Nvidia must be worried by new AMD cards huge price drop on gtx 470's, this gtx 470 is now cheaper than top end gtx 460 cards! Bargain for the price imo, this card was over £300 a few months back?!

These cards run hot, noisy & use a lot more power then a 5850 , which has comparable performance. With the new AMD cards out next week, I would hang on buying a new card.
Still, if you are a NVIDIA fan, this is a very good price for this card.

True, but this is the 'cheapest' GTX 470 yet, there may be more price cuts soon. Also you get physics and 3D games support with this card which may appeal to some people?

If you were considering buying a GTX 460 1GB, this card offers better performance for the same price range, may be worth considering...

How annoying, I ordered this exact card 1 month ago for £215. Can't complain to much though as it's amazing!

Also, good point on the PhysX, makes this a much better buy than the ATI. On toms hardware, this card is the best buy in this price bracket.

PhysX isn't that great. You really need a dedicated card to run physX for it to make a real difference... PhysX Article

Wait for the super powered 6770 to be released tomorrow/next week, according to the leaked specs it beats the current 5870 hand down. I'd love to see the official specs for the 6870, Nvidia must be **** themselves.

IMO the only decent nvidia card that has been worth the money to date has been the 8800GT (still in my desktop rig 3 years on, and still going strong!).

Nvidia must be **** themselves.

Why?
It's just the same old same old.
Tomorrow it's ATi with the latest and greatest and in a couple of months it'll be Nvidia to release the latest & greatest.
The cycles just keeps on turning.

New cards out are tomorrow are the radeon 6870 and the 6850. This is because AMD have shuffled the naming scheme, and the x8xx are no longer the fastest cards in their single GPU range, the 6970/6950 will be.

The 6870 will will faster than the 5850, but slower than the 5870. 6850 could be roughly in the region of the GTX470. These prices have come down because nvidia know that the 6870 will probably beat GTX470 and the 6850 will be close and cost under 200 pounds.

You're completely wrong, Tom's has this card as the best card in the $295 bracket which is more than the 5850 bracket. Get your facts straight!

GTX460 is close enough to the 5850 - hate it when fanbois post crap , the 460 caught AMD as the best of the mid range , the 5830 was a failure and the 5770 is soundly beaten , hence the pricing of these new HD6800 cards , to counter the launch tommorrow nvidia have cut the prices - hence we are seeing deals like this , and the 1 gig 460`s are down to around £130 (if you shop about)

Almost at the right price for me to buy another one for my Tri-SLi system! 2 of these go like a rocket but 3 are going to be insane!!!

They are very noisy when playing graphic intense games and run VERY hot - but they are well worth it.

rubbish , last gen`s high end performance for mid range money , smaller and uses less power - AMD have brought back interest to the mid range after the failure of the 5830
