This is the NEW gts card launched today, other places are charging £223+.

This is £199.99, use £5 off code: prima836u1 to get it for £194.99.

Dont forget quidco (4%), so about £187.50 after quidco and code:)

This is faster than GTX for most resolutions and about 5% slower with 1920*1200 resolution.

arent GT's still meant to be quicker ? and can be had for less - I might be wrong I dont know how different this new one is ?

anyone got any info on how this compares to the GT or old GTS ?

Just ordered myself one, you beat me to it  My Q6600 will thank me and my stopgap x1950 pro can go to the 'bay :-D Happy Christmas to me :santa:

The next cheapest PNY I found was £230 + delivery. Some of the other models are selling for £270 so I got in there before stock disappears and the price shoots up. I've seen 8800 GTX cards for £240-260 :?

no bigdanny, the new GTS was launched today, its about 10-15% faster than the GT that was released 1 month ago.

The GTS has more stream processors (128 to the GTs 96 I believe) and is clocked higher, with a much better cooler for overclocking.

This says 512Mb so it has to be the new version (as the old one was 320Mb or 640Mb) Review here - http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/1234/1/page_1_introduction/index.html

That fan/cooler looks a lot quieter than the GTs

they run over 5c cooler than the gt's, quieter and obviously faster. this is a steal when scan are charging £234+, ocuk are charging £223+ and so are tekheads and other places. £187.50 ish after quidco and code:)!

very good price

Seems to draw more power than the GT, I wonder if my 430W Seasonic S12 will cope with it... http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/1234/16/page_16_power_consumption_tests/index.html

Don't forget that this card occupies two physical PCI 'slots', whereas the 8800GT only needs one.

This could be quite an important factor if (like me) you want to install it into a SFF case, such as a Shuttle or if you don't have a 'spare' adjacent slot.

430w is pretty low, you could try it, if it wont work sell your psu and buy a corsair 520w. they are around £60 ish on scan.co.uk

Bah was running around looking for my Cash Card....

Shakes fist at Play.com

They sold the preorders for £199 before as well, so much price gouging going on by other etailers.
#22
At that price surely the £240 768meg GTX that was posted on here a few days back is a much better deal ? Im looking to upgrade from my old AGP system soon and thought the GTX a better option for my 22" monitor @ 1680x1050. Can anyone give me good advice on the best one ??

the gts is better for that res squelds, plus it uses less power and has hd decoding etc.
#24
Order went through to processing, so they accepted it at that price. Good work.

Mine is showing "packing" now, and they're also showing this card as out or stock. I'm glad I'm getting it at a decent price :)

Overclockers UK had their prices released just before 2pm today...I guess all others e-tailers possibly copied the prices (wait and see approach) they can get away with bumping them up a little. I guess availability is driving the price up perhaps - but more so with the 8800GT.

The GTX is still a better performing card (especially at higher resolutions) but only by a small margin. Its extra memory at 768MB and memory bus certainly seem to help. It consumes more power (about 40W and therefore more heat) than the new 512MB GTS released today. They both have the same number of stream processors mind.

The GTX has the old G80 core whereas the new GTS 512MB has the newer G92 - this brings better cooling and therefore some overclocking potential? also core improvements make the new GTS a better choice. I think if you are gaming on 1920 x 1200 then the GTX would be better.

I've heard that the single slot 8800GT runs very hot indeed (so you'll need decent case cooling) - a dual slot design seems to work better for these cards.

Shame if they did copy Overchargers :(

I got mine, Merry Christmas to me :-)
