VERSION 3 IN BLACK FOR 97P INSTORE
STILL ON FLEEBAY FOR £15
UP TO YOU WEATHER GOOD OR NOT

Keep your Xbox 360 Elite running at optimal conditions. The Intercooler EX for Xbox 360 is a snap on cooling attachment that easily connects to the Xbox 360. The Intercooler EX provides increased air flow away from the 360 which allows the console to perform in a cooler, better ventilated environment ideal for cramped entrainment centers. No internal modification of the Xbox 360 is required. A pass through power connection utilizes the existing Xbox 360 power supply negating the need for an extra AC adaptor. The unit also powers on and off automatically with 360 and the Intercooler's small size will fit in tight spaces like entertainment centers with your 360 displayed in either horizontal or vertical format.

Good review of it here: http://uk.gear.ign.com/articles/796/796951p1.html

This is the upgraded new version by the way.

The review talks about the old one saying "In our case, the review sample Intercooler is still docked to the 360 we tested it with, the only launch unit still functioning in the LA office, we might add."

You might want to think twice about these things. Probably why they are being sold off cheap.

http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/27/nyko-intercooler-scorches-xbox-360-consoles/

Looks like this might be a new model, but my 360 is noisy enough as it is without another 3 whirry little fans going too.

Good price. Could anyone grab one of these for me please? I'll pay postage fees etc, PM me if it's possible, thanks :)

Wasnt there a prob with these actually making the airflow worse? Something about 2 seperate fan currents couteracting each other?

This is the new model so don't worry about it:

"Now, almost a year later, Nyko is launching a new Intercooler in its line of EX branded accessories designed to compliment the Xbox 360 Elite. Other than the fact that it's now molded in black, the updated Intercooler features a seriously redesigned AC pass-through plug that is far more robust than the previous release. The original Intercooler's connection was simple plastic, whereas the EX model has upgraded to a metal housing enhanced by a spring-loaded release mechanism.

In head to head testing conducted today, we can confirm that the connection is massively more stable in the EX model than the original. Whereas we were able to easily shift the AC plug in the original model to the degree that fan-speeds were affected, the EX clamps so firmly upon the AC plug that we were not able to propagate any looseness at all."

No.

"For our part, we can confirm the three fans blow dramatically more air out the rear of the Xbox 360 than the naked console does, and to the touch the exhaust is a lot cooler, probably in part thanks to its sheer velocity. We also setup a pair of Xbox 360s, one Intercooler EX equipped, the other bare, and put them to work playing HD-DVDs via add-on drives (one of the most taxing applications for the hardware). The Intercooled 360 was noticeably cooler to the touch after 2-hours of playback, which confirmed an unscientific, but real, difference made by the Intercooler EX."

I got an older one and it's noisy, nice price for this one might give it a go.

Got some in my local store, sweet :)
Good spot

Excellent deal!!! Voted hot.

SunTzu is spot on with regards to the past problems of the Intercooler as a review for the Nyko Intercooler 360 EX (found at http://uk.gear.ign.com/articles/796/796951p1.html ) suggests that the EX version has "Dramatically improved the AC pass-through jack which should address short-circuiting issues". So for those with concerns over the Intercooler burning/scorching your 360, it would appear that Nyko have sorted the issue with this redesigned product.

Heat and rep added. Cheers shredder. :)

this is v3 with metal connections
i play without unless i know i'm in for a session

I heard these were bad, not because they limit airflow, but they caused extra current drain which could limit the power to the xbox and cause problems.

Worth bearing in mind!
#18
Just collected mine from Hedge-End store - they found it in the warehouse after a search and also bought down all the rest that are reserved.
They are behind the customer service desk, for those that have reserved one.

you shouldnt use these things, they fry your console, your xbox 360 is designed to use a certain amount of power and this uses to much of that power leaving your console short of power sometimes,so it will fry your motherboard and it will also void your warranty with mircrosoft and yes they can tell because your 360 has flash memory inside that saves and reports on how much power the 360 is using, even usin an extra 12v fan can get you banned from live and losse warranty.

but its up to you

Nope - working fine with my premium
#30
Seems a good price.. guess with those things its the cost of the batteries that knocks it back :)
#31
No thanks, 360 is noisy enough as it is

These things HAVE been known to help RROD some 360's. Do not use them.

The RROD is NOT caused by "overheating", it's the opposite - it's caused by cooling AFTER heating. It doesn't matter how hot it gets, if your 360 is going to RROD, it's going to do it no matter what, all you'll be doing is prolonging the inevitable. Forget this and just bare it, if your 360 breaks then MS will fix it, so even at 97p it's a waste of money.
#33
do you guys think this is worthing getting or not?
#34
None in stock near me.
#35
"up to you weather good or not"

Thats got to be the worst spell of weather we have ever seen, lol, voted hot!:-D

yes i do belive i myself and i know an awefull lot of folk who had consoles that wernt flashed with the old 12v fan mod and got banned and when i rang microsfot to ask about the ban they say i had done some kind of fan mod as i was using more power than usual.
#38
Does this not obstruct access to the component cable setup? I had a different one b4 but had problems with cables getting blocked?

TAKEN FROM ENGADGET

We've seen our fair share of products that aren't exactly "as advertised," but it seems that Nyko's Intercooler might actually up the stakes by accomplishing the complete opposite of what it's intended to do. While the Xbox 360 has experienced a good bit of "technical difficulties" in its short life, the Intercooler accessory was hailed as a product that nixed the seemingly widespread overheating issues; however, new reports are suggesting that the device "steals too much power" from the oh-so-needy innards of Microsoft's console, leading to eventual failure of the components. It was noted that the Intercooler can even elicit "brown discoloration" around the system's AC input before users are faced with the ominous red ring, and if this tale-tell sign is witnessed by RMA processors, your return becomes null and void for using an "unlicensed peripheral." Although Nyko respectfully defends its questionably useful product, Microsoft doesn't appear to lend the same appreciation -- but regardless, there's still a few (unofficial) methods left to ensure your Xbox 360 stays below the boiling point, cool?
