Now you can finally make calls to international numbers from your mobile phone from just £5 a month with over 1000 minutes of calls!! Whats more, its from o2 directly so no nonsense of going through some third party that youv never heard of! Downside is you are limited to how many numbers you can call but its great if you call one particular number abroad

O2 International Friends and Family
Keep in touch with your special friends around the world with your O2 mobile
Give your friends and family abroad a cheap way to contact you on your O2 mobile
Just add it to your O2 mobile account and make unlimited international calls anytime

How it works
Choose up to five numbers abroad.
Call them as much as you like from your O2 mobile.
Pick one country and city for your international phone number.
People there can then call your O2 mobile for the cost of a local call.

How you pay
Pay Monthly:
Well charge to your bill each month and keep you informed via text.

Pay & Go:
Well deduct the cost of your package from your calling credit each month. We'll keep you informed by text.

£5 a month - call one number abroad, anytime
£10 a month - call three numbers
£15 a month - call 5 numbers

With any of the above you will also get one international number where your friend or family can call a local number (only for certain countries) and they will be able to call directly to your mobile at a local rate.

Which countries can I call?
Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Colombia, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Gibraltar, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mauritius, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, USA, Vietnam.

Hot deal.
One question though, would you be charged anything for calling the chosen international number in addition to the £5/month charge like any connection charge or would it count minutes from your inclusive minutes.

Very good deal indeed if you are calling a few chosen numbers internationally.

From what iv read there are no connection charges! After 60 mins the call will be disconnected so just re dial!

Happy days!! it is just a trial so hopefully o2 will keep this going!

#8
Does this include International Mobile numbers as well?
#9
good deal although for fiver you can call just one number...there are plenty of 0844 numbers offering cheap calls of up to 0.5p per min which works out to be roughly same and you need not call just one no :)
#10
nice !?
#11
cheaper to get calling card but good deal for direct calling through o2! normally international calls from mobile are stupid £1+ a min
#12
so if u got £5 on a payg and enable this bolt on.
do u need to have any other funds to make the call?
or just £5 for 1000mins...?
#13
Does the international calls include Northern Cyprus?

Agree, I remember back in the day when not a lot of people were on O2 (Vodafone being the most popular back then) and O2 were the only network to include 08 numbers as part of inclusive minutes, until they scrapped it :(.

Depends what country. Calling the sub continent is more expensive and this works out a bargain much cheaper than calling cards which offer in reality 200 minutes for 5 quid and these 0844 numbers are around 3,4,5p a minute to them asian countries.

excellent deal 02 are the best imo
#17
No Mexico Rubbish, voted hot for the others though!

Very hot deal.

While I don't expect there will be any other charges to call from your o2 mobile to the international numbers you have selected... are there certainly no charges to you when someone calls the international number you receive?

I understand that the person who calls the number will be charged local rate, but there would be no charges to me for that call being forwarded to my mobile? That is really a fantastic deal.

Out of curiosity has anyone considered a Skype2Go number? http://www.skype.com/allfeatures/togo/#checkCallRatesTab on the surface it seems an extremely cheap way to call abroad, a connection charge does apply on each time you call though.
#20
hot deal thank you
#21
Looking at the terms and conditions:

can talk up to 5000 minutes per month
each call can last 60 mins - after which just redial
offer only on between 7th April to 7th July, after which O2 will re-assess

seems like a fanastic deal to me.
#22
Does it include pakistan mobile?
#23
thats a great deal hope o2 keep this going
#24
hot deal, but will this affect my inclusive minutes every time i call the dedicated number?

I use Skype2Go - £3.39/month for unlimited calls to landlines in a chosen country (Malaysia in my case) and reduced rates for calls to mobiles. For many countries, Singapore for example, mobile calls can be included in the flat rate!

This O2 deal does look like good value if you are PAYG or don't have many inclusive contract minutes though, as Skype relies on my contract minutes and free evening/weekend landline calls!

*Edit: Skype to go allows calls either via your PC or a Skype2Go Number. The number they allocate you is based on your local area code, allowing you to make local rate calls which are then redirected to your chosen destination.
Also, you get 25% Quidco every time you top-up your Skype account :)

i call different numbers abroad so it's not for me. Instead for years I have been using this website: http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/intcallchecker/
Save you time for checking which access number is cheapest for particular destination, both landline and mobile. Hope this will also help other people like me, who call different numbers.

some quick answers. Firstly its not a bolt on. Its an extra service and so you will hav to make sure u hav free mins as it will deduct free mins for ur plan. No point using this service if u dont hav any free mins otherwise ul hav to pay for making the local cal which wont be worth it.

In regards to the local number that can be dialed abroad, you wil not be charged for recievin the call. Im sure i read that somewhere in the faqs so just double check it.

And yes this can be used for pakistan mobiles aswel....

I personally haven't tried the service. I hav set it up and wil be making my first call so cant comment on the call quality at the moment. Has any1else tried it?

Wow! Hott for me.. I always call one number every month and end up paying £10+ and this is gonna save me a fortune. I am on O2 Unlimited plan, so this is gonna help me a lot! Took less than a minute to setup up. The service is provided by Jajah & you get a dedicated 020 number for your contact. Thanks OP!! H&R Added

I'm with O2 iPhone Unlimited (£65/Month) - Unlimited Texts, Minutes & Web/Wifi :) And landline & mobile numbers are both included in my U/L Minutes. :)

Thank you Dundalk! That seems super useful!

in deed great find
#33
This is great but i would love it the other way round too,

I want to be able to call the uk from the USA and i can't find any decent deals from o2 on that!! This deal is super hot though
#34
hot!
Guess in some countries you can easily find some numbers like a proxy - calls though that number, so potentially with one number you can call quite a few
However personally I will stick to 3 payg with free skype forever, never topped up in 5 months, bought 80quid of skypeout credit when quidco was on 35% :w00t:
#35
My g/f is from Slovakia she will love this deal, thanks op! She currently has an International talk deal on O2 payg, but this beats that for the same money per month.

Two questions

1) as i understand it each overseas number is allocated a "UK geographic number", what is to stop me dialing that from another UK number eg BT landline (or 18185) to call for free in evening (or 5p via 18185) or will calling that allocated UK geographic number be "locked" to only be accessed from my o2 number?

2) not clear from FAQ that calling the allocated UK geographic number will use up free minutes on o2 rather than being totally free, but with my simplicity account could switch to free local calls (as opposed to currently having free o2 to o2 calls which i rarely use all my free minutes)

thoughts welcome

If anyone could answer this, I'd be grateful.

If I'm on 100 mins a month with my pay monthly contract (the lowest tarrif available), I would be paying £5 a month to make maximum 100 mins of calls to an international number? And if I exceed that 100 mins, I have to pay for the extra minutes at the local rate set within my contract (e.g. 20p per minute)?
#38
£5 for 1000mins abroad? wow amazing deal.

Per FAQ not 1000 mins but 5000 minutes!

"You can make calls for up to 5000 minutes in total each month, and you can receive up to 5000 minutes too. If you use the service more than this, we have the right to switch it off."
