This is the slower 192 shader version and not the faster 216 shader version. Also note that the HD4870 512mb is available for £145 and the HD4870 1gb for £165:

The 192 shader version of the GTX260 is slower than both versions of the HD4870:

I would have the 260 over the 4870 any day and this is a great deal. There is hardly any difference between the 192 and the 216 version. Probably the best price we will see on these, plus you get the Evga 90 day stepup program . Also Evga have superb customer support. HOT!!!

Voted hot. Good price for powerful card.

As mentioned both 512MB and 1024MB versions of HD4870 are better. The HD4870 will also have a price cut to coincide with the release of GTS 250 cards.

GTX 260-216 = 1024MB HD4870 > 512MB HD4870 > GTX 260 > 9800GTX+/GTS 250 = HD 4850

A good price, but its still not the best bang for buck in the ~£160 market. 10 year warranty is good though.

Hot cards :)

They've been price matched by overclockers uk (well slightly beaten), but then again novatech have quidco.

The service from novatech is probably better though.

Would definately take the 4870 1GB at this price point. This is the older 260.

I agree. But those with a GTX 260-192 (probably kicking themselves for spending so much on release) have a cheap SLI route.

Any ideas for a good motherboard for this. As i am building a new PC and got the newer model of Geforce 260 GTX 216 already along with the Intel Quad Core Q6600

Thanks

Nvidia cards are good for folding. Idle power is lower. Mirrors Edge is a decent game. 192 cores is overkill for 22" resolutions. EVGA is a good brand. Novatech are a good shop. I can't help but like this deal.

As to the motherboards for a Q6600 it might be worth keeping an eye on Abit board prices now they have withdrawn from the motherboard business. The iP35 Pro XE has been hovering around £60-£70 and was previously £100+ but you ain't going to get the bios updates for the newer 45nm parts. Well not officially at least.

dammit man i just bought the zotac gtx 260 for £183 last monday :(

Just received the Novatech Newsletter and it stated that it has 216 stream processors ... could you argue it if they gave you the 192 stream processor version instead of the 216?
