Alien Breed remake: Classic Amiga download with full PC compatibility

This game is a true classic and one that stuck with me through the years. I was more than overjoyed to find this for free download and even more overjoyed to find that it worked flawlessly with Vista

Thanks! Does this work well on a PC, and without causing any other problems?

Yes it works great, and is really fast and does not cause any problems...

You could install winuae and then amikit from amikit.com which is free, but you will need an amiga rom file to create a full working amiga on your pc for amiga games, i can send you a rom file if you wish.... or you can go to amigaworld.net or amiga.org and find out about the new amiga's on sale,

NTL PVR Box (Sky+ equivalent) released on Tuesday 16th Jan 2007

What region are you in? I understand the rollout will not be the whole of the UK at once. Also, I had heard there would be a hefty install charge of £70 or so.

I'm in Herts and there is no installation fee if keeping the original box (for a fiver a month).
I was told by Sky when our + box broke down that it would cost me £250!!!

I pretty much told them I wanted to cancel my subscription as I had been with them on the 2nd top package for over 4 years. I was then told they could fit one for £150 and then £99. I stuck to my guns telling them I would go to NTHell as I was not prepared to pay a penny towards the box with already paying the monthly fee from Sky and the TV license fee.

Eventually I was told that I would get a refurbed box with 3 months warranty for nothing and an engineer would be out to fit it. I think they came within 48 hours.

I know it's a little off the subject, but I wanted to let people know that they shouldn't have to pay a penny for a new Sky+ box.
In Feb ntl/telewest becomes Virgin Media i would imagine that there will be some nice offers to launch the new company so it may be worth it to wait a few weeks

Chris
Thanks for the heads up

Phoned NTL and got through to customer services who at first did'nt know what I was talking about and then said I had to wait for the leaflet coming through the post.

Put the phone down, dialled again chose the options for being disconnected and suddenly it is available in my region and can be installed in 2 weeks. At £15 a month.

Only downside was I could'nt get a deal to reduce my b/band cost to match free broadband from Sky.
Thanks for the post ellives ;-) Also extra info all :)

introlux
thanks for the heads-up, missed it last time
The 300 minutes/ 300 texts sim is back! Alternatively you can get 100mins/100 texts with a handset

http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/specialoffers/existingcustoffers.html

Not available to order just yet but apparently from 26th aug to 1st oct according to banger9365 over at mse
Now this is a bargain!
I've been with Virgin for Years and have always had great Customer service. Reception has been good but I'm sure that will improve!

Now to have a chat with them!
colinb07958
So am I right in saying that if you dont actually have a mobile for the sim card then they will send you a mobile for £2.99 postage?

How do you do that, do you have to phone them or can you get the handset online?

I took this deal out 2 weeks ago being a TW customer. I got a Nokia 1112 phone and that cost me 2.99 for delivery. I gave it to my son for his birthday and he was over the moon! Obviously I kept the SIM for my own phone, and shoved in a Virgin PAYG SIM that I applied for from here when they were free - it had £5 credit on it too!

I will be struggling to use that amount every month, for £10 quid its a major steal.

Also, you call 789 you get told accurately the number of TXTs and MINs you have left.

Also, it costs nothing, not even from your minutes, to access voicemail.

why the negative feedback?
is this a true thread and does this also mean that sky kids shows are free also? if so then at this time of years with the kids off its a good deal.
i no longer have ntl and wouldnt be paying for the channels if i did but id be intersted if it works on sky
ty
They normally charge to watch movies, music videos etc. Don't recall seeing kids shows on there before, I guess it's a way of promoting to parents that the service is there (I never use it).

If you have Sky, it's the same as Box Office.
Sinaloe
If you have NTL

Press the on demand button on your ntl remote and choose Kids. There you can choose any of those shows (Bob the builder, Pingu, Dora, etc.....) and watch them for free at any time.

:santa:

OK. How much do they normally cost? I don't have NTL, so just curious :) Welcome from me too.
You are welcome and thank you.
Thanks for the info & welcome to HUKD Sinaloe :santa:

The title is a bit misleading, first thought was it's gotta be too good to be true.
schizoboy
I wonder if you order via quidco for NTL (£27.50) or Telewest (£40) means you still get this or if this is alternative to affliate resources.
Motorola L7's are going for £50-£75+ on ebay though, shouldnt cost more than a tenner to unlock

BECKYBOO the title should be changed to say
Free Motorola L7 when you order TW/NTL cable

That would be nice schizoboy, quidco too!!!!

I dont think so though.

ser03, The only feasible option to cable is dsl. With dsl instead of connecting to a big router via digital, fibre-optic data cables, you connect to the big router via a telephone exchange and miles of technologically obselete copper wire designed for analogue voice signals. NTL and telewest speeds do not 'play up or down' whereas this *always* happens with alternative of 'up to 8Mb/s' touch-and-go dsl services. Telephone wires can't cope with 10 megabit/s whereas the top end speed of cable is huge; they can fit 10Mb/s down your cable with room for digital TV video & audio signals and a telephone line without breaking a sweat.

Hi, as NTL discution goes farther plz advice.
I am thinking to go for NTL broadband but was advice don't cos quality is no great, speed plays up and down and sometimes nothing at all.
Is this true? and how bad is it?

i think people's experience varies, but most people I know find the service excellent, unless you need to call them!! line speed is great, only had a few days outage in 6yrs I had it. if you can get a good deal I still think its the best :D
Artemis
(I assume you meant meg not gig?).

Haha yeh, had a stupid moment there!
Can a mod edit the original post please, wont let me edit the description?!
I generally find speed is great. Then again I've got 10meg

Chinese p2p for sports? Tell me more :)

Cannot be discussed on the forum I'm afraid! Do a Google search!
effing & jeffing
i get broadband for £9.99,
pay BT for the line £10.50 (i think?)
use freeview (nearly all the channels listed in this package), chinese p2p for sports, I've got mediacentre for recording channels/pausing/rewinding TV etc.
& use cashback (& sell the phone they give)for free mobile minutes, soon as I've worked VOIP out thats next,
When a mobile deal comes with full cashback and free broadband (orange is nearly there!) thats another £10pm saved. £40 is a greatdeal if I was lazy or a mere mortal.

I love these deals 'cos they push the boundry - to how good media deals can be

Chinese p2p for sports? Tell me more :)
Await til 2 October read on one of the forums that these offers are evolving due to ntls acquisition of Virgin mobile and may be enhanced after this date!;-)

That's such a good deal! Shame its not available in my area!

Yeah same, I doubt they'll ever be cable here.

great deal
I never knew ntl still exist
Does anyone know how VM send out things to customers? They are supposed to be sending me a STB under the easy self installation scheme and it has just occurred to me I have no idea how they send it.

Do they send them with couriers like Parcel ****** Force, or just by Royal Mail or even have an engineer drop one off?
I have just had to ring retentions dep't for the umteenth month running as the retention discounts were wrong yet again. The lady has now given me free talk unlimited for 12 months, half price XL BB for another 3 months,an additional £9 discount for having 2 services.I already have a lifetime discount on my Line rental of £8.92 (Text direct discount). So all being well my next months bill for XL BB and line rental with Talk unlimited should be about £11.I certainly will put up with the long wait on the phone if my bill keeps getting better every time i ring.:)
I have just negotiated with VM - £27 a month for large broadband and large tv (without phone services).

I have a feeling they could do a better deal if they wanted - but - the official 3 for £25 deal on their website is for large TV and medium broadband, so I don't suppose it's too bad.
