I bought one of these today from Argos for £69. Got to say I love it so far

Bad form, OP. First, a baseless claim that it can be easily unlocked (post edited), then an attempt to push someone into buying it ("be quick to make your decision", "when it's gone it's gone"), and then a link to a mediocre review with an inflated score (post edited). If this was a smaller merchant, I'd swear you were a shill.

If it's a Tesco phone and you have topped up with them at least £20. This is on O2.

Has to be sent away? Why does sending it away make a difference? And £35 at least? That depends on how much of a mark up you want to make. There are people at computer fairs with JAF boxes and the up to date cables and software to be able to flash these and won't charge your carriage/handling fee.

And explain why isn't it flashing?

Flashing is updating the firmware in a device to a different configuration. It is called flashing as firmware used to be reprogrammed by placing if you like a stencil over the EEPROM and shining an UV light on it to alter the configuration of the gates that are not covered. In modern days this term has been borrowed to mean the alteration of firmware or 'inaccessible software' by application software/modding/patching or whatever name you give it. Unless you believe its some other 'alteration' method I'd suggest you are talking nonsense and you shouldn't post at all on the topic.

£35 per phone seems a bit of a con when you pay off the cost of the unlocking kit in about 3 sales and the software is a windows application.

I see what you are saying about the SL3, I didn't realise a new Security method was out that wasn't being cracked easily or at least as freely available as the computer fair/stall phone hackers. I assumed that due to your statement about flashing that you might be like so many self proclaimed 'experts' on here and were not in the know yourself. So I apologise for the assumption. I see you were trying to explain that it is not a hack that is so freely available as those via the previous methods.

I'll be interested to find out how soon the SL3 kit is going to be freely available. Are there any vendors on Ebay selling the kit yet? Hong Kong are always quick to start shipping that sort of gear.

You can always call O2 and they will unlock it fo 20 quid:).The only other way to unlock is DM3 in London.Or autorised Nokia repair centre, like the one i work at.
#24
Does anyone know if the Nokia 5230 is at the end of it's life and about to be replaced? Looking at Argos, Play etc, they all seem to be reducing the range of offers that they had.
