What do you want me to do? Upload data from mysupermarket.co.uk showing the prices? Or have you tried ocado and are disputing my estimate of quality increasing?

Oh hold on. You know what. I think 10% increase may be an exaggeration so it's probably that which you're commenting on. Looking back through mysupermarket orders it averages 7.3% increase over the last 6 shops. I bet that's what you've spotted as an error in my post. I can only apologise. Sorry to have mislead you.

I honestly don't find it that expensive. It depends what you buy. I've moved from Asda, to Sainsburys, to Ocado over the last 12 months. I'd say that my bill has increased by probably 10% or so from Asda to Ocado. But the quality of food has increased by much more.

Re. the minced beef, I'm comparing Angus 5% fat minced beef with Angus 5% fat minced beef, which is effectively like for like.As for the chicken, well, the one you're showing me is £16.29/kilo with 15% off if you buy before 13-06, so it's actually more than the example I gave. Even with the discount it still costs £14/kilo which is almost double that of a local butcher.I'm not trying to be a knob, but am merely trying to point out that these prices are not competitive and people looking for a good deal need to be aware of that.Even with the 25% discount it's vastly over-priced

The offer isn't that you have to buy chicken and beef though?
But ok, I agree, they can't beat the price of your local butcher. But as your local butcher doesn't deliver to me in a one hour window for no additional charge. This is a better deal. Same prices as Asda for the items you mention, but with free delivery rather than paying for delivery.
Plus you get 25% off.
And it's not the 13th of June yet so the price I quoted is correct.

I too am not trying to be difficult. It's just that the deal isn't for the items you mention and Ocado isn't as expensive as you'd think. Even on the items you are comparing it's cheaper than Sainsburys, Tesco and Asda.
just used this to get 3 x coal which is on offer and bottle of Aperol also on offer ;)
is it still working as i used the code but no discount showing on my checkout page

I bought 6 of these last time there was a deal on, combined with a new account discount it worked out cheaper than Aldi charcoal!!
This stuff is completely different to normal charcoal, not lumps but branches! It means you can build a BBQ with much better airflow - especially useful in the Kamado type BBQ's.
A full load of this in a Big Green Egg will run for 24hrs. Or you can crank open all the vents and make a 500C pizza oven.

Good to see an informed post. Restaurant grade charcoal is the best if you're serious about outdoor cooking!

Check out this stuff too

Good tip! But I'm still getting through my first bulk order

by the way, does anybody know a good place to get smoking planks from?

I'd be interested in this too. Loads of US places to get them from, amazon stocks some but none from reputable sellers. Don't want anything with added chemicals or other nasties.
by the way, does anybody know a good place to get smoking planks from?
just ordered 3 for the big green egg. it's 3 for 51.98 not 49.98 but still a great deal
This is the best charcoal I have ever used. I always purchase from Ocado. Totally agree with above comment.

These literally are 'Dripping' whilst cooking.... flick chips over and drain fat often!
I totally disagree, I think there is no frozen chip like it. They are stunning with a good steak!

These are ridiculously expensive normally @ £3.15 but even at £2.00 NOT cheap.
So unless you are really lazy and can't be bothered to Peel and Cut up a few potatoes they are NOT for most of us.
Let McCain know by avoiding them.
I'm not really lazy but we both work all day every day so sometimes use frozen chips, I have tried these and they not worth the premium price, try Tesco own brand "Best" chips they cheaper and much nicer

Voss water is ~25-29 ppm (particles per million ) if measured with TDS meter. While tap water is usually 250-350ppm. Filtered tap water is never less than 200. Distilled water should be 0ppm, but i get around 4ppm and i DO DRINK distilled water. It is best water you can get in artificial environment. Rain water collected i bucket is 8-12ppm. It should be 0 obviously, but due to pollution/dust it is not as pure as distilled. Of course non fresh rain water may be contaminated, thats why you need to boil it. While boiling tap water only increase amount of chemicals in the water, because pure water will evaporate.
Most botteled water is 100% tap water, but it is cleansed by ionizing water...separating chemicals from water and they will add bicarbonate soda and other "minerals" to make water alkaline. Botteled water varies from 60ppm to 350ppm. Ppm only indicate how conductive water is, more ppm the more something in the water. It can be either good ir bad. Tap water is 100000000% bad and ugly looking stuff in there.
Am i saying drink distilled water? No, jus
So what's your advice on drinking water?
Well, there are plenty myths about distilled water which say that it wash out minerals and similar negative stories, but it is not true. But yes, pure water has better ability to attract to itself impurities. To a degree it can be true... But By drinking clean clean water, there is no damage done, while drinking water with chemicals/ rust is damaging your pineal gland, memory, joints, bones, teeth, arthritis, etc..etc.. Of course pure water with calcium and other minerals possibly is better, if your body really need them. But all the minerals you should get by eating proper food anyway.
Hmmm... I would suggest buy some non popular cheaper bottled water, which is not filled with Soda or any other artificial chemical/"mineral". Buy TDS meter and test all water and select water with lowest ppm (previously i found 4 liters for £1 and it was around 60ppm, quite pure). For instance Evian water (250ppm) is not mountain water as they claim it to be, there was group of people who researched this and even in hometown where this water originates bottled Evian water has nothing to do with local water. funny enough if you read Evian backwards it will mean Naive ;) So don`t be naive :)
Of course, if you can buy water distiller (~£100) and distil your own water, that is cheapest and most effective solution. 1 gallon (4l) of water will cost you ~50p of electricity and four hours. But then you can literally SEE what was in that water and quickly get a grip what is good and not for you.
By all means avoid tap water, filtered or not. Brita filters do not remove any chemicals from water, just a rust.

So here you are, read while you can, because moderator will delete it as usual.

They also have Tanquary for £25 a litre. Gordon's is £15 a litre.

Where was it that had Star of Bombay for £25? Very tempted to try that! The East is lovely too.

Ocado - Britain’s First Online Supermarket

OcadoOcado is a household name, offering online food and other deliveries to homes all over the UK. It started trading in 2000, but really took off after signing a deal with Waitrose to handle its deliveries in 2002. Since then the firm has expanded its online presence, introducing a slick smartphone app and creating 22 delivery warehouses across the country.

Ocado will let you know when you register whether your area is covered by their delivery service (most UK addresses now are). If you are eligible for delivery, the firm will usually be able to deliver your order on the same day, between the hours of 6:00 and 23:30.

When you checkout, you can specify a one-hour delivery slot that works for you. This can be changed if needed by going to your account and clicking on the “Order” tab and then the “Change Delivery” link. It’s also a good idea to specify a delivery slot before you order, as times are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Slots expire within 60 minutes of claiming them.

Members can also sign up for a service called Ocado Reserved which allows them to specify a weekly slot. This free service can be found in the My Ocado folder.
