Good price for a USB3 docking station.
    ThunderBolt
    Noiseless?

Using SSD it might be, but an exposed drive won't.

That sId it's unlikely you'd have this on permanently so not really that important.

    Good spotting!

Got the USB 2.0 versions when it was £6ish with free delivery. Very happy with it.

In terms of noise it's barely noticable so that's not really a worry.

I have the 2.0 one as well, very useful device.

This is a really good deal - I paid over 30 quid for something similar at Maplins recently. Heat added.

I have an esata/usb2.0 one and it's indispensable. Paid a little more than this. usb3 should make this useable.

Not bad but weren't these about £5 over xmas

Haven't got anything usb3 yet. Am I to assume that this will work over usb2 as well? Also quite like idea of esata one because I have a spare port.

Is it possible to remove the NovaTech logo on the front? It looks horrible. Is this why the dock is so cheap?

Yes. USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0.

Upgrading to USB 3.0 is highly recommended though since USB 2.0 will be a bottleneck for modern SATA HDDs.

I have one of these (not the same brand) and its invaluable for pulling stuff together from loads of old drives.

These are handy if you require alot of drive testing. Like a workshop perhaps or in my work, removal of data after scrapping the desktops..

The docking station will be noiseless regardless of what drive you put in it... it's the drive that makes a noise! :p

Seriously though, I have Spinpoint F4s in mine and it's pretty damn quiet. If anything, there's a slight hum from my desk vibrating, which probably says more about the balance of the platters than anything. If I lift it off the desk then it is inaudible.

One thing I've spotted however is that the drive gets pretty warm. I don't leave this one on all the time, but if I did I'd be concerned about the potential effect of prolonged heat on my drives.
