Good Price

Good card, excellent price, heat added.

I had a custom made PC from PC Specialist
this time last year. I specified this card and
have not been disappointed. Playing Metro 2033
at the moment on DivX 11, great.
Good deal, heat added.

great deal if your budget is <£100 but for only £17 more you can get a 768Mb gtx 460/
still a good deal for a good card though!
#5
have the xxx xfx version and its a great, cool, quiet (fairly) low power consuming card :)

Is this better than anradeon 4870 512 mb gddr5?

Similar tier card.

i think (correct me if I'm wrong) but the 5770 is scoring slightly higher, can run directX11, is cooler, quieter and is less power hungry.

I don't think buying a 5770 at this stage and this price is a great idea, the 5770 price is set to plummet soon imo.
Better to find the extra for a 6850/gtx460/5850 and I own a 5770.

Besides which I'd rather pay £5 more than this and get a better branded 5770 with a decent rma service if and when needed.

Much better buy for £20 more but be aware if you game on a 24" screen you'll be needing the 1gb memory gtx460 and not the 768mb model but the 768 will just still about get by at 1080p

I've got an old pc with something called Asus Nforce4 motherboard, AMD 3200 CPU, 2gb RAM.

Is this GFX card likely to be compatibile with that motherboard?

Pixmania has for 92 quid, but you have to add delivery, this also have as good as new one for 78.20 plus delivery, so around 85 quid, plus 6% quidco, worth checking out

I was tempted by this as my ageing 4850 just runs stupidly hot, like 90c at idle, I think I may risk getting a 20 quid cooler though and stick with it, also want totally silent pc.

get an accelero s1 I used to run my 8800gt then 4850 with one just cable tie a 800rpm 120mm fan to it = virtually silent.
Your 4850 should not be 90c idle id clean it out and set the fan speed to manual in CCC 50% fan speed should do it

Way better than 3870. 3870 is more on par with 5570 or current GT 240 from nVidia.

The accerlo s1 is exactly what I was looking at, just bought a fractal design r3 case my pc totally silent apart from a slight hum from my graphics card, its annoying me lol. I think ( hope almost ) that the thermal paste isnt working properly anymore and it will fix the problem, was also looking at zalman vf770 cooler, its older model though and tiny bit cheaper at 15 quid but the accerlo looks v nice.

Don't need it, but have some heat.
#21
Will it go into a dell xps 420 375w ?? thanks

Maybe, the nforce4's were the first AMD boards to have PCI-Express

Would search the net and check for any compatibility issues, mainly due to the tech being so new at that time.

I currently have a 12cm Scythe fan ( a regular one , not the Sharkoon or Noctua tyoe silent ones ) and have it's speed slowed down using Zalman fanmate 2. The fan itself is ziptied to the Acelero S1.

You should see my HSF - massive Scythe Infinity and a Arctic Cooling 12cm fan blowing air out and also speed reduced using BIOS

Great price, but I'm gonna wait a little while longer before I get a second one for crossfire
