I'm not aware you can stick a 3 sim into any other phone than a 3 phone?

Phones normally come 'locked' to a specific network to stop you doing exactly as suggested above. It's normally possible to unlock the phone though so that it can be used with any sim you like.

Have sent 2 back to O2 in last 3 weeks. I would not recommend this phone.

Yeah the phone can be unlocked. But can't find much about it online. There is a wee shop nearby which unlocks them.

I personally think its a great wee phone - especially for the money. My only grumble is, its a little quiet...Other than that it's just fabby!:-D

"Will this work with a 3 chip"

Just because it's a 3G phone doesn't mean it will (technically this is because o2 simcards (along with every other UK network) are SIM cards, and "3" simcards as USIM (not SIM) cards, so a different socket is required to read them (they use a different amount of voltage, not sure what other differences they have).

Best place to get a definitive answer would be here: 3G Forums

I got a new contract K800i on o2 and was able to drop a '3' sim in. If this is a 3G handset on o2 I don't think you should have any problems but I can't say for certain.

i have this phone, and i wouldnt recommend it.

The volume is very quiet on the ringer which = a lot of missed calls. it also crashes a lot and u need to remove the battery to reset it. There are also a few other niggles but they are the ones that come to mind initially

This phone is fantastic, really value for money. I bought it 5 months back from littlewoods £20.50 with a voucher.

but trouble it is locked with O2, I could not able to unlock. Even I've contact O2 cust.service but hopeless
