Can these be used in a PCI-e v1.1 port?

yes, PCIE 2.0 is fully backwards compatible, you can stick this in a 1.1 slot, or a 1.1 card into a 2.0 slot with no problems

Are there 1GB graphics cards out yet or is that a long time away?

Edit: just saw them on the site, wow

Not quite! You also need a pci-express 6 pin power connector, which nowadays comes as standard with a decent power supply. If not, then as long as you have a 450w+ power supply then use the (normally) supplied molex 4 pin to pci-express adapter. Any other questions, please feel free to ask! Thanks, hbg.

Am I right in saying that those of us who buy the card in this deal are gonna get the discontinued xfx version of the card, as shown in the picture on the novatech site? If so, then awesome, as the cooler on this card runs much cooler than the standard hd4850. Fingers crossed eh?

Sorry don't know much about PC componentry.... would this fot my recently ordered Dell Vostro 440? I'm looking to create a Media PC which will primarily run Photoshop for photo editing and also download and edit HD video from my Sony AVCHD camcorder?

If this isn't for me, any recommendations?

I've been searching for your pc but can't find any info. Please post a link to it so I can see the specs otherwise I can't help you.

Apologies.... it was a Dell Vostro 420. Only link I have is below.....

Thanks for your help.

Should handle it fine but if you already have a 512MB 9800 GT I wouldn't recommend this card as it won't give you that much of a performance boost.
#23
Mrpie.... thanks for that..... 80 quid saved then. Would my existing card be upto the job then? What would you (or anyone else) recommend?

Thanks again

I don't know a lot about photo/video editing but I reckon you'd be Ok with that. If not have a look at the graphics card comparison chart here:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-geforce-price,2323-6.html
The top ones are the best (and most expensive), nVidia cards are on the left and ATI to the right. Obviously the longer you wait to upgrade the better, as new cards come out and the current ones get cheaper all the time.

Ordered this, FOR this price its a complete steal. Basically the card will cost only £59 once you remove the worth of the game. Hot. Am just worried about novatech never bought from them and according to their terms and condition they dont seem so nice. You cant even cancel you order, so make sure you want this before you do something crazy.
