Not sure where this should be posted as its about switching electricity service....

For the first time in Northern Ireland, consumers may switch to energy company Airtricty, the first supplier to compete with NIE Energy since the market opened to competition in 2007.

Dublin-based Airtricity expects to undercut prices by about 14%

May not be for everyone but a genuine saving is too be had.

More details are on there website. They are currently allowing 6,000 customer per month to switch

I registered my interest a few days ago but not heard anything further since.....

Can't wait to leave the monopoly of NIE! :x

Can only be good for Norn Iron consumers

...not everyone will be able to take advantage of the price war which is expected to follow
those who currently use ‘pay as you go’ keypads – will be unable to switch for technological reasons....

Think I'll wait to see the outcome of the price war

The link is going to the Republic prices, you need to change the roi part of address to ni. But great savings compared to the rip off prices from NIE.

Thanks for posting si3000. Does anyone know if there are any downsides to switching? Also, is it worth waiting to they offer some freebee to make the switch?

No loyalty to NIE here, they've had it too good for too long...

I tried to switch. But they couldn't provide some basic information like tariff (how much per unit). How can we switch with just a headline saying save 14%
#9
the price per unit will be 14% lower than nie.I would rather keep my business in the North but money talks and they will a good bit cheaper and most important of all your in no way tied in to a contract.

Watch the T&C's
"Discount valid to 30th September 2011. SmartSaver Standard rates apply after introductory rate expires."

No idea what the 'SmartSaver Standard' rates are but most likely same as NIE.
