Ocado Delivery Pass £39.99 (normally £109.99)

I thought I'd post this as an alternative to the red-hot deal for £2 Asda deliveries, and reading all the comments.

I've just signed up for Ocado delivery pass - £3.99 per month or £39.99 for a year which gives you unlimited deliveries for no further delivery charge (minimum term is a year, after the first year you have to cancel unless you want to continue at normal prices which are rather more expensive) (Minimum order £40, and special rules at Christmas)

I know Ocado won't suit everyone - but I've been pleasantly surprised so far at their prices and range of offers. Also, anyone who uses My Supermarket please be aware that a lot of offers don't seem to appear on that site and also some items don't appear on that site at all - better to shop directly on Ocado for the best range and prices.

Reasons Ocado might suit a lot of people (like me):

-One-hour delivery slots
-Bookable in half hour increments (i.e. 8am to 9am, 8.30am to 9.30am etc)
-Huge range of delivery times (although I guess this depends on the area) - as early as 6.30am and as late as 10.30 to 11.30pm, and even on Sundays they seem to have early morning and late evening slots sometimes.
-Good service - I was worried yesterday as a promotion for 12 for 6 on Muller Lights was ordered, but they delievered only 11 items. Ocado automatically charged me the offer price.
-Better stock availability - the website quite often tells you when things are out of stock so you can pick an alternative, means substituions are kept to a minimum.

:(

I had a feeling it might be customer or region specific, sorry it's not available for you. Will be interesting if other people post to see how they get on. Or it might even be worth being cheeky and approaching Ocado to see if they can honour the price? No idea if that would work though...

Yeah, I guessed that might be the case too. Even at £69.99 a year, it's still a good deal though.

Is ocado the closest you can get to M&S online food shopping?

£69.99 for me too...

They sell Waitrose stuff, as well as their own brand and other lines you simply cannot find elsewhere (tinned Libby's pumpkin for example!).

I don't want to start a debate about who's best - M&S or Waitrose, but they are both aiming for the quality market!

really good idea... shame they dont all do it!

Tesco are considering it, apparently. I was asked for my opinion some time ago in one of their surveys...

Hello,

Thinking of going for this, but not sure.

At the moment, Ocado regularly send me 10-15% off emails. If I sign up for this, does anyone know if you still get the mails? The codes they send save me up to £12, which us more than the delivery and costs me nothing,

Thanks a lot,

Ben

I signed up on 1st January. Got a 15% off email on 3rd January! I presume this was an oversight and that their system hadn't recognised I'd already signed up as I have a strong feeling like you do that I won't be getting the % off emails any more.

I gave it a lot of thought for this reason, but in the end decided it was worth going for for the convenience and not having to do a minimum £75 spend. Also, I used to find they'd always send me offers like 'shop tomorrow with 15% off' and it would be difficult to do a shop at such short notice, or there wouldn't be any suitable delivery slots available.

I did get another email today - half price on certain products for delivery pass customers only, which is probably the subscriber equivalent to the % discounts. Nothing much worth having in the half price offers though.

mm we use Ocado every week (perhaps we should stop using for a few weeks to see if any offers come through) and haven't received any money off offers for at least 8-12 months maybe longer

99.99 for the delivery pass for my account too !! :(

That's harsh! Tells you something about being a loyal customer!
#18
crickey - perhaps if I contact customer services then !!

we're in Essex too !

Good deal and came in at £3.99 for me in S London. Great that I only have to order £40 worth now which at Ocado is about a multipack of Walkers crisps, two Muller Lights and half a cucumber.

But seriously, try their Moroccan Chicken and Thai Chicken Soups - the best there is.
#20
mmm right - vote with your feet as you say - obviously getting nothing by being loyal

did a search about Ocado on google and found article stating Waitrose now deliver to areas that they hadn't previously

and sure enough -we can now get deliveries from Waitrose direct - right thats where this weeks shopping is going

Mine shows as 3.99 per month fixed for a year or 69.99 for the annual pass!!
#22
£69.99 for me too and we live in the ghetto! (_;)

Thought I might as well sign up anyway and see if they send us any discounts. Usually find their stuff is somewhat overpriced.

Have you checked the per month price as well? For a while, they were doing £3.99 a month, or £109.99 for the year. (Figure that one out!). I've recently moved to Essex/Herts border, maybe that's why the annual price went down?

yup - £9.99 a month for 12 months or 99.99 for 12 months

we spend 150 every week with them - as I said going to try Waitrose this week - previously they were unavailable for our area

If you shop carefully, you can find some good deals. Ocado own brand eggs, for example, are cheap at the moment (compared to free range eggs elsewhere). Muller Lights are on 12 for price of 6. Lyons coffee bags, buy two £1 off... well, you get the picture.

Their offers are limited - but personally, I've had enough of only ever buying what's on offer. Now I can buy things that I just fancy rather than what's on offer...

3.99 or 39.99 for me living in NE Hants

going to give it a shot we havent got a M&S round here and when we take our daughter to great ormand street, we always stop in on the oxford street branch and my missus thinks the fruit is much better than tescos /sainsburys etc....

We use Ocado most weeks, occasionally topping up the shopping from other supermarkets when we're out and about. I have to say that Ocado's service is second to none and of course the quality of the food is high.

We use both website and iphone app to amend the order and delivery is free most nights if you don't mind food arriving at about 10pm.

Thoroughly recommended from me!

£69.99 for me and the store is only 800 yards away. Looks like I'll have to walk ha ha

Dont deliver to me in Weymouth
#32
I used to get the 15% vouchers and was using them (continued to receive after an order) but they stopped just before Christmas.

I'm in south London and the £39.99 offer is available to me.

actually have to agree that the service is indeed superb.

I've been eating much more healthy since going purely online shopping - I plan what I want to eat (and what the family is to eat)

I used to have something similar with Ocado before they called it the delivery pass, but stopped it last year, mainly because the delivery slots in my area are so often free of charge anyway that it wasn't really worth it. Great deal for those who use them a lot though and can't often get free delivery.

Wow - I never knew Tesco was that expensive.

Before anyone comments - Ocado price match tesco. They are not expensive.
#37
* There is a reason Ocado rock
- They have a centralised distribution delivery system, unlike Tesco who deliver from local stores for example. I barely have 1 item a week missing.
Under Tesco or Sainsbury it was more like 4-6 missing items each week. Often basic items like bread, and toilet soap. It was irritating to have to go to the store anyway to have to get the "Other bits".
I can justify alot of the delivery cost based on:
Not picking up items I don't need, because you often shop on way home from work (and hungry)
&
Petrol
&
Time
I can't fault Ocado. Their new website is also awesome, and they have the best grocery app for smartphones. (Tesco Windows Phone 7 app not withstanding)

Sorry if being thick...how do you check how much it is in your area.....do I have to fully register? Never used them but being considering giving them a go for this very reason - at 39.99 def be worth a go.
#39
Thanks OP !.

Top post as far as I'm concerned... I use Ocado all the time and this will save me a small fortune. Plus the fact that I will get a Christmas Delivery slot (albeit at standard cost) - haven't been able to get a Christmas delivery slot for the last couple of years.

Have some heat :-)

I think it only tells you if you're registered. What area are you in? Maybe someone who's registered in your area can tell you how much it is.

Showing up as £39.99 for me in Leicester. Darn, I'd sworn off Waitrose as well.
