Nook Simple Touch £29.99 @ Sainsbury's stores,

It looks like the Nook Simple Touch is being discontinued in Sainsbury's stores, currently £29.99 in the Staffordshire area.

I'm not sure if this will be national but it's certainly a steal at this price.

A couple of links to extend the abilities of the Nook:

*EDIT* I didn't expect this deal to get so hot. Thanks for the heat!

There will still be some stores with stock, call ahead before making a journey to save yourself the petrol :)

These are just for reading books. It doesn't strain you eyes like reading from a computer or tablet screen. If like reading books I'd recommend one

If you after a tablet I would recommend getting a tablet I believe you can root these and use android on them but I can't see it being anywhere as near as good as a tablet for surfing the net, playing game etc just better for reading.

Just reading books. It's not like a tablet at all. Much easier to read from than a tablet and battery life is exceptional though.

Not sure about this model but most ereaders have a very very basic browser. Completely unusable for normal browsing but fine for downloading a book occasionally.

Don't see you sharing this deal on here??

They can be turned into tablets - I've seen them in use in warehouses for picking lists etc.

Toolstation use them like as well.
#20
I'm using an original kindle (v3) - any reason to consider the nook over that?
#21
If you can find one considering low stock it's cheaper in Argos:

Thank you so much, hubby had a kindle but it got ruined when was away with work ( very dusty sandy place called Afghanistan) so decided he would try this instead. Was going to buy him this for Father's Day so really happy, Thank you for posting.
#23
Thanks OP, just bought one for travelling.

OOS Online, and no stock near me.
#25

Out of stock in the 10 nearest stores from where I live. But happy I have ordered at sainsburys, fab price.
#26
Got 2, thanks!
#27
Yeah 99p difference isn't exactly much but it's still an indicator that this is around about the going rate.

I've reserved one for pickup at Argos but if I couldn't have done I might have ended up getting it from Sainsburys.
#28
Ok newbie question can you use Kindle books on it, I'm guessing no and if not where do you get the books?
#29
Online ordering is working :)

£29.00 at Argos click and collect in stock 99p cheaper.
#32
good deal even better with staff discount. Remember the 10p off petrol is still on so if you get it instore and spend £60 you can get cheaper petrol too!

You can root it and then install Kindle apps from Goodle Play.

Rooting is fantastic and it becomes an Android Tablet. And it becomes phenomenal after rooting.

#35
It looks like they everywhere is £29,
For example, Currys
#36
BTW, awesome deal OP.

Anybody knows why shops are shedding Nook stock? What's wrong with them?
#37
Just got one online. Bargain for the price!
#38
Do you need a light for reading in the dark?
#39
It does seem cheaper in Currys, they are in stock.

Currys/PCworld have this in stock at £29 in every store within a 20 mile radius of me (9 stores).

Probably not going to collect my Argos reservation now, this is the standard price. Not a hot deal.
