I would not trust Currys stock management out of office hours.
They very often show stock when there isn't any.

My Nook order with them from a week ago still has not shipped ( and it said available on May 9th when i ordered, so it should have shipped yesterday) !
They will have hundreds ( if not thousands) of backorders placed over the past week to ship, before they get to new orders.

I know they are the same company but here is the pcworld link

Look for (free) Calibre software. This will convert most formats to any other format.

It's very easy and perfectly legitimate to convert books. I'd suggest calibre (just use Google), it's an excellent solution
#12
Agree. Calibre works a treat

I haven't bothered to convert books for this. Instead I have Android running on it and am using the Kindle app. It makes a really good e-reader supporting multiple formats. It also doubles as a mono web browser when I want that as well. Top device for the money IMHO.
#14
Cool Reader also supports multiple formats.

To get the best out of the Nook you will want to root it.
Having already rooted a NST here is a quick 'how to' in two easy steps!
First things first, you need to charge your Nook to at least 40% - it will take about 1.5hrs from first charge
Second, register your Nook
Third, this is for firmware 1.2 (most likely the one you will receive)

Step 1 - Install NookManager

NookManager
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2040351

Step 2

Install Google Apps Installer (Google Market)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086582

Some apps I have installed that are e-ink friendly
CoolReader
FBReader
WikiDroid
Opera Mini
ColorDict

A good tip is to remap the Nook buttons which can be done via Nook Manager / Nook Touch Mod Manager
Another tip is to install NoFresh which switches off the 'screen refresh' works great with CoolReader

More can be done to optimise the Nook but it gets more technical - this should keep you busy for a while (_;)

Install Opera Mini. Much better than the stock browser. Also install the searchmarket app so you can search the market for apps (who'd have thought that). If you intend to update the firmware to 1.21, make sure you get it from the Barnes and Noble UK site as the one from the US site does not work.
