256MB XFX 8600GT, PCI-E, Mem 1400MHz GDDR2, GPU 540MHz, 32 Cores, D-Sub/DL DVI-I/HDTV
Manufacturer code PV-T84J-UALG

Note: to get this price you have to go via the Today Only link on their homepage:
http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/ and scroll down to it.
(otherwise comes up £39.94, still good!)
Free delivery if you have an account for that (see AV forums offer etc.)

Today Only (=all weekend) & in stock at time of posting.
Wasn't looking for this myself but seems very cheap, recent hot deals on similar card were around £50, i paid £75 a year ago...

DDR2 (may be a bit slower than DDR3, do the research)
But considering its a pound less than their 8500GT, looks like a cracking deal or a misprice.

nice find smiffy

got the 512mb version of this card from pc world price match for around £50, plays everything in highest settings on my pc (call of duty 4, rainbow six vegas 2 etc). Not sure if this version will be much different but an excellent budget card for gaming and can be used with 300w cpu. Good find!

Is there not a £6.55 carriage to be added on to make the price of the card £43.83?

Unless there is a free delivery some how?
#6
Nice. Would get this if wasent so skinnt. (Always go for budget rangers as aint a graphics snob, as long as the fps is fine on medium-low settings on newish games I'm good).

I have a GeForce 7600GS at the moment. Is it worth replacing it with this?

Thanks in advance.

I ordered some stuff from them earlier in the week and had the exact same issue. Pages taking long time to load.

Have to say, I find their support terrible. I ordered stuff from them on Wednesday and was told would be delivered tomorrow. Got an email late on Friday night to say they had a problem and the items weren't dispatched. No detail, no explanation, no date when "issue" supposed to be resolved for. I've ordered from them 2-3 times in the past and vaguely recall this happening before. Perhaps they should concentrate more of getting stuff out than the new shiny store they've just opened.

I was going to say no, but actually these charts
http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/graphics-cards/3dmark06-v1-0-2-hdr-sm3-0-score,538.html
show it being around twice as fast. so perhaps it is.
people voting cold because "8600gt is a slow card".. its plenty fast enough for many games, and has low wattage (no power connecter needed, max load under 75W!). just depends what you want to play... i'm sticking with mine until I can get a 8800GS for around this price.

What's the point? 1 GB wont make it any faster unless your playing at "ultra1337" setting (which the card isnt fast enough to do) or using a rediculous resolution.
#12
I have this type of card from a year ago. It does the job to be honest. Right now I'd spend the extra to get an 4850 though.
#13
Its a great price for a decent card, but please do bear in mind you can get a 8880gs for about £25 more, and about 3x the performance.
#14
eh why has this expired.. still in stock.. I keep seeing this happening on this site, is it a trigger happy mod or some automated thing going wrong?
#15
hi,

i know this may be a bit of a wierd question, but would i be better off with the 8600gt card or
2 of xfx 7600gt xxx runnnig in SLi, price is the about the same for both options,

in not really into pc gaming, more into graphic design, mainly illustrator and quark,

i have a acer e700 q6600, 2gb ram,

any help appreciated,

Cheers

Someone didn't read the thing about the Today Only aspect clearly, and just saw it was £3 more on the linked webpage ... either that or they just don't like Scan.

either that or they want to buy all of them themselves :p .. at 39.94 this is still good
#18
Price still appears to be £36.13 if you click 'buy' from the today only page instead of clicking through to the item and then buying!
#19
Strange...when you add this to basket from the linked page it goes in at £39.94. Before Scan changed their website this would have changed to the today only price once added. Now you have to go through the today only link to get the reduced price.

Anyway, this price has not expired, you just need to go through the "Today Only" link on the right hand side. I have reported it so hopefully a mod will un-expire it

You're right. Free delivery through AV Forums ended some time ago. OP should correct the price.

Yet another example of people voting hot without bothering to check that the listing is correct.
#21
terribly sorry, thought many people here had free delivery from Scan.
i would edit the first post to show £43.83 total with delivery and then the price without, but i can't, because its expired? gah. STILL in stock and still a good deal though.
#22
i would recommend this if your looking for a budget graphics card that is decent.

What he said. For a bit more you can get a huge leap, without breaking the bank.

This is virtually half the price of that - only £18 delivered.

Surely a better deal:?

I can't see any at £25 more but if you double the price you can get a lot faster card, but then you're paying twice as much.
#27
thanks to the mod for unexpiring.
according to Tomsharware, the ATI2400 is a much slower card

i was going to ask, someone please post this 8800GS for £61, i might be interested in that.

An extra....£81?
#29
yeah some people have a funny idea of value lol. i'm not spending more than £50 on any future graphics card, I just regret it if you do because its halved in value and if you're like me, you've hardly played any new games in that time ..
#30
Will be getting an 8800GT from ebuyer this week hopefully, sticking my 7600GT on ebay :-D
#31
I got one of these a year ago for £60 (512mb)- great card if you only play games occasionally.
There is a option to get a silent version from Gigabyte - passively cooled FTW
#32

Useful to know - thanks!

Still, I thought the convention here was to include P&P in the headline price.

300w cpu? is your computer on fire yet?
I'm guessing you mean PSU?

Are you having a giraffe :w00t:, just about every bench on the link you provided shows the 8600GT beating the 7600GT (albeit by a modearate amount). The 7900GT & GS also don't beat the 8600GT on every game either. I do agree the 8600 GTS from Aria is a good deal though.
