why cold??

Its the same tired old debate.

Is it the cheapest price available? Maybe.
Is it good value? Absolutely not.

The cold voters seem to agree

Have some heat, cheapest I've personally seen it especially with the copy of destiny 2. Shouldn't be cold, think it's the price or the fact that it's pc gaming that people are voting against. Great find

Arguing value on new GPUs will be an ongoing debate until the end of days, if you're looking to run 4k I'd argue one of these vs 2 980TIs is better value.

Go outside and do something useful. Colder than a titches wit

If people want to game and pay this kind of price for something considered top of the range in it's given area then let them. Maybe they have a full time job and work hard for their money so they like spending this kind of money on stuff they'll enjoy. don't think you're in a position to tell someone to go outside and do something useful.

The mark up on these must be huge

The 1080TI actually uses the same chipset as the Titan X (a card I would never dream of buying but for comparison purposes let's roll with it) and the Titan X will set you back about £1200 so in comparison it's not too bad. But agreed GPUs are getting stupidly expensive nowadays and it hurts just a little bit more when I need to open the wallet again.

Are you trying to say that adults are buying these toys for themselves? I assumed that it was for children to play with.Sorry, in that case please don't go outside, ever.

Are you trying to say only children play games? What's the problem with an adult buying this for themselves and using it for their own entertainment purposes?

You realise the vast majority of gamers are adults or have you never been outside yourself and live under some rock where the only interests people have are your own?

Cheaper at laptops direct; £1 Which? trial for £15 off, and/or cashback.

Do you even know what this is?!?
Describing a state of the art GPU as a toy demonstrates incredible ignorance.

Its a good price for what it is. You will always find people who can't afford it vote it down in jealousy. As they say, haters gonna hate.

I currently run a ASUS Strix 980ti and will be upgrading to a 1080ti once it gets to the sort of price on this deal. I game @4k, work very hard for my disposable income, so I enjoy the finer things in life when I am not working.

And in reality, £649 is nothing on a hobby, look at golf membership, that costs £1500 a year, gym membership, another £500 a year.

I like that the deal posted saying you get a free copy of Destiny 2 with a purchase of a 1080 has gone to over 300deg, but this post where you actually buy the card is negative ... got to love HotUKdeals logic ...

Got this exact card and it's monstrous. Paired with a 1440/165hz gsync monitor is just gaming bliss, also have it running into my living room 4k tv if I want to chill on the couch. Get's 60fps in almost everything at 4k with some tweaking.

Just be warned, this model is apparently really likely to have coil whine.
#19
It has no back plate and I've read multiple reviews over complaining over its substantial coil wine

[EDITED] To clarify my initial answer. I'm just agreeing with the commentary of LuckyFog here, who represents also my same viewpoint. And therefore also voting cold = -1 score:

Voted cold, for the reason that a product costing over #600 GBP should not have those issues...
I have the same model and no issues so seems luck of the draw. Bear in mind coil whine can be caused by a faulty/poor quality PSU rather than the card itself.

All them cold votes, hard crowd.

Voted hot.
