Please be nice - this is my first post!

This deal is only applicable for o2 existing customers coming towards the end of their current contract.

I called O2 and asked to be put to the Cancellation team (they offer better deals then the Retention team). Call 202 from your mobile or the direct team free tel no: 0800 028 8151

They asked the reason for me cancelling - I said I have another sim with '3' and they have offered me a good tariff for £15.

They then offered me the Online 25 tariff - with a £15 discount each month for the duration of the 18 month contract.

Meaning you get all the below for only £10 per month!

Key benefits:
Free Mobile Phone: Limited selection or pay extra for phone you want - (I got the Samsung U800 free - nice slim phone, in brushed stainless steel)

200 UK minutes
400 UK texts each month
Plus unlimited O2 to O2 calls
Free voicemail
Browse the internet on your mobile for up to £1 per day
Free itemised online billing

The Online 25 tariff is still advertised on their website - so you can try your luck if you want a great deal - with a low monthly outgoing - I don't think I will ever go over £10 on my bill as most of my friends/family are on O2 - so I will be taking full advantage of the Unlimited calls!

The best thing is - if you decide this tariff or the free phone is not for you - then you have a 14 day cooling off period.

Good deal for you but I thought a lot of mobile providers based end of contract deals on how much you had spent during the life of your contract. Then they could reasonably expect to get a decent return by keeping you.

I could be wrong. No good for me, so I will not vote.

To be honest - I didn't spend much with o2.
I was on a monthly free line rental with Anytime 50 mins free sim only. I did have the sim for a few years - however used my '3' phone majority of the time. Only when I came to the end of the 3 contract - I thought I'd see what o2 could offer.
So its worth giving it a go - It definately worked for me!

I was on a monthly free line rental with Anytime 50 mins free sim only.

I have one of those as well and use it to get the £5 discount off my O2 broadband every month. :)

Would this work if you are on O2 PAYG and want to move onto contract?

It is worth asking. Because I was on a Free Line Rental Anytime 50 minutes tariff (sim only) & when I upgraded to pay monthly contract - I got the phone free too!!!

That was a deal a from a good few years ago, sad to say you wont get it now.

Got mine for £5 a month :p

Just to add a bit more for carphone warehouse GROUP (e2save etc) users. - i.e. your o2 bill comes from carphone

e2save contract ran out - renewed on 400 + 400 for £5 pm originally 200mins but they put 200 extra mins in - had to go through to retentions though.

Or mention this deal to retentions at CPW and see what they can do - they are an **** to disconnect from so normally you'll just have to compromise.

I was originally on pay as you go with O2, then changed to paid monthly for £15, i got 200 mins and 400 text. When my phone gave up the ghost looked around for different deal. Phoned O2 to cancel and was offered a new phone, £150 credit and they doubled my mins. I now get 400 mins 800 text for £15 months plus the £150 credit covers my line rental for nearly 10 months!! Don't forget you also get free calls to other O2 users! Worth a try for anyone thinking of switching or to encourage the current provider to up the deal.

Make sure the discount is for the full 18 months, they caught me on this last year, the discount was for 12 months but the contract for 18 months, the overall discount was good but just felt a bit aggrieved by the sharp practice as I only found out the discount was for 12 months when I got the first months bill (1 month into the contract).
#12
good deal if you can get it. I used to get £15 discount on my tariff and i changed to simplicity 15 but they kept applying the discount so i pay about 50p a month. I'm just dreading the day they find out!!!:p

I pay £20 a month and get unlimited texts, 500 minutes and a free samsung soul.
o2 are really good :D
#14
on hold now thanks!

EDIT: They said they are currently updating their system and I should phone back around 2pm. Perhaps they are updating to take this deal off, lol.

If you threaten to cancel at the end of a contract they will transfer you to the 'retention' team who will offer you some cracking deals. I recently renewed my Orange contract (which I has for 12 months), they gave me a free LG Secret, 400 mins xnet, unlimited txt's, unlimited web browsing and free itemised billing for £15 (18 month contract). They also offered my parner the same deal for £17 as she was transferring from Pay&Go.

Goes to show what you can get if you haggle a bit! :)

Virgin had £10 for 300 min & 300 text in July. Unused min of the current month roll over to the next month. The normal deal is £15 per month. Worth asking them, you may get £10 per month as well.

PS: it was not a contract deal. you may walk away whenever you want

Got the new sony c702 phone 400 mins, 1000 txts and unlimited 02 to 02 calls for £20 a month on an 18 month deal.

does this sound like a good deal? I thought it was.............
#18
Just got similar upgrade:

18m, £10/m, 200 mins, 400 txts, unlimited o2 to o2, £150 credit without phone.

Totally cost £30 for 18m, £1.67/m, not bad

I asked for a pak code to transfer my number. O2 were initially not very helpful but I stood my ground. They then came back and gave me a Sony c902 on 18 mth contract at £25 a month 1000 texts 600 mins xnetwork and unlimited internet. Not bad I reckon so I stayed with them.

That sounds like a good one too.

I was quite firm that I was not going to spend more than £20, which is probably how I ended up on the tariff I did.

All my friends are on 02 so the free calls are useful!

are all these deals just for existing customers who are upgrading? Im looking to change from voda to o2 after a really expensive contract, any idea how i could get a deal like these?

if it was me I would tell them what another network can offer you (3 are normally cheap).

then say that you are considering 02 if the offer is right. Don't commit to anything, and see what you get! For the sake of a phone call I would have a go.

Of course existing customers are going to get better deals, because 02 want to keep their revenue streams open, but they will be more than willing to open up new ones!!!

how do you get the free line rental?

I'm on a free line rental package with Orange, only get billed for what I and o/h use each month; calls txts web etc. It dates back ten or so years when Orange would match any other network's deal and Virgin, who were just starting up, offered a free sim if you owned your own phone and came over to them. They would only bill you for what you used. Orange matched the offer and their 'Virgin Plan' passed into cellphone folklore as one of the best deal ever offered by anyone. Needless to say they soon stopped new people taking it up but if you were already on it there was nothing they could do. I've had countless calls over the years offering incredible things if I moved onto a different package but I've been told never to give this up. If HUKD had been around in those days my H&R would have gone off the radar for posting it.

I'm on a business tariff and o2 will not do this deal for me they say its only for consumer tariffs only so it wont work for everyone.

And yet again this site helps me out, god bless it. :)

My contracts up, went into O2 yesterday, and was basically told that my contract isn't done anymore (I've had it 8 years, so while its quite cheap, I don't get much free, I'm a relic...), they aren't doing loads of Free handsets options for it anymore (Theres ONE! Horrible Nokia Clamshell), and they don't even do 12 month contracts anymore. Basically, tough. Nice to feel valued.

Having seen this thread, I worked my way through the layers of people offering me stuff at O2 - and ended up with a nice free Sony Ericcson, and an upgrade to the £25 a month deal (which is a lot more minutes etc for me) discounted to £15. Ok, I had to take 18 months contract, but still, I'm pleased. :D No outlay, loads of free phone calls, new phone, sorted. :)
