as it is not on the pricing system. It comes up "not found" if they scan, but it is on the stock system. There's a tick box that makes the difference when they search, one includes everything, even stuff which is no longer on the pricing system.

Hope that is useful info for someone.

ETA - Forgot to say, there was stock showing in Chippenham today.

My local store located me one not too far away from me but its been out on display and then put back in the stock room after its time had expired. The girl said the packaging is a bit grubby but its not too bad so i'm hoping to pick it up in the morning. She did comment on the price and say that its very cheap and did I still want it being ex display, I have a feeling there is a few members of staff who wished they had seen it first.

512mb ram is not enough for a tablet and no hdmi - you can get Onda quad core 8 inch tablets with all the gizmos - hdmi , sdcard slot, micro usb, 1gb ram 16gb storage for £42 so why buy this yesteryear turd-bargain is beyond me.

So many gullible non tech savvy punters out there.

I have had one of these for many months. It is a great tablet with superb screen. The only snag is poor volume speakers, but a cheapo external speaker will improve the sound.

At this price, it is an absolute steal!

I often see comments like this one by the OP: "This tablet is a really decent piece of kit. If rooted and a custom rom is installed it is even better."

Please can someone explain this "rooting" and "custom rom" to a dumb-dumb like me? Please use words of one syllable! :D

If you want a first class tablet at a ridiculously low price, don't hesitate.
