Seeing as they only started putting them on CD for Now 4, this is one of a kind!

Are the tapes worth anything - still got an original twin box set of Now, Now 3 and Now 4 in the loft?

It was never called Now 1 was it? I don't suppose they thought it would get to Now 722! LOL

I'm sure it was Now 4 as the first CD, my old mans a collector and he KNOWS lol.

Good ol wikipedia:
"Unabridged (double CD) full versions of Now were first available starting with Now 10 in 1987, although a version of Now 4 was released on CD featuring songs that had appeared on the vinyl and cassette configurations of Nows 2, 3 & 4"

No, it was never called "Now 1"
It was called: "Now That's What I Call Music"

The first commercial CDs pressed were The Visitors by Abba in 1982 , Now That's What I Call Music was released in 1983 on vynil
#23
Now 4 was promotional and was not the full double album. I've seen some go for silly silly prices on ebay (£500)
I think the first official one publically available was either now 7 or 8

My mum went to a boot fair last year and bought a box of lps for 20p. Every album is in mint condition inside. Included is a copy of the Now 1 vinyl in prestine condition.

Lol...just finished with Stewie teething. Yes it was called Now Thats What I Call Music, but I think people call it Now 1 to avoid categorising it with the other 90 Nows lol.

I think you're quids in then, sure I saw something on the telly a while ago, and the original vinyl, in good condition was worth about £50-£100 or so

In answer to other questions, it definitely was just called 'Now that's what i call Music'

Some vague recollection that the cover art had somethign to do with a pig wearing sunglasses as well?

I have kept hold of all my vinyl and tapes even though they are muffled / scratched. That way I have an original licence for every song I bought and I can legally hold a digital copy without having to buy a new licence.

A friend digitised 400 cd's to put onto a music server and then gave away all the original disks to anyone that wanteds them. He only realised the error of his ways when I asked him how he was gonna prove he had ever bought an original licence.

A box of LP's has a much greater value than the cost of 20p at a bootsale when you consider the cost of legitimate DRM free downloads.

NOW 4 was the first NOW CD. Released as a promo run to test the market (not many CD players going about in 1984!). Released as a single dic comprising of tracks from Now 1,2 and 3. The vinyl version had a full tracking listing.

NOW 8 and 9 were released next, also as single disc CDs.

Now 10 was the first NOW double CD.

Now 4 CD is worth a packet in any condition.
Now 8 and 9 are also rare - as is the first NOW Xmas CD.

The vinyl and cassettes are worth very little - Vinyl copies of NOW 30+ releases are rarer and so go for a fair bit.

Now 10-20 on CD are very rare and still fetch few bob on the bay,

:p
Funnily enough I have all the releases on CD.

You would probably looking at £30 tops so wouldn't plan your retirement yet. The values have took a nose dive since the releases were announced.
