----------------

It isn't the latest generation, but it's a damn powerful machine.
More than capable of running even the latest games, and with bluray & a huge hi-res screen it'd be great for movies too.

All it's lacking is an O/S.

Perfect desktop replacement machine.

Only 3 in stock though, so I doubt this deal will get hot.

Don't forget quidco too: 3% (~£17.64)

Also, another option is this one (X80MV 17" WUXGA(1920x1200) - INTEL CORE 2 DUO P9500 4GB DDR3 NVIDIA 9800M GTX 1GB VGA 320GB SATA HDD BDROM/DVDRW - NO O/S) @ £479.99.

P9500 instead of a P8800, and 9800M GTX instead of a GTX 260M, but a worthwhile trade when it saves you £108 !
There's only 1 of these available though :(

:edit:

Further research has me really liking the above machine; the 9800M GTX is virtually identical to the GTX 260M and the performance of the P9500 & P8800 are near identical too.

So...errr.....yeah.
While the laptop this deal refers to is IMO a bargain, this laptop(@ £479.99) is an even better bargain!!

FYI.

For those unfamiliar with Novatech's own brand - their build quality is excellent.

This is a stonking deal too:

http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/laptops/Novatech/NNB-CLR44.html

Novatech 15.4"(1680X1050), Intel P8700(2.53GHz), 4Gb 800Mhz RAM, 250Gb Hard Drive, DVDRW, NO O/S £311.99 !!

What it fails to mention, is the GPU - which from searching elsewhere I believe to be an Nvidia 9600M GT 512MB DDR3. A respectable class-2 GPU.

After quidco cashback that's ~£300 for a moderately capable gaming laptop! Amazing value!

I still think the £479.99 17" machine is the best of the bunch. (edit. Unfortunately it's gone now)

I am not at all a fan of laptops, but.... if you are going to buy one... this is one to buy!.... if you use your laptop as your main pc (what a high percent of people do these days)... my reasoning in my statment, is that if you buy a desktop with everything that this comes with (1920 x 1200 monitor, Core 2 Duo 45nm 2.7, 4GB DDR3, 320Gb, gtx260(yeah i know it mobile) a blue ray player ) it would cost simler and not got the mobility.... like i said dont like laptops but this realy dose deserves HEAT.... Heat added

Obviously someone agreed, as the £479.99 laptop has gone! :(

DDR3? Strange choice. Most C2D computers use DDR2 (to match the FSB). Doesn't matter I suppose, just a thought. Novatech are a decent company, by the way. I have purchased from them a few times with no problems.
#7
Although itsa 260M - this is a little bit misleading from Nvidia as its a slightly reworked 9800GTX mobile part. That being said, I think its a good price, for a nice system. Only 2 left as I read, so a fast mover!
#8
amazing price for each one
#9
This is two generations old. Not bad price but not gonna vote.
#10
I'll chose not to vote on this one as my experience with Novatech in the past has been terrible. However this deal/machine may be better than the one I had. The laptop I got from them was M20 I believe and it was terribly slow, the trackpad was a nightmare to use and the support guy I spoke with seemed like an idiot.
#11
Old processor......
No Thanks

Agreed.
Anything other than Corei is gonna get old fast.

Another GREAT laptop deal, thanks! muuuust resist!

like the monitor but the cpu so not for me.

i would go for this one

http://www.wizmarkcomputers.co.uk/hot-deals-dell-studio-xps-15.htm

i know its not the same screen.... but at least better cpu and gpu

the 6 laptop down for 629 + code = 598

it seems better choice for gaming that is and hdmi grants you 1920*1080 on your tv

Good deal but .....

I believe you are mistaken there.
The GTX 260M is significantly faster than the GT 420M.
#16
It old tech, that much is true, but it's reflected in the price. You would have paid the thick end of two grand for this a couple of years ago, and it more than capable, even now.

Where'd you get the specs from for this laptop? I can't find them anywhere but am very interested in the screen res
#18

I worked backwards from the appearance of the laptop in the image, and found the model to be the X50MV. From there I found numerous configurations of this laptop model, but all had the same GPU: the 9600M GT.

However, I've since contacted Novatech directly & was told the GPU was the 8600M GT.
I've created a thread specifically for this deal, where i've posted what I believe to be the correct specs.

still 2 left...I would definitely go for this, but I already have a sony vaio with 1920x1080 laptop
#21
I'm very tempted by this as I've never seen a graphics card as good as this in a sub-£600 laptop and I have a copy of Windows 7 (which was going to be used on my desktop when I got an SSD, but that hasn't happened yet).

My main concern is that the HDD seems a bit small - my steam folder alone would easily over half-fill it. Would it be easy to replace it with another 2.5" HDD?

Also there doesn't seem to be any mention of an included wireless card at all except where it says "Mini-PCI 2 x Mini PCI Card Socket (1 Used If Wireless Option Taken)" - but I can't find an option to say I want the wireless option, does it include one preinstalled?
