You need to have a Nectar card online account for this one.

Nectar have an offer on at the moment where when you buy an O2 PAYG Mobile Broadband Dongle via their website, you receive 3,750 Nectar points! However, O2 also have a special offer this weekend where the Dongle only costs £10 this weekend.

So basically a £10 spend will return points equivalent to an £18.75 spend in either Argos or Sainsbury's - a PROFIT of £8.75 and as a bonus, a PAYG Mobile Broadband Dongle!

Alternatively, spend your 3,750 points on any of the other treats and offers on the Nectar website.

It appears there is no compulsory top-up required to qualify for points unlike Quidco, so you don't need to use the Dongle - you can do what you like with it.

Perhaps a silly question, but can you put any O2 PAYG simcard in this or does it have to be a special broadband one?

You can use a O2 PAYG SIM Card with it as I've used my iPhone PAYG SIM in the past. The only downside I could recall was that I could only get 3G speed. For the record, you get a 'Mobile Broadband' SIM card with the Dongle anyway to achieve better speeds.

thanks for the reply - I have a stack of O2 sims that have arrived through the post unrequested and I think some have free minutes on them so will give this a go.

Quidco pay £20 for PAYG Mobile Broadband.

Uh oh. I went through Nectar and ordered the Dongle. However, I just noticed I wasn't "properly" logged onto the Nectar website, as in I didn't enter my password. My name was displayed on the top right corner though, but there also was a "not you?" button.

Do you think it will have tracked? Should I cancel my order and do it again "properly" just to be on the safe side?
#14
Thanks OP.

Just ordered.

good point windwin, can you combo quidco with this?

I used my existing 02 account to buy it and it worked for me.

Thanks.
#22
Do you think it would be possible to return this to o2 under there 30 day happiness Guarantee?

nectar say that the points will be with you within 28 days so could be on the card before you return it.

that is weird, I have at least 3x same PAYG mobile bb purchased from o2, all visible in my account history section, all profited from quidco, and still going through no problem at all. maybe try a different name or different style of address?
#24
Sweet, thanks, ordered one on Thursday morning arrived Friday when it was £10, now it is £10 and NECTAR :) I sure I can move one of these onto a friend no worries, thanks OP

Mind these are also wi-fi sticks so if you have a laptop without wireless or a desktop and a wireless router it'll give you Internet.

Very handy to have -especially in this deal.

really? I think it is just a software with a database that tells you nearby hotspots. It does not have b/g or n chip inside. Correct me if Im wrong

I would ignore the software anyway. The o2 connection software is rubbish compared to original one written by Huawei.

Definitely a wi-fi dongle -that's what makes them so popular (ie for the home and out and about at cafes etc).

The coonnection software is pretty robust too and they have updates and even a Windows 7 update if you need it (I say if because the last few dongles I've had work fine in W7).

I don't have a Nectar card but I'll be looking into it today.
#29
Definitely NOT a WIFI dongle, just mobile broadband. I have one. To use WIFI with this it asks you to turn on your computer's WIFI.

£10 profit if you go through quidco

Order declined :?

Edit: Tried again with a debit card and it worked
#32
Hmmm, yeah no wi-fi after all

Always check the facts as they're usually err... facts :-D

I do have my Vodafone SIM in my E160 though and it works with Vodafone's connection manager. That's a fact cos I've been using it for months. I assume therefore these 160s are unlocked. Make sure you install the Vodafone managerthen plug in the dongle. If the donle offers to install O2 say no and Windows should remember (or tick the box to say never install).

The last one I bought (2 days ago) is labelled as "SIM free".

I could have sworn this did wi-fi, it must be an old ZTE stick I thinking about.

Quidco offers £20 cashback, but you have to tup up £15 first.

In order to receive cashback for PAYG Mobile Broadband you must top up with £15 within the first 30 days to receive your cashback.
#34
I wouldn't r(yetely on the quidco cashback. O2 failed to track, so i made an enquiry which was successful. It's been about 6 months and i'm still waiting for the cashback (topped up by £15/month, few times). The status is "validated".

Also, the "O2 Connection Manager" and the driver is horrible. Not easy to diagnose if it stops working.

Found another software that works with HUAWEI E160 unlocked modems called Mobile Partner : http://www.dc-unlocker.com/downloads/Huawei/Not_customised_managers

Not tried it (yet) though.

I've just swapped energy supplier from scottish power to edf energy (through quid-co of course)
and you can collect nectar points with them, for the amount you spend on fuel with them.

Ordered, h&r added.

Free money is good money
#37
How long is it till the nectar points show up on my statement?
#38
Just to confirm that I have an O2 dongle that looks just like one of these - Huawei Mobile Connect E160. There is no built in WiFi but you can use/control any other wireless card etc through the O2 software. IF you are in an O2 Wifi 'hot zone' - airports etc I think connection is free.

Tip: Turn off your antivirus/firewall/security before you try to install the software for this dongle, as that is what usually couses the poblems.

As soon as you've installed, turn the protection back on....and enjoy O2's awful software....

As for this deal: I'm out, since Nectar fell out with AirMiles!

Anyone know if you are restricted to one per puchase/nectar account/house hold?
