(First Post Be Kind :D) This is the Coolest Novelty Item Ever, Featured on the Simpsons!!!

- A felt covered head and has plastic feet
- Fluid inside condenses from the evaporative cooling of the water off the bird's beak, making it top heavy and dunking it back into the water Forever!!
- The condensate rejoins the liquid pool in the bird's bulb, and he tips up again
- Process continues indefinitely
- The fluid and dye inside the bird can permanently stain, and the bird's glass body can easily be broken
- Children are fascinated by the bobbing bird, and the educational possibilities are great

I remember this, it reminds me of when I was a child and had to go visiting family - two of my aunties had this and it used to fascinate me, unlike the conversations I had to sit through!

"To start press any key. (reading screen) Where's the "any" key? I see Esc, Catarl, and Pig Up. There doesn't seem to be any "any" key. Wo! All this computer hacking is making me thirsty. I think I'll order a Tab. (presses TAB key)"

Can't remember where we got ours, but I know it kept visitors occupied ! Brought back loads of memories of what we had at the time, which we thought were the bees knees ! Anyone remember the spherical vacuum cleaner that floated on air ? Amazing ! Big music centres, ie tape deck, cassette and turntable.. Spherical portable tv..String pictures..Fibre optic lamps..Autumn gold coloured oven, plastic cut out fit together lightshades the bigger and more intricate the better,( when we moved into our first place we bought this big lightshade,( the first thing we bought )and kept saying to people 'do you like our lightshade' we had nothing else yet but we were so proud of it ha ha ) mushroom lamps. Wallpaper patterns which are in the shops now !!!! Feature walls ! All done in the 70s ! :-D OMG I have to stop, just realised how long ago that was. I feel soooo old....but, not quite ready for my zimmer frame yet ! :w00t:

Does this solve the problem of perpetual energy then? :)

Newton's cradle as a similar toy has a finite amount of decreasing energy but this uses naturally replenishable resources . I'd love to see 1000 feet high drinking birds powering my town! ;)

Invented 1945 and patented 1946. They've never gone away since! ;-)

Nice deal - out of stock now, though. Order taken OK but tracking shows as 'Waiting for Supplier'.

I had one of those - bought it from a car boot sale when i was about 5!
#37
We had one when i was about 7, sometime in the late 70's from Minehead. I recall that ours never worked, so being seven, I was practicing my 'Special Powers' on it, i stared at it for about half an hour trying to make the red stuff in the neck rise.....and it did, tipping the bird. Ive been convinced of my special abilities ever since, although the wife is unconvinced.
#38
There is also one in in the film "ALIEN", when the crew are sitting around the table after coming out of hypersleep.

Yes I've watched it loads of time's..

I'm going to order one as well.

H&R added.
