O2 are currently offering their home broadband packages free for the first six months to new customers who sign up as long as you have an active mobile number which has been used for over 2 years..

to get this offer you need to call customer service and ask for home broadband and mention that you have been told of the 6 months free promotion.

This deal is not available online or in store and is only available via customer services..

i rang up over the weekend and this was confirmed by one of their advisors..

May NOT be a hot deal for people ...
eg Anyone signing up can get 3m free
AND if you do that signup via online Quidco/TCB etc you can blag upto £80, which is a LOT more than 3 months so do double check specific circumstances.
PLUS do realise that the current o2 new subscriptions have VARIOUS niggles that you need to be sure about BEFORE signing up - ie the BRILLIANT 100% recommendable reputation their home broadband subs had until Summer 2010 is no longer a "no brainer".
eg see http://www.robertos.me.uk/html/o2.html

O2 will use your details even if you only put your phone number into the broadband checker!!!

Not only that they farm out your phone number to other companies too!!!

The cheeky MOFOs had the audacity to phone me up with a hard sell the day after I did an online broadband check. If I wanted their service I would have ordered it!!!

I got an email yesterday from O2 saying that prices go up from March. Since I am on the 'access' package (piggybacking a BT connection, my exchange isn't unbundled) my monthly fee will increase to over £20.
After looking around, I may opt for Plusnet, despite their 60GB per month usage, as they openly display their throttling rates for data types and the only other unbundled options are BT, Orange and TalkTalk. Shudder.

O2 used to be unthrottled, but made the change a few months back. For a short while, you could bypass the packet inspection with encryption, but soon they cracked down on that too.

Get moved. Access is shocking and almost any provider will be an improvement.
