1 word AAAHHHRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
I think that covers half the planets feeling towards this product which i have spent most of the day removing and replacing.
To Fairly balance out the rant though if you are a loyal norton user who has had no issues with it then this is a fantastic price.
Do write and tell norton though as they will problably Frame you in the office or have you used as thier poster client for many years to come.

To those commenting on the speed, you obviously haven't used a more recent version of Norton then? I used to hate the thing, but it is now a lot better and quicker than before. Will still stick with my Kaspersky though :)

It is a pity so many people base their knowledge of Norton on the product as it was 3 years ago.

As crap as it is there is no denying that this is a great price for a Norton product. I gave you some heat anyway, although I'm a new user so it counts for nothing anyway LOL !!

Comodo internet security all the way !!
#7
have had the last three versions of 360 due to getting free copies off norton reps. Still bloomin rubbish, Hence the reason you are sticking with your Kaspersky

heat added ;)

Has anyone looked in this month's PC PRO mag? Norton gets the 2nd place in the Internet Security reviews, it consumes even less resources than Kasperksy!!!

I think the point is that Norton has been so unforgiveably bad for so many years that most people would rather spend their cash elsewhere no matter how good or bad this is. I'd rather get a virus than give these clowns money.

20yrs+ and your still wrong....

Norton products over the last couple years have cleaned their act up using the industry renowned Symantec corporate products as a basis...

No it's not free but if you want a paid AV product it's one of the best around again...

I'd agree with Uridium, Norton have had to clean up their act over the last few years....

Norton AV 2011 is a great product but Trend Micro Titanium is the Daddy IMO!

As R10BDK says, PC Pro rate it highly, it's on their A list

http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/software/361192/norton-internet-security-2011

I would recommend going for the full internet security suite

Think Norton have done a Skoda...
Made Crap Products a few years ago but more recently have moved up the game by learning from their mistakes. Latest reviews are giving Symmantec nothing but praise for the latest generation. I believe Symmantec realised the bad reputation they were getting and kicked some butts at their development centre.

NO!
you are all wrong.
so are all the PC magazines and independent testing sites.
infact every good review of Norton since 2009 is WRONG. (can't find any bad ones!)

why?
cos the populous of HDUK knows better and have declared that Norton itself is a virus.
must've infected all those sites and mags giving it good reviews

OK From one IT Tech with 20+ years to another IT Tech with 20+ years experience. You're talking out of your backside. Try asking your Boss for some training or perhaps they have given up on you ?

Voted hot. Excellent product.

My experience:

Norton 2005-2008 = total rubbish, resource hog, ineffective, crashing pile of poo.
Norton 2009-2011 = excellent, effective, small footprint, unobtrusive.

the latest versions have been excellent for me, no viruses, no noticeable performance drop (C2D E6600, 4GB Win7 Pro x64) plus the firewalls auto-configure for hardware and software far better than comparable products (McAffee for example I could not get to let my HP wireless printer through, norton on 4 other PCs on the same network was no problem)

One provisor I would make is that norton have started automatically signing you up for online renewal via credit card - which is about £45 per year, whenin reality if you go to the shops you can normally buy it for about half the price - so watch you dont get caught on that one....

You might find that every year ever magazine that gets this product for free, reports this product as excellant and we all know its variable!!!!!! HDUK users are right!!!

I would say v3 and v4 in other words with all the marketing 2009/2010 are the best versions they produced. I have been using v5 for a month and am so annoyed about the amount of resources it is using compared to v4, plus updates are 5mb then pulsed everytime you turn your computer on. IT'S RUBBISH AGAIN FOR NORTON! I'm switching to Microsoft Security Essentials 2 when it comes out of beta
