o2 home broadband with 7mths FREE

on Wednesday 23rd June o2 stores are giving away their home broadband routers free.
The way it usually works is that you pay £30 for the router which is then credited back to your account plus you get the 3month free deal as standard.

If you get the router on the 23rd you pay nothing instore but you still get the £30 credit and the 3 mths free, so if you take the £7.50 deal (upto 8meg speeds, u'ltd downloads) you will pay NOTHING for 7months and only £37.50 for your entire year.
if you go for the £10 package (upto 20meg speed, U'ltd downlads) you pay nothing for 6 months and only £60 for the entire year.

These prices are basd on being an o2 customer, having a bt phone line, and signing into a 12mth contract.

Ive been with o2 broadband since day 1 and cant find a single fault. I even changed over to their home phone last month, just a shame this deal is for new customers as its the best deal i have seen in a longtime.

Your calculation is not correct because you need to include the £3.33 compulsary minimum spend on o2 mobile contract. Therefore the actual monthly cost for your BB is £10.83 when you are a o2 customer (and not £7.50 they claim). You are then free to spend your compulsary top-up on mibole phone calls or SMS.

You probably spend more than £3.33 on your o2 mobile phone (if you use o2 as your provider). However you need to count this amount when you compare contracts with other BB providers.

This deal is available from calling o2, i thought that three months free and free router was the norm (at least that is what they gave me, and was on the website). Plus you can get quidco if you do it online

The minimum spend is only for pay and go customers (you need to top up £10 every 3mths), there is no minimum usage if your on simplicity or contract.

And yes it is a free box online with 3 months free, but the instore deal gives you the extra £30 credit straight onto your bill AND the 3 months free.

What????? why dont you just get it via quidco, which worrks out at 9x7.50 - 50 = £17.50, or £40 for 20meg etc. etc.

whats the point of going through all this hsaale

The minimum pay applies to everybody, not just PAYG customers. E.g. if your mobile contract is with Vodaphone, you are either forced to change to o2 or pay an extra £10 every three month. If you compare contracts, you need to take ALL elements into account. This is why companies get away with quoting "free" offers, etc. when in fact nothing is free, it's just hidden in other costs.

To be fair, telecommunication companies keep their offers/tarriffs complicated, so it is not easy to work out the actual cost of what they offer. This is deliberate to fool ppl in believing they get a good deal when in fact they don't.

BTW, your Homephone from o2 is also not the best option but I'm too tired to explain it to you here, you can easily work it out yourself. You might want to check what o2 charges for calls beyond your included allowance!.

There is nothing for "free" in any of those contracts/offers.

I got the O2 pro package with 3 months free, no charge for the router and £70- quidco. Qualified for the O2 Broadband £5- p/m discount by going for the O2 world cup £5 cashback for every England goal scored sim card deal.

Just checked and Quidco offering only £50- cashback for O2 Home Broadband now.
