This was offered cheaply by Tesco until recently but they upped the price. Not my favourite security software but it is probably the most used paid for AV program worldwide

For several years AVG anti virus free edition has beaten it hands down and last year when I lloked into it as Virgin only let you have 3 free antivirused computers. It one again and I find it better than the Virgin broadband free one. I am sure the reviews still put it in the lead.
Spend the £30 on something else on the site

Run CC cleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ and spybot S&D http://download.cnet.com/Spybot-Search-amp-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html...and remove Norton or McAfee

I did try the trial of the new version and must admit it's a lot better than before (no lag), try it before you **** it off ;-) However I just got Kaspersky for £15.49 from Amazon for a 3 PC licence so £29.99 for Norton doesn't appeal as much to me I'm afraid

use avira free edition or avira 3 month promotion https://license.avira.com/en/promotion-cj0ptfb6eh8cmw6a101r for more promotions google is your friend.if yound security suite annoying just dont use the firewall. if you dont have antivirus how can ou tell your computer doesnt have virus/spyware. just because nothing seems to be wrong with your pc does not mean its malware free. you could have rootkits or keyloggers on your pc without you realising it. all our credit card details are being read without your knowledge if you have keyloggers on your system. in my experience those who has been using there windows OS pc for a while with no antivirus is bound to have something nasty on there system unless your running linux.

For good antvirus / malware / firewall software go with Eset Nod32

I just cleared up a friends PC that had over 2,500 pieces of malware on it, it was seriously messed up, was using 98% of his CPU all the time, had disabled Ctrl +Alt +Del, would shut down after 35 minutes plus other things.

After asking for advice I found that if you use the following 2 pieces of software they should clear everything up for you.

Malwarebytes

SuperAntiSpyware

I would use Nod32 I use it with Windows Vista 64 bit, but should work with any version of windows. I have had it for 2 years and have never had a single virus (touch wood) I ran those 2 malware software on mine to see if they could find anything, and they found 0 items infected, so NOD32 is doing it's job.

Get this version HERE as it has everything, AntiVirus, Firewall, Anti Spam, Anti Spyware, well worth the money.

people who think norton 2009 slows down their system clearly have an already ******ed pc or are just fanboys...out of all of the lastest security products i have used norton 2009 used the least memory by a long way, previous versions of norton have been bad, u cant argue that but 2009 was completely rewritten and is very good...i cannot comment about detection rates but most products give similar rates anyway
