Eh? How's that? :?

Hmmm, sounds like a reasonable deal to me.

The £15 credit would give you 7 individual days use, or 2 individual weeks use, or a months use (at £2/day, or £7.50/week, or £15/month).

For zero overall cost, it's probably worth a go.

and what if quidco dont pay?
#4
I had this in March, never topped up and still got all the Quidco money!! If you dig out the old thread, you'll see I wasn't the only one.

Used with an iPhone sim, it definitely is a Super Hot Deal.

Yes Quidco do pay out:

Total back from Quidco was £54.58 after paying £29.95 for the dongle.

Quidco is not guaranteed
#6
Seems clear cut enough to me. Quidco says £44.67 for a Mobile Broadband PAYG purchase as long as you top up with £15 within 30 days. I also have an iphone sim but find it runs like a dog. Do they work well for everyone else?

Last year I bought the iPhone from O2 when it was on offer for £170. They gave me the £100 Quidco cashback even though I never registered it!
[mod]#8
al355, unfortunately you aren't allowed to include Quidco in your deal price - OP amended, thanks

By jove i think he is right

Just have to top up within 30 days and bang £44.67 quidco

Heat and Rep added
#10
How do you top these up?
#11
Bought this a couple of weeks ago when it was £14.67 for the dongle and Quidco were offering £29.67 back after £15 topup. At the time along with other people it tracked at £29.67 and an extra £40 but then declined the £40.So really same deal as the dongle has doubled in price and Quidco compensating by doubling the cashback. Not quite sure why Robot1000 got the £40 aswell but that was in March not June.

I didn't go for that deal. I was just saying that I've gone with O2 before (with the iphone) and they never checked whether I signed up for the contract, yet still honoured the cashback
#13
Yes,sorry it was Stefor's post.
#14
Hot deal.

O2 are just about the most reliable payers on Quidco, so I'd say there's almost no chance of this not tracking/validating.

This deal is a stonker. Effectively a free modem and free internet access for a few days. Red hot in my opnion.
#15
does the top-up expire 30days after purchase or does it last until used up ???
#16
Has anyone who ordered this had theirs track OK with Quidco yet?

I ordered one on Thursday, and it hasn't tracked yet.

Mine tracked today

£40 + £3.50

Could I ask when you ordered it?

It's just that it is a good deal, if the Quidco comes through, but not if it doesn't, and so far, mine hasn't tracked after 2 days.

Thanks.

Same for me. Ordered on Thursay, tracked yesterday, Great deal but most people will never spot it due to the way the title has been reworded.

#22

#23
does it only appear on your quidco when you activate the sim card with £15

Nope, unless you have a wi-fi card installed

Nope, unless you have a wi-fi card installed

I see that now

thought it may have a wifi since it has the connector for an antenna :(

pity would have been a nice extra.

suppose it would stop you always using the O2 bb
#26
You can use Wi-Fi hotspots for free using The Cloud apparenty when you have credit on the dongle
#27
does anybody know if this dongel is unlocked when buying from o2 store i have seen it in store for £14.67 please.
#28
I am pretty sure that none of the broadband dongles are unlocked but you can of course get these done if you want for about £20.

I was wondering if I top up the £15, how does this translate to broadband usage ie if I use the broadband does it take £2 off each day, do I need to buy a bolt-on each day or does topping the account up with £15 automatically give me a month's access?
#29
My quidco has just tracked and I have literally just received the dongle from DHL man.
#30
In response to Petetobin, it looks like if you want to top up £15 that means buying a month's access. The only three purchases options are to buy one day, buy a week or buy a month. It's not topping up like you would normally think on a mobile.
#31
I am looking to buy a dongle to use while im on holiday so only need access for 15 days would this one be ok
#32
Regarding how you top this device see http://mobilebroadbandaccess.o2.co.uk/
Here you get the choice to top up for a day, a week or a month.
You have to top up £15 within the first month for the cashback, which basically means taking out a month's broadband usage, as any other method would cost the same/ for the same usage.

I realise this is effectively free, (mine tracked on quidco after 2 days) and received this morning.
The installation software is pretty bad.
If like me you like windows controlling your different network devices, cable / wireless / dial-up - this thing tried to disable Windows from controlling it - it takes over. On Toshiba's this means it disables ConfigFree (a great tool for switching networks)

I haven't yet found a way of just manually installing the modem, as soon as you insert it - it shows itself initially as a cd-rom, and starts to install the o2 connection manager software.
If you use a hidden network - its a pain in the neck because it isn't shown, and entering the network details - I still couldn't connect with the o2 software.

Anyone know where to download the drivers manually? Rather than install the o2 software.
I read you can set up a dial-up network connection with straightforward settings but haven't tried this yet, as it constantly is trying to install the o2 connection manager.

I found a site that pointed to using the t-mobile web-walk drivers if you need to install the e160 manually.

Apologies if I am being thick but how does having an O2 3G dongle get you free wi-fi access. Is it because the O2 software replaces your laptop's own wi-fi software and has the ability to do the necessary verification of your SIM and of the hotspot?

Yes as long as the holiday is in the UK. You would need to spend £15 for the 15 days but that's good value.

Feck I ordered mine last week, received yesterday and NO SIGN off it on QUIDCO for me :(

I did follow the link from the QUIDCO site incase someone thinks that may be my prob...

Is it normal for QUIDCO to take longer, or do I have to top up first ??

You join the Cloud, then when you hit a hot spot it will come up on the connection software then just click to connect

there's a software upgrade at the top of the 'mobilebroadbandaccess' page, makes things far better, drastically improved my connection as well, from very low to good !!!!

I've just disabled the o2 connection manager software from booting at windows startup as i only use the 3g usb for nights away + holidays. There's a checkbox in the wireless settings that lets windows takeover the connection again, i've got a shortcut setup so it's pretty a pretty easy fudge around

I short, No, but i put the dongle into my Netbook running Ubuntu and it registered it straight away, no software installs, i just changed the password for logging on and i was connected with 1 1/2 minutes.... unbelievable, if only windows was so simple.

brilliant deal
