I have it on good authority that this is surprisingly nice.
I reckon they over emphasised 'fish' on the label and nobody bought it.

Absolutely revolting. Disgusting, cheap, artificial tasting rubbish.
Try real fish sauce and make your own dip using real ingredients

As with all these sauces (especially sweet chilli), you may as well use a bottle of syrup and some food colouring. Cheap for a bottle of syrup though?

58% water, 38% sugar, 2.5% salt, and not much actual ingredients - http://www.bluedragon.com/products/sauces/nuoc-cham-nem-dipping-sauce.aspx

Probably the least classic vietnamese sause there is as they tend not to use sugar in their food.

I would prefer to make my own sauces, dips, meals etc from scratch but this cant be done all the time, usually because of cost and preperation or cooking time. Usually, if these items are already pre-made then they will contain all sorts...

I was making spring rolls from scratch and thought for 29p it was a well worthy accompaniment

We do use sugar in the dipping sauce, not so much in cooking dishes though. I would say the classic dipping sauce for spring roll is: crush garlic and chilli + fish sauce + lime + sugar + water
