this is an amazing TV some people don't realise it

it's 1080p will post a link to a picture proving this asap, i was surprised, i alos hooked it up to my msi wind laptop via VGA and resolutions went up to 1920 x 1080

look on their website, samsung panel inside ! picture quality is sharp and top notch

some people were complaining about the popping sound when they switch resolutions or sources, that is not coming from the panel as soem said ...it's coming from the speakers

i am very happy with my purchase and 32" samsung panel for £250 paying in 3 installments i think it's awesome

Says its only 720p on the website.
Do you have a pic of your PC running it at 1920 x 1080?

- Sorry, just read your description properly! Will await photo!

It can take an imput of 1920 x 1080 but can only display to 1366 x 720.

So what does it do to the image? Shrink it?
#5
It only scales the image. I must admit its a nice feature, not all tv's allow you to put in higher resolution inputs in. But my Panasonic can and it is 3 years old + now.

All it means is that you can feed it a source at full resolution, to your liking, then it will decide how best to scale it to the TV's native resolution.

So basically the TV isn't 1080p at all. It just has the ability to accept 1080p as an input and scales it down to 720p... ... ... interesting... lol

Got one from CDiscount. More problems with it than you can shake a stick out. Everything from image, sount all teh way to build is sub-standard. Don't waste your money and time. Voted cold

sorry to take your buzz away but i think you just had a faulty TV...get a proper one and we'll talk then

build quality is amazing, all the inputs and outputs you can think of, samsung panel that diaplays great colours, big and bright, can't keep the contrast more than 70 and brightness 50, my eyert hurt....get a good quality signal through and then compare...

my bad yes i got excited and posted this on here, it's no visible difference when i switch from 1080p to 720p from my dvd player menu...still a good deal in my eyes

Who the panel is made by means jack. There aren't actually many panel manufacturers, only the likes of LG, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic (and I think Pioneer used to make them) - it's just uneconomic for smaller companies to make them.

It the image processing and scalers than makes all the difference - some of these "fancy" features however can make the picture worse (not saying they specifically do, but things like XD etc). A good screen is normally defined by the amount of calibration allowed, and the levels of black as well as the "normal" contrast levels - not the digitally enhanced ones.

The best screens don't need DVD upscaling as the upscaler in the TV is already top-notch. However for a budget set the Normende (problems aside) does seem like a good buy.

I have one of these, and have tried 1080p and 720p from both my Xbox360 and PC and there is ****** all difference that I could see.
Wasn't expecting any though: On a 32" screen 1080p is rather pointless (I guess you might notice it from a few inches away but from anything like a normal viewing difference, doubtful), so paying a couple of hundred extra for that feature on a 32" screen is just daft. (Over 42" and it becomes more worthwhile).

Anyways, I will say this is a good set for the money (good DTV picture and stunning picture from by Xbox) and I am pleased enough with it.
Be warned though, it is not without a few issues some might not find suitable at all: 1) The volume control is not the best, with it's quietest setting still rather loud (it goes silent at 1) so something to consider if you want to use this in a bedroom or similar
2) Dropping the backlight below it's default of 10 (the highest setting), which for me does improve the overall look and feel of the picture, also produces a hum from the speakers. This hum isn't very loud though, and many might not even notice it with the volume set at a normal level.
